Beautiful office, friendly and welcoming staff, streamlined process and probably the best exam and cleaning I've ever had.

One of the worst things to have to do when you move to a new town is find a new dentist. After much…read morereading, researching, and general procrastination, I finally took my daughter in law's advice and went to Cosmedic Dentistry. The moment I walked into the door I was greeted by the sweet and wonderful Ginger, who greeted me like she'd known me all my life. After a brief wait, Ginger gave me a tour of the entire office. Yes, I said tour, not an escort to the chair to wait. She went out of her way to explain what each area was and I was greeted by everyone who wasn't busy with a patient. This is not your usual dental office. My hygienist was Zoe, a lovely girl who had her credentials displayed prominently for all to see and marvel at.(She's very qualified) Zoe presented me with a gift of a nice aluminum water bottle and portable toothbrush as a thank you for choosing Cosmedic Dentistry. Very nice. She went over all that was going to happen while I was there and even took the time to ask me several questions about myself so they can get to know me. This extra step to actually know the patient as more than a mouth was surprising and unlike anywhere else I've been. The next couple of hours went fast with 2 different Xrays and a set of photos taken of my teeth for their records. Zoe examined my teeth herself to get a good idea of what they were working with and I told her what I was interested in doing with my mouth. She was great to talk to and I enjoyed every minute of my time with her. Dr McClain arrived soon after. A nice and very professional man who is one of the most knowledgeable and up to date dentists I've seen in decades. I have ancient veneers on my teeth that were degrading and breaking and wanted to replace them before my son's wedding in September. He told me exactly what I needed done, then explained what he would have to do to achieve my goal. All with a smile. Turned out I have some fillings that need replaced, two new cavities, and the last of the wisdom teeth must come out asap. Everything can be done in house except the wisdom teeth. Dr McClain gave me a few options for that procedure since it required a surgeon. He thanked me for coming in and said he looked forward to seeing me soon. My next stop was Lana, the treatment plan coordinator. She went over my options in detail, showing me a list of all I needed to have done and a cost breakdown. Payment options were discussed and after I chose one, she was able to get the financing right then for the full amount. Like everyone else at Cosmedic Dentistry, she was all smiles and a joy to speak with. I left with this: Cosmedic Dentistry makes your experience fun, not sterile. They go out of their way to know not just your teeth, but you as a person. They are willing to look for all options that will give you comfort and the look you want. They are able treat all ages and nearly every dental problem in house with kindness and efficiency. You will look forward to your next visit. I can't wait until I get my new veneers! Anyone want a recommendation?

First let me say that there are too many workers at the front desk, (at least 7 different ladies),…read moreeach with one particular job focus. Which many of these jobs could be multi tasked to condense them into 2 to 3 ladies at the front desk. I have never in my life seen a dentist office so broken up into all these 7 jobs for 7 different workers to do. For example, a lady to explain the cost to you, another to take your insurance, 2 others to check you in and take information paperwork, another lady to check you out, another lady to give you the tour of the office that you didn't ask for, etc. This is not even counting the multiple ladies in the back who are dental hygienists to hygienists' helpers, where's that dentist again? Yeah, you barely see Dr. Hughes and she's gone to another patient. Now Dr. Hughes herself seems like a very competent dentist but because this office seems to pack patients in like a car wash, there is no personal attention to the patient or getting to know the person. Having another lady worker come in and write down saying quickly 'give me 2 things you like to do in your spare time?' and then she says, 'ok bye' and off she goes. This is a very impersonal environment where workers pretend to be personal but are not. The only worker that was semi personal and was with me most of the time, was the hygienist helper. Again, having workers state that they have multiple contests for prizes to win, when you come back or refer someone else to them, is again ridiculous. This line of thought is trained to a "social economic low class lottery winning type of mentality." And to anyone else it implies "that possibly we'll use low grade material to fill your cavity and that you'll have to come back within a few months to a year to get it redone again." This does not leave you with a feeling of confidence in that dentist and their workers. After experiencing this office environment, I understand now that most of these reviews here on yelp and on their website are made up by friends who know the main Dentist Dr. McGraw. This was my first time going to this office. I mistakenly chose this office based off these reviews and so scheduled my visit 3 weeks in advance. Lastly, the dentist gave me an overdose of Lidocaine for one single tooth which lasted for 12 hours and went up my skull and completely numbed by whole ear. The next 3 days I couldn't eat without severe nerve pain where my whole jaw throbs painfully, which has caused me to take multiple Ibuprofen everyday. After a week, the throbbing has subsided but chewing food is tiring and a sore jaw by the end of the day. I can only suspect 2 things, first, there was waaaayyyy too much Lidocaine administered. The second thing is that the first Hygienist filled my cavity and then after the dentist checked it, Dr. Hughes didn't like how it was done so she redid it! Now if it wasn't done correctly then I'm glad she redid it. But there was no communication with me that this tooth was going to be redone as I sat there with wedges and pliers in my mouth yet again! Because of my jaw being left stretched and open for such a long period of time the entire jaw was horribly sore for over a week. These ladies didn't consider the long term painful effects of how this would affect my life for the next week and a half. I too have a career, a life, and kids and all this caused a lot of domino effects of having to cancel work and schooling because of intense pain. So unless you are getting a simple teeth cleaning, I would pass on this office and their staff. **Note: To have a better run office, it needs better communication with the patients and the staff, less gossip within staff (that means keep private life separate from work life), less caddy snide remarks or come backs among the hygienists especially toward the dentist. Otherwise, all the ladies where very kind to the patients and to me that I experienced.
