Spent Labor Day weekend at a VRBO house nearby with friends for the weekend. Decided to try the winery out. Grounds are nice and face the Lake. Picnic benches and umbrellas are there too. Umbrellas are a bit unstable. While there one almost flew in to the lake. But we are here for wine. Walk in and you can smell the food. I did not have any food so I cannot comment. Smelled good though. People seemed to enjoy. They had a special on sangria so we went with that. They said it was a pint glass. But it's not a pint. I have had a pint many times and this was just a solo cup that is less than a pint. Not the red solo but clear with lid. Sangria was ok. Fruit was a slice of orange. A bit dry for me. Not horrible but not to my liking. They have a handful of other wines. You can try and taste just ask. The issue was really the employees. I thought they were abrupt and kinda rude. I am here to spend money and it seemed like my questions annoyed them. Never been here so I wanted to know what everything was about. Maybe I went on an off day. There were quite a few people there trying to enjoy the day. Overall i might pass next time. Good view. But so-so on the experience. read more

First time at this "winery" with 1 grapevine. Chardonnay not dry , more sweet. Ordered a sausage & hot pepper pizza. Not a fan of US pizza so this was a test. It was excellent. Nice thin homemade crust. Very clean & nice atmosphere. Excellent service read more

Cute scenery and the food is tasty. However, the food is very overpriced considering there is no table service and how small the portions are. Also, the two people who run the ordering station were asking us to hurry up when we were asking questions about the menu. For a winery, the service was quite poor. Nice view, good music, good location, good food. But definitely overpriced food. The wine, however, was reasonably priced. I still think they could bring the food to you. Not worth it. read more

This is a one week review, will take down after a week, but Halliday deserves this temp one star review (I am going to get rid of the 5 star review I gave Hallidays originally awhile ago as well)... April 3rd they had a Easter egg hunt. $20 to participate. Started at 3PM. I didn't participate, so didn't have to pay. Just drank wine with the wife and a couple friends. Was nice. Place was packed. Good vibes. Folks having a good time. About 3:30 or so, they announced "OK, we have a private party starting at 5PM. Anyone staying has to move it outside". At that time no one was outside, because it was a strong chilly wind outside. Sunny, but no one I was with wanted to sit outside. So we left. My gripe is, they did not have anything posted about this private party posted that I could see. So imagine this. You pay $20 per person, to buy THEIR wine and buy THEIR food. Your thinking "glad the weather isn't too bad. Cold and windy, but no rain! Think I'll stay here awhile!". Then it's announced "hey, thanks for the $20 apiece you paid to participate in the Easter egg hunt! And thanks for buying our wine and food! But you gotta leave in another hour, 'cuz we rented out the inside. Yeah it's cold, but ya gotta go! Thanks for the money by the way..." That was pretty darn rude. Now don't get me wrong. I like the place. The folks who work there are GREAT! Never a complaint about customer service, always smiling! BUT... Wonder how many folks would have paid that $20 EACH to be in that egg hunt, if they had known that in two hours, you gotta go and sit in the cold windy outdoors if you want to keep paying us to eat and drink here. That was just rude. And like I said, I'm taking this review down in a week. But, whoever made the decision to not post the private party info, just to get the Easter egg hunt money, was just being obtuse. And if the answer from management is "we had it posted! It wasn't that bad outside!" Is missing the point. I didn't see any notice. The folks sitting around us didn't see any notice. The one table was pissed. My table? Ehh, like I said we didn't pay for the Easter egg hunt, and had plans to hit a couple other places already. Just had to leave sooner than we thought. Any managerial excuses, are just excuses. It was not cool to do that to the folks who showed up at 3PM just because of the Easter egg hunt. And will take this down in a week. But, Hallidays deserves this little tweak. I was here during their 10yr anniversary weekend. There's so many good things to say. There was 9 people in my party, so the staff immediately said "no problem" & started putting chairs&tables together for us. A few locals were also set up inside the place selling the crafts&trinkets,along with the gift shop the winery has, made it for a pleasant shopping experience while we waited for our table. I've been here once before, but here is the "wow" of how these people run their business: The tastings were free,which we were unaware of when we sat down bcuz of anniversary, and they priced the wines to the price it was 10yrs ago for their anniversary. I call that a WOW. Bravo! The menu equally delicious, with a combo of pizzas,flatbreads,&small apps. The wine & sangria were decent, there was a red on the menu that I enjoyed, altho I did not make any purchases, I cant wait to go back a 3rd time the next time I visit Ohio. Staff is A+, that alone for me is a reason to come back. I really enjoyed our time here. read more

Food is good, the scenery is beautiful and the service is fast. You order and receive your food quickly. Sit up on top of the dam so that you can enjoy looking out on the lake while you eat. The live music was good too. Take your dog as well, because they can be outside with you! read more

Came here on a dreary April Saturday. My husband and I sampled with a flight and enjoyed them all. We chose a bottle of Craig to drink with some flatbread pizzas. Very cute and spacious inside, looked like they were setting up in one corner for some sort of large group or private event perhaps. There's also a small little wine shop with funny little gifts. I know I'd appreciate this place even more on a nice day when we could take our wine and food outside and eat by the lake. They have tons of picnic tables and yard out there to enjoy. We're hoping to ride our motorcycle back in the summer. read more

What a great place to go for a quiet afternoon on the waters edge surrounded by a lovely golf course. Wonderful local wines, nice cold beers from major breweries and a full bar. Food is very well priced bar type food, and delicious. It can be brought out to the picnic tables along the lakes edge to enjoy. Great staff, pleasant, helpful and smiling. This is COVID review. We love coming up on our wine trips. But this time. They have the weirdest set up. There is no flights; they don't want to use any glassware if they don't have too. So know what bottle you want when you come. You can't even get just a glass of Sangria you have to buy a bottle. They said it's the COVID Rules but other local wineries are doing business "almost" As usual. If you don't want to wash glasses. Use plastic cups. We grabbed a bottle and headed out. Sad that we couldn't have a little bit of the experience we have come to enjoy there. read more

A coworker had told my wife about this winery and we made the 40min trek to try it. The setting is nice, although there's so much untapped potential with the backdrop of the lake and the open lawn, that it's disappointing to have not done more with the space. The wine selection is rather small and nothing that would impress. I ordered a portobello mushroom sandwich that I believe was made with a different type of mushroom. It came with vegetable chips that were stale and looked as though they had come out of a vending machine. I'm glad we tried it because it's local, but we will not return. read more

In an old converted church (what's up with all these former houses of worship becoming houses of booze?), situated nicely between a golf course and the dam that creates Lake Milton is this beautifully renovated, nicely decorated, winery. Service was exceptional. The place is newly opened and it's pretty clear they're trying very hard. The tasting poors were small, too small really, but the wines are good. The wine bar is quite spacious, where they can easily accommodate a large crowd. Seating is in a large open area, possibly a little too well lit. You are limited to bar height tables for two, and regular tables for 4. The chairs are a little uncomforable. Don't plan to be here for a romantic moment with the significant other, it's not that way. Come with a group of friends. The wines are made by the winemaker at Debonne. This is my second experience in the past month with Debonne wines at places other than their winery. I've been there a few times and swore never again (if you care, read my review). But I'm thinking that people and times change. Both this place and Grand River Cellars Winery in Madison feature wines made by Debonne's winemaker and I'm very impressed with the dry reds. Something that happens very rarely in Ohio wineries. In the case of Halliday's, it's the Jesse's Red that I found to be quite tasty. Not as good as the Grand Red at Grand River, but it had a nice amount of stone fruit, but was a little light in the body. They also had an impressive, Sauvignon Blanc-like, white. Jacob's choice was rich and full, bordering on a Chardonnay in it's oakiness and slight buttery taste. Only slightly sweet, it was a nice sip after the panini I had. If you like a little sweeter (but not full-on sweet), I think you'd like the Pricetown Original. They do have food. It's a little pricey, but very good quality. I had a house salad ($7) that was mixed greens, a few grape tomatoes, some cucumber and onion with an Italian dressing. The ham and cheese panini ($9) was really good. The website is nicely done, there's live entertanment ,there's a small gift shop, and parking is ample. Seating outside in nicer months would be a real good idea. Give this place a shot, and support the locals. It beats driving to (and especially from) the Grand River Valley to have a winery experience. read more

The setting is fantastic. Right between a golf course and the lake it is extremely pretty. The winery is an old church and the inside is all wood and really nice. Now for the food and wines. We like dry red wines. They have a small selection. The ones we tried were very good. I also tried their coffee which was excellent. The food we tried were their flat bread pizzas. My wife had the bbq grilled chicken and she like it a lot. I had the chicken cordon bleu pizza. It too was tasty. They are small so if you have a big appetite you might want to eat before coming. All in all I would recommend this place. We plan in stopping the next time we are in the area. read more

I visited on 7/10/19, a hot summer day. No AC and they only have ceiling fans on their very high ceilings, so all it did was blow hot air on you. They definitely need to invest in pedestal fans, at the very least. Miserable inside experience. Food is mediocre and overpriced if you want the GF option. I agree with one of the other reviewers - they could do a lot more to make the outside seating areas more appealing. Wine quality is a 3 out of 5. Lots of potential here, but they've missed the mark. read more

I LOVE that we have such great places to go to living out here. Hallidays is "right on the lake" and it is gorgeous. The food is good and the people are fantastic. The scenic drive to this hidden winery alone is worth the trip, nothing but lush green fields & sparkling water. And once you get there the beauty doesn't stop. One of the things I liked the most about this winery is the unique tables, each table top has a different part of local history printed for all to read. They also use local ingredients to make an amazing bistro apple sandwich that everyone in my party enjoyed! It has a great smokiness combined with delicious crisp apples that is worth exploring. read more

I live just across the lake from this place and I love it to the max. You could not ask for more friendly servers, classy atmosphere, great food at reasonable prices, and a great selection of BEER. I know, this is a winery so why do I mention beer? Hallidays has a great selection of import, domestic, and local micro-brewery type beer for the non wine drinking guy taking his lady out for the evening. Also you won't be disappointed by the musical talent that is usually there on weekends. I love their happy hour when any drink is buy one, get one free. Check that out. It's a fairly new place and seems like it's only getting better all the time. The view of Lake Milton can't be beat from the outside patio area. Now if summer would just get here!!! read more

This winery is redefining the local wine business! Excellent Ohio wines. Many of my friends are amazed at the quality of all eight of their selections. Their cabernet (Jesse's Red) is by far the best cab I've enjoyed at the many Ohio wineries I've visited. The winery focuses on customer service since they have outsourced the manufacturing of their wines. Although the winery lacks the onsite manufacturing facility, it more than makes up for this with its' view of Lake Milton and Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course. Just an outstanding setting for spending some time with friends and family. I'll definitely be back many times in the future. read more

This is a wonderful spot to enjoy a romantic dinner or have a festive time with friends and family. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is delicious. For those that are vegetarians, there are delicious options available. And finally, the wine is incredible and the variety allows for all palates to be satisfied. The owner is very friendly and is willing to provide for any special requests. It is a great place to plan showers, parties, and family reunions. We have been to the winery 3 times and have had 3 different experiences. The wine has been the same all three times and is very good for Ohio wine. The wine selection is limited but all that we tasted has been good. It is nice that they sell beer (a decent selection of beer) because not everyone drinks wine. We were there once when everyone in the winery connected, they danced, talked to each other and had fun (they were not drunk). Another time we were there it was outside and the seating was limited so we sat with another couple and enjoyed that couple but the people didn't mingle and the overall experience wasn't as much fun or comfortable. You sit at picnic tables and they aren't quite as comfortable as chairs with backs. It was also a bit chilly and walking on the uneven ground can be risky. The duo who played that night could have been fun but they were to far from the people to get them going and into the groove. The 3rd time we were outside we had to move inside because of sprinkles and it was a bit chilly. Once we moved in, it was ok but very subdued. I guess we find it enjoyable when the people are closer together and closer to the music. Group dynamics can make or break an evening. The group who plays there can also get the audience involved or lull them to sleep. I know that not everyone dances but when we saw people dancing the duo (I didn't get their name, but wish I did) who played that night were instrumental in involving everyone, even if they were just watching. They played cheerful music, mostly fun 60s, 70s, and 80s music which kept everyone in high spirits. They even had a "Stroll" ( a 50s, early 60s dance where people have two lines that one couple dance down the middle). Most of the people dancing were just doing what they wanted but still it was fun. We keep going back because the staff is wonderful and helpful. I personally have a bit of a hard time sitting at the picnic tables because of my back and the length of the evening. I do enjoy music and they have had good music. Their wine (my opinion) is worth drinking and their food is very good. I am an outdoors type of person but really enjoy being indoor better at this winery. It is worth going to and we find ourselves gravitating to Halladay's more than the other Wineries. The hours are great (open a little later than others) and the people that work there are just super/ helpful, nice, and knowledgable. read more

We had our wedding ceremony and reception here about a year ago and had a fantastic experience. Ron, the owner, and all of the staff were extremely attentive and helpful throughout the process. They met with us several times before the wedding to be sure that every detail was in order. The location is absolutely beautiful. We had the ceremony right on the lake, which also provided a great backdrop for photos. They coordinated with all of our other vendors before and during the day to make sure that everything went smoothly. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had a perfect day. In fact, at one point, after we had been taking pictures on the golf course next door and the photographer realized he had dropped the memory card with most of the photos taken up to that point, Ron jumped in a golf cart and personally searched the grounds until it was found (which it was, fortunately). We could not be happier with our experience and highly recommend Halliday's Winery as a wedding venue! read more
