I like to imagine the industry that played out in the space where I'm resting, the thought of someone taking a break from wheeling and dealing to look out of this same window in the 1940s and what else was going on around them. I'd never been to Meridian before, just passed through on the same road trip home after the holidays. It's about 4 and a half hours from NOLA and the perfect place to stay before the final leg of the trip home so that we'd be home at a reasonable hour. Meridian feels a bit frozen in time and this hotel is situated in a quaint downtown area. It's not very lively, even on a Saturday night but I believe the rooftop bar here might be where the action is (I passed it by when getting water in the gym that's on the same floor). I like a Tribute property, which always promises a less corporate/more boutique stay. It has its charm (original mail chute, be still my heart!) and quirks (tiny rooms, old timey elevators that take their time). The main lobby is mainly the restaurant (closed when I arrived around 9pm on a Saturday) with reception in what seems like bank teller windows. I appreciate the convenience of a Starbucks right next door (entrance from the lobby) and if we weren't looking to rest after a endless car ride, there's a few places to get food/drinks within walking distance. Rooms are cozy, beds are excellent and the bathroom is small/nothing special. Would this be an ideal stay for a vacation? Probably not, though I don't expect a vacation in Meridian anytime soon, if ever. I'd stay again, as a more interesting road trip stay than your typical Marriott Courtyards/Fairfield/Residence Inns. When we stayed it was only a little over 100 dollars/night, which is pretty sweet.

Our room was spacious, clean w with w very comfortable beds. Mattress was one of the best I had in many of my hotel stays. On the other hand the room had a very limited space for clothes. Extremely narrow one. Checking crew was a very professional, friendly and helpful. In the restaurant we didn't have the same experience. Out of two restaurants one was closed for private event.

They have a…read morepool table and a nice concession stand surrounding the check-in which is centered in the lobby. There are different feeding areas for gathering and games for children as well. They have cute comfortable nook to sit in with computers and then out door seating area in the back of the hotel with the fire pit and even a grill and table for checkers. The room was very comfortable with pulldown shades that walked out most of the light from outside. Let me sleep in a bit longer. I was on the fourth floor, and I had absolute peace and quiet throughout the night. The bed was so comfortable and that saying a lot with someone who has pinched nerve back issues . There was a nice size flatscreen TV and plenty of good lighting in different areas of the room. There is no carpeting, which is nice and sanitary, but I put a towel down by my bed to make sure I wipe my feet before I get in it. I love whitening on the bed so that you can make sure it's clean before you get in it. The bed was firm enough with just the right softness, and the pillows were plump With a mixture, feather pillows, and fiber fill maybe. The bathroom was nice and modern with one sink and good size shower. They have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower which smells amazing. I don't usually use the hotel shampoo that are on the wall, but this one really was nice and I absolutely did use it. They also have hand wash and lotion and a hair dryer by the sink area. The reason I did give only four stars is because I had to switch rooms due to the fact that the first room bathroom was not cleaned properly. The commode had fecal matter on the inside of the toilet, The toilet rim had urine spots and public hair on it and you could see a ring due to the water stain as well meaning it had not been properly cleaned in a while and the second bathroom also had the ring, but appeared to have no fecal matter. There were also dirty handprints on the white door of the inside of the bathroom, which all tells me there is not enough time spent cleaning and checking these restrooms which to me is essential to have a clean sanitized bathroom. When I got into the second room as I'm turning on the TV while standing a huge cockroach ran out from under the bed and I stepped on it. I didn't mention this to the sweet young lady that was at the front desk after having moved me once. I got it up and didn't have any further problems with any type of bugs. The room seemed clean and with the surrounding woods I'm sure there's bound to be a bug every now and then somewhere. I guess. All of the staff are very friendly and greet you and say good morning and hello and we're very accommodating. Overall, I had a very nice night and would definitely stay in a true hotel including this one again.

This location does have some Mississippi/Meridian flare like the mural in their gaming/lounge area The rooms are nice and clean. The furniture is practical, modern, and simplistic. There is a mini Fridays and tv... though I couldn't get my tv to turn to different channels The workout room offers a variety of machines, weight lifting options, as well as options for low impact workouts like. The complimentary breakfast is nothing overly fancy, but they do a good job offering some variety. We were also offered waters on arrival, and they had fresh/warm Ottis Spunkmeyer cookies in the lobby for guests The staff is very friendly. I was impressed with the personable nature of a handful of the front desk attendants. That being said, it took everyone a looking time to get checked in. Also, later in the week there was an issue with the credit card reader which caused a bit of a delay in getting people checked in and out In the evening the lobby is often full of people playing pool, drinking beer, and enjoying themselves. It looked like harmless fun, but this was practically every night. Also, a couple chairs in the lobby/business area looked to be stained from spills/messes, and this is prominent as the upholstery has such vibrant colors Some tips: If you're staying for a week or so, remember that Tru doesn't have a housecleaning option like most hotels. Consider asking for fresh sheets and towels. Take advantage of the complimentary breakfast Cheers!

Although we have deep roots in the area, we were visiting for our family reunion. The least that can be given is common courtesy, especially as paying patrons. I noticed it was not only myself, my family, but also other people who 'looked like' me that were spoken to harshly. We would have stayed elsewhere if other places weren't fully booked. Thankfully, by the time we checked out a wonderful young lady by the name of Tourea was pleasant, she heard my complaint(s) after asking how was our stay, and even apologized on behalf of the rudeness that was displayed. She did not have to do that! I would not recommend staying here, unless it is a last resort of some kind. The rooms were fine - microwave and fridge included. The breakfast was below mediocre, not good at all. So, I opted for the fruit.

The rooms were clean and tidy -- not fancy, but the kind of clean that makes you feel like you won't get bedbugs. The hotel sits tucked off the highway so you're spared the constant road-rage soundtrack, which for a road-warrior like me was a big plus. Added bonus for me: my austistic son was able to access the pool on Black Friday. While he froze his little butt off, at least he was happy! Staff and crew got extra brownie points: checkout was smooth, front-desk couldn't have been friendlier, and everything felt handled with a "we got you" vibe. All in all -- a little better than average, with good overall quality and cleanliness. Worth a night or two if you find yourself in Meridian.

We booked this hotel for one night during our trip to Florida. I will say the staff was nice at check-in, and the lobby seemed clean and well-kept. Let me start with the room. There were several spots in the carpet where square holes had been cut out, and the carpet was just placed back down over the top. There was also some nasty crud on the shower curtain. I'm not sure if it was mold or something else. The air conditioner sounded like it was on its last leg and was so loud it seemed like it was about to take off and leave the room. I also tried to call the front desk using the phone in the room, but it no longer worked. Overall, the cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired. On the day of check-out, we went down for the free breakfast, and I'm thankful my wife noticed that the chocolate milk had gone bad. It was chunky and slimy. We also heard another small child say, "This milk is slimy." That was enough breakfast for us, so we decided to go back to the room. Not long after, we heard a knock at the door, and within just a few seconds, a housekeeping employee came barging in. Talk about awkward. I'm just glad we weren't staying another night and were able to get out of there. I'm giving it two stars only because the staff was always nice.
