Never have I ever paid $12,000 to be treated so poorly by a contractor. First they took a big deposit from me in March to not deliver until June. Second, there was awful communication about plant care (watering) requirements until I called to tell them the plants were dying. Next, they mulched right up to the stems, which even novice gardeners know is a no-no. When the owner came by to discuss the issues he was actually shouting at me in my own yard and refused to replace sick plants. Think twice before hiring these guys. read more

We used this company to design and install a new landscape scheme after our septic system failed and we had to take down much of the tree and planting in front of out home. They did a decent job with the design snd installation and were ok maintaining it for the next couple years, but it became increasingly difficult to get their attention for necessary maintenance services over the three years they said it takes to fully establish a new landscape design. This year we had already agreed to a full season of maintenance work at their standard prices and were looking forward to their services. This is a pricy firm, but we never complained about this or tried to negotiate their prices. We paid what we were billed and did so promptly within a day or two of being billed. We did not have a history of being a difficult client. Quite the reverse. This year, the third year of the initial maintenance period they said was so important, we discussed replacing 9 of 12 plants of one species that died. Another larger plant was doing badly, and we discussed replacing it with a tree that would be a more costly investment. The designer contact we had always worked with promised a proposal for the services we discussed as an addition to the maintenance proposal we already had in place for the season. We did not complain or discuss any price adjustment for the plants that died We also had a minor issue with a bill for mulch that we asked to be adjusted and several sections of the irrigation system that needed attention. When I contacted the office to follow up on the proposal and discuss the mulch bill, the response was curt, impolite and unprofessional. When I asked the landscaper/designer, with whom we always had discussed our services, to call me, my request was refused, we were notified that the firm would not service us any longer, and would not take any further responsibility for the landscaping problems we had with their initial installation. I have never been treated like that from any company we have ever done business with, and I don't believe we did anything to warrant this kind if treatment. It is clear to me the company has serious management issues maintaining what they install. They resist replacing plants that die or do not do well. It also seems that they feel this part of their business doesn't pay them enough to give it the attention it deserves. I would not recommend doing business with this company. Their follow up and their concern for customer satisfaction after the initial installation is paid is seriously deficient. Also, apparently from other reviews we have seen so far this year, we are not alone in the treatment we received. read more

Very disappointing. We started with Hamilton three years ago and bought an extensive amount of plants- however, year 3 we had problems with several of the plants and when we tried to discuss our problems they would not speak with us. We received an email saying that because of a labor shortage they could not service us any longer. That was two days after we were promised a proposal dealing with our problems. PLEASE do not use them. Very upsetting to be treated this way, extremely unprofessional. read more

I used this company for full service landscaping including tree removal, installation of a large area of conservation planting with new granite steps, clean-ups, pruning, maintenance of beds, and mowing. They are very expensive and I paid them thousands of dollars each year. I worked remotely last summer and I maintained the beds myself and only had them mow. This year they fired me! Apparently I didn't pay them enough last summer. They did not even have the courtesy to tell me so that I could work on getting another company. I contacted them and they replied that they were only taking care of "full service" clients. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Hamilton. I first called them to clean up a job from another company, and they far surpassed all expectations. They were fast, efficient and had no problem walking me through the process. When it came time to tackle a larger back yard renovation, they were my first and only call. They removed and transplanted numerous bushes, cleared a ton of brush, laid down cedar chips and planted a new lawn. The yard has never looked better.
