I will NEVER order from this company again. For Father's Day 2025, I ordered an item 30 days in advance. After non-receipt, I contacted customer service about a week before Father's Day and only then did they tell me the item wouldn't be received under 3 weeks after Father's Day. I tried them one more time and ordered a birthday present for my niece, this time 6 weeks in advance. I just called (4 weeks later) and customer service told me the item has been CANCELLED. When I asked why they hadn't contacted me, she just apologized and said the money would be refunded. I purchased an all-format music center unit from Hammecher Schlemmer and paid $285.32. November 2024. I determined that I paid too much for it and returned it. I never took it out of the box. The website says that a refund will be issued within 3 weeks from the date they receive the item at their warehouse. I documented and they agreed that they received my unit back on November 19. No refund was forthcoming. I wrote and called multiple times and was told they were currently processing refunds for returns received on November 18. It is now January 3, 2025 and still no refund. I would not recommend doing business with this company. Follow-up to first review: Interesting - after posting this review in the morning, I received an email that evening from customer service stating that my money was being refunded that day. The lifetime gaurantee is a joke, I bought a $2000 Christmas tree, they sent 4 boxes over 50lbs each that contained extra parts of some sections and other sections were missing so couldn't make a tree out of it. Called support immediately and they agreed to refund upon return, supposedly they scheduled a UPS pickup but UPS never received anything from them. After 3 months of contacting support, being assured that UPS would pick up, being told I could always ship back at my own expense that would not be reimbursed I gave up and disputed with my credit card company. Hammacher Schlemmer is a complete rip off. They say 100% satisfaction guaranteed and life time warranty which is a complete lie. I bought a rechargeable fan so I did not have to use the cord. It stopped working so I contacted them for a replacement and I found a $59 fee on by charge card. I have called customer service 2 times and each time they say there is a fee for postage which is fine and that the rest of the fee is part of the swap. They will not let me talk to a manager and at this point I have paid 50% of the replacement cost for something that should have been free. Beautiful stuff in their catalog especially the Christmas stuff. I had spent close to a thousand dollars with this company over the last few years until this last incident. They do not stand by their lifetime warranty unless you complain to the BBB. Paid over 300 for a 6 foot Santa. Poor design as there was not a mechanism to attach the top of the Santa to the bottom. Returned it. Waited weeks with no response. Reached out to them and was told they were several weeks backlogged on returns. Waited a few more weeks again. No refund. Checked the BBB site (which is what I should have done to begin with) and found that people who post complaints over there were promptly getting their money back on their returns. So, I posted a complaint. Lo and behold I got a response within the week with a refund amount. However, they attempted to short me shipping costs plus some. I objected and they ended up returning all of my money including shipping. It is obvious that their business model is to only issue refunds if the customer complains to the BBB. Otherwise, ignore. Today, November 26, I spoke with Tanya in Customer Service. She says they do not have the item; it is on back-order from the supplier. I told her I am logged on to my Citibank Card account and the charge is right there. She doubled down and said that is not a charge, that is merely an approval. I bought a travel alarm clock with a ceiling projection for $49.00 from Hammacher Schlemmer online. When it eventually arrived, it was wrapped like a 4 year would wrap it with tape all over it. It wasn't sent from HS, but from its vendor. It indicates that it was made in China and certainly looks like it was. It was no better than a cheap trinket and probably cost the Chinese $1.25 to make it. When I posted a negative review of this product on Hammacher Schlemmer's website, it never appeared, thereby calling into question how many negative reviews were posted but never published. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I would give them zero stars if I could. I ordered a pre-lit pull up Christmas tree. My credit card was charged for the purchase THAT SAME DAY. I received the tree a week later and proceeded to assemble it - a procedure which was described as very easy in their catalogue. Well, the tree was a nightmare to put together and, when I finally got it assembled, I realized it looked like a cheap piece of junk, despite costing $200.00. I immediately repacked it and called for a return label. I delivered the return to UPS that day and it was delivered to Hammacher three days later. When I called customer service to check on the status of my refund, I was told that the "refund process" takes 30 days and there was NO WAY for them to expedite my refund. I informed the agent that it had taken approximately 15 minutes for the charge to be applied to my credit card and why does it take 30 days for the same accounting department to issue a refund and was told that is just the way it is.
