People in the convenience and customer service business should be left behind who refuse to keep up with technology. Do they feel that you get a better quality haircut if at first you have to drive to your bank or ATM before visiting their facility? Ridiculous and a complete waste of time. Some of us are in a hurry. It isn't that difficult to accept credit and debit cards... similar to the rest of the free world. If you're looking for convenience, take your business elsewhere.

Fortunately, that stranger with scissors today was Alyssa, and we immediately fell into great, continual conversation as soon as I entered. What was a forty-minute appointment felt like fifteen, as I simply felt so comfortable chatting with her on a variety of subjects while she managed to do wonders on my shaggy mop. The shop itself is nice and clean, and there's a large TV you can look at if you're not feeling chatty. Everyone was wearing masks, so they clearly take the pandemic seriously, which is good. Payment is currently cash or Venmo, which is actually more convenient than I thought. I don't use Venmo often, but it beat having to go up to a register and check out etc. The parking situation is a little tight, though one minor bonus is that the shop is a few doors down from Si Senor, which has some amazing sandwiches. But overall, I couldn't be happier with my cut and the rapport I had with Alyssa, and I'll certainly be returning regularly as a result.

I have visited this shop multiple times; however, just like many others, I am picky about my cut and barber (meaning I will only go to them, once I've found that person), so I can only recommend my guy Kellis Waller - this guy goes above and beyond. Taking the time to get to know your hair, your likes, etc. the technic is good, fades are even better, the process prior to shaving makes a huge difference and he remembers his clients. If you are like me, you might not have time to wait for a chair to open so I was happy to hear they use the Booksy app to schedule appointments. Just be mindful things might have to change at times (we all have lives out side of our work and things happen) don't be one of those people that gives barbers a hard time.

Blake Thomas is one of the barbers at Rathbone Barbershop. I had him cut my hair twice before…read more(after having arrived recently in Dublin). To make this short: Blake had called a day before a Monday appointment at 2:45, to change this to Tuesday, 2:45. My wife and I rearranged our schedules for Tuesday, 2:45. When we arrived, Blake was cutting hair on someone and told me he couldn't cut my hair, that he had assigned me to another barber - female. My wife and I have personal boundaries and religious beliefs concerning physical contact by the opposite sex. I calmly said "Not gonna happen", and my wife in the background quietly said the same thing. Blake became very perturbed and asked if 4:30 was ok. We both agreed, left and drove home to attend to matters we were going to complete after my cut at 2:45. We had to struggle through rush hour traffic to return to the barbershop. When we arrived at 4:35, the doors were closed, the lights were shut off and no one was there. I texted him on my frustration over the whole matter and said I would be a loyal and valuable customer - UNTIL he wrote back and verbally assaulted my wife. He said she was uncontrolled and that our beliefs on non-contact were silly. That, "just because the other barber was a woman, and that her cutting my hair would result in some sort of unprofessional or inappropriate interaction is incredibly insulting." His manner was very unprofessional. For a barber to verbally attack and demean my wife is not acceptable. Please be aware of his sexism, and over-exaggeration. His immaturity not only comes out in his actions and unprofessionalism, but his cuts are average anyway.

They focus on quality cuts, customer experience, and good conversation. I see Ian the most, and he truly cares about everyone that sits in his chair. I cannot recommend this shop enough.
