Aubrey is a straight-up hair wizard. I walk in with vague hand gestures and half-baked descriptions like, "kinda shorter but not too short, you know?"--and somehow, he nails it every single time. It's like he reads my mind, but only the part that knows what a good haircut looks like. I've had the same person cut my hair for two years and having longer men's hair is always a gamble going to a new place - but Devin did a great job at listening to what I was looking for and adding his own creative flare to a look like i keep getting compliments on. Six years ago, I purchased a day for my husband at Holy Moses. I loved the name so I had to do it! He loved it! He's very particular about his beard and his bald head. So he had some trepidation about going, but he's asked me over our six-year marriage if he could do it again. Time just gets in the way and, we get busy. The stylists here are great at what they do but I had a TERRIBLE customer experience here with Madison (front desk) and Mary (stylist). For the record I've been a regular and have exclusively had my haircut here every 3ish weeks for the last 8 months and always tip 25%-35%. Today they just lost a long term customer. Called an hour ahead of my appointment to ask if it would be OK if I were 10 minutes late. I spoke to Madison on the phone, and was specifically told "we have a 15 minute grace period, and your appointment is for 45minutes, so as long as you check in by 5:15 you will be fine but because Mary has another client right after you, if you arrive after 5:15 we would have to cancel". I showed up at 5:10, exactly 10 minutes late as previously discussed. Had to stand in line and checked in successfully by 5:12 and was sent to the waiting area to wait. After waiting for 2 minutes Mary came and introduced herself and had me sit in her chair. She then explained because I was late she would only be able to "clean up the sides with a trimmer" and couldn't touch the top of my hair (not even acknowledging how ridiculous that would look, nor acknowledging that $40 to "trim the sides" is ridiculous). I told her that I had called ahead, spoke to Madison who said this would all be OK over the phone, and even pulled Madison into the conversation to confirm. All I got was "sorry, there is nothing we can do". I am so upset about this - I would have cancelled if I was told this ahead of time. I loved getting my haircuts here but sadly will not be coming back. read more

Went in for a walk-in on a Friday morning. Lots of places around Columbus for higher-end barbershops have appointment only and no longer take walk-ins which is frustrating. I head in around 12, they have some openings at 1:30 and 2-2:30. I snagged 1:30 and went next door for a beer while I waited. Rashelle Mattox cut my hair and did an amazing job. She had great conversation, was funny, and kept me entertained the whole time. She cut my hair exactly as I asked, and made sure each step was right. Lenght, styling, and even where I wanted the part. Many barbers will try to put in their own part but she made sure to check before each step which was very relieving. $35 for a classic haircut, cant be beat! Being new to Columbus I have been looking for a good shop that I can go consistently with a good vibe and clean cut. Holy Moses is definitely that place! I called ahead for an appointment and they were very friendly, easy and got an appointment for the same day with Chad. When I arrived parking was easy to find, the shop inside has an awesome feel, is very open and well suited for COVID times. There is a great waiting area off to the side and also benches outside depending on your preference. The barber began with some small talk making the experience more than comfortable with a solid consultation making sure he knew exactly what I was looking for in the cut. The cut also came with a wash / shampoo and straight razor shave for the line up which was done to perfection. As I'm new to town he also gave me some solid recommendations on venues throughout the city and made the experience memorable overall! I will definitely be coming back regularly and would highly recommend anyone looking for a solid service to do so as well! read more

Really cool spot, they are relaxed and knowledgeable and give a great haircut and a top shelf shave (it's a dying art for places to offer full service barbering). I found this barber shop through Yelp of course. I was on a business trip in Columbus and was in need of a fresh fade. The location of the shop is tuck in an alley so slow down or you'll missed it. I think the building in front of it is a brewery. Parking is minimal so good luck. The place is very...I guess chic? Minimal but it's fresh. It's bright, like it's fucking hella bright. It's dope. I booked an appointment and as soon as I got in the door, I was greeted and met Khalil whom I was assigned to and off to his chair. My man got some gentle giant paws and an artist with the clippers. I took my brother to get his haircut here after reading several reviews. This place didn't disappoint. You are pampered and treated really well throughout the whole experience. Garrett was wonderful. Friendly and made the experience comfortable for the both of us. He pulled up a chair for me so i could sit and talk with them both as my brother got his hair cut. They also offer really good coffee while you wait. So take advantage of that! Garrett listened to what my brother was looking for and his hair came out even better than we expected. I just got my haircut 3 days ago 8/4/21 I am a male. After having my hair long for 9 years I finally wanted it cut short. I looked everywhere for the right place to cut it at and after searching everywhere I found this place. I really wanted my first experience of having my hair short to be great but it was far from that. I'm not hating on this place looks very professional and full of very nice people I'm just hating on the stylist who cut my hair Joshua. Joshua was honestly a very good guy. I told him how I was finally ready to cut my hair after having it long for so many years. I asked him for a Midfade which he responded to me "a skin fade?" And I said yea that's fine but asked him to still leave the top fairly long and that I still wanted to keep my hair flipped to side. I sat through my haircut and trusted the process and the process failed. My complain is more about his work it sucked very inconistent with patches, one side longer than the other and cut unevenly. He had so much hair to work with don't know how he managed to mess this up. Joshua is honestly not good enough of a stylist to cut hair here the haircut was 35$ plus tip. Joshua is one of the only stylist who charge 35$ for a haircut at this place most charge 38$ and up , thinking back now I wish I would of payed 3$ more for a different stylist. Honestly would recommend paying that 38$ for a different stylist because quite honestly I could of got a better haircut somewhere else for cheaper or even had my dad do it and turn out better. Holy Moses is a fantastic barber shop with a modern feel and amazing staff. I found Holy Moses after my barber had to move out of state about a year ago. I tried out multiple barbers around Columbus and finally came across Holy Moses about two months ago. The barbershop itself is very clean and high energy. I have been going to the barber David for the past two months and he is amazing. David has been providing superb haircuts with such precision and attention to detail that it surpasses all the other shops I've gone too. I highly recommend anyone in search of a new barber to book an appointment with David. I have to admit, that I have not experienced any other barber, so I am bias in my recommendation. HIGHLY recommended! I am out here visiting from San Diego for my cousin's wedding and I wanted a quality cut. My search started online and I requested a reservation and was responded to quickly by the owner. When I called in and spoke with Amber she made sure I could be seen even though they were busy. She put me on the schedule with enough time to get ready for the wedding. I was scheduled with Kasey who is amazing! The place oozes cool and the stylists are all phenomenal, down to earth people that definitely aren't just trying too hard (like most other barber shops). They really are that cool. This is probably the easiest 5-star review that I have ever given. I have been coming to Holy Moses for 2 years now and my barber, Andrew, has been nothing short of exceptional. Every single haircut I have gotten over the past 2 years has turned out exactly how I wanted! The interior is modern, and you are welcomed with a drink, if you'd like one. The haircut itself takes about 45 minutes to an hour and ends with a straight razor neck shave. The haircuts also come with a free touch-up to be used anytime within 2 weeks to clean up hair around the ears and neck. Walked in hoping to get a haircut for a ten year old with no appointment. They accommodated us immediately and Brian was very good with Logan! He made a very squirmy ten year old feel comfortable and engaged him in conversation, talking about school and video games. Logan's hair cut looks great! Everyone at the shop was great as well. A great little spot that was hopping when I went in. Met with refreshment and a nice cozy seat, I enjoyed myself for the short wait time on a near walk-in (45 minute notice appointment ). They have a good range of grooming products, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I got a beard trim to cut down on the face salad, and Mike had me done with clean lines and a sharp look in 15 minutes flat. When I walked out the door I was gifted with a few samples for the old dry soup brush that is my mustache, as well as some pro tips for keeping everything tidy until the next go round. I'm not sure why it took me the better part of 3 DECADES to try a NON-chain salon, but now that I finally took the plunge, I'm absolutely a believer! (Sorry, Sport Clips. It's not me. It's you. We had a good ride while it lasted.) Anywho, back to Holy Moses. From the second I walked into this incredibly clean and stylish establishment, I knew I'd be in good hands. As a walk-in with no appointment, I had 20 minutes to sit in the waiting room and people-watch. One by one, the customers ahead of me finished up, and not a single one of them left with anything short of a stellar cut. Before I knew it, my turn arrived. My stylist, James, introduced himself with a smile and a handshake and led me to his area. Conveying the cut I wanted was as simple as bringing up a picture on my phone and showing him. Piece of cake. Not only did the guy obviously know hair and love his job, but he was genuinely one of the friendliest and most engaging stylists I've ever had cut my hair. We talked about everything from our mutual love of the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Era hats to crazy incidents while on the clock. Not a minute passed in silence, and if we weren't just generally shooting the sh*t, James was giving me helpful tips on how to style my hair at home. I could go on and on, but y'all aren't here to read a novel. My experience with Holy Moses was fantastic. The location itself was clean, well-lit, and just generally full of good vibes. Parking wasn't a chore thanks to a handful of spots right outside. Every single employee I interacted with was helpful and kind, from the woman working the front desk to the other stylists. James did an amazing job with my hair and was a pleasure to talk to. Let's put it this way: when (not IF) I return, I will be making an appointment with him. I think that speaks for itself. All said and done, my cut was $40. Adjusting for gratuity brought my total closer to $50, so it certainly wasn't the cheapest haircut I've ever had. I certainly believe I got what I paid for, but it's still one of the priciest of those I considered. Just wanted to leave this review to say Abby and all the people at Holy Moses are top notch. They created a very easygoing environment, their prices are fair, and they provide great service and style. I always had a nice time when I went there, and always left looking and feeling great.
