Terra Gallery is a working gallery that hosts a variety of hands on events listed either on their site or on eventbrite. I didn't spend much time exploring the gallery because I was pretty sure I'd need all of the time for my project, but there were a lot of interesting looking pieces that I will plan to explore more in the future. The space is a little small, but they have made good use of it, and are planning a move across to Bridge Park soon. I was glad I recruited a friend to join, because we were the only two people in the class! It was a fairly laid back event. The instructor had sketched out the details on the canvases before we arrived, and they provided a little instruction card that kind of showed how to build your piece up. As usual with these events, we ended up with two very different finished products, and my friend chose not to add some of the elements to her piece. April helped her take things out as she preferred. Since it was just the two of us, we were chatting and painting and the instructor was working on her own piece while another woman priced pieces in the gallery. They were very friendly and I had a great time!

You start with raw, unfinished wood and destress, sand, stain, put your sign together and create the art. When you walk out you will have a sign that is ready to hang (hanging wire attached), which is great! The staff was feisty but generally helpful. They have wine and beer for purchase which makes for a great night out! I love my sign and plan on coming back.

When I picked a Christmas countdown to do it was definitely one of the harder picks but the instructors helped me so much! They helped me pick out where to place certain things and they let me pick out my own painting colors and stains which the freedom with that was awesome! They offer so many options that each person in our family has been able to participate in one of their programs (the discount for multiple programs has kept us coming back!) I have taken almost all the Health and Safety Trainings that they offer-I have enjoyed the small class size as well as how each instructor makes sure the participants know the material and feel comfortable using the techniques used in the class. My son has taken the Little Surfers Fit Board Fusion class-the teacher is patient and takes the time to give him individual attention. Each week he is excited to come home and tell us what positions he has done on the "surf" board! Last year my son took an art enrichment class through the center. I was amazed at the qualifications of the art instructor for a child's art class! He came home with so much knowledge about famous artists. We are looking forward to receiving their class schedule this fall! This year we plan to enroll in the parenting class, private music lessons as well as the gardening seminars.
