My last time there it was standing room only inside with the parking lot overflowing across the street and at least 9 gators there. Outside was packed too. They only had 2 bartenders and they were faster than jack rabbits. Our group of 7 only had to wait 5 minutes for drinks max. They were jam packed, but cranking out food in house and takeout. We were warned it was an hour wait on wings which we expected. Our wings were out in 40 minutes flat. They have amazing wings and pizza every single time! They are a well oiled machine! They're busy because they're amazing! Best wings in Olean hands down.

Steak salad seemed like Steak Ums. Steak sub was slightly better but was light on steak. Burger was fine, nothing special. That was the good. Here's the bad; they will bring you two dressings for your salad and charge for one. They will ask if you want a dip with your pickle chips and not mention it's an up-charge. They will offer you to substitute fries for the chips which come with a burger not mentioning the charge is not a few dollars but the full price of the side, $5. For that $5 all those fries could fit in the palm of my hand. I should have asked for the chips too. Order a mixed drink? You're getting charged for a double whether you know it or not. In conclusion, this is a fine place to stop for a BEER or two but there are much better options in the area for food, for quality and value.

This place is truly a hidden gem…read more Tucked away amongst the train tracks and commercial buildings is this awesome little spot to grab a drink and some tasty food. The building is a nice wooden structure with ample parking and an outdoor seating area. Once inside, the beautiful wood theme continues holding a few tables and some bar seating. On the night that we went, there were about six Railhead beers on tap with one non-Railhead cider available as well. The beers were a good assortment including a Kolsch, IPA, Sour, etc. I had a flight of 4 and they were all good. On the food side, we had a personal pizza and a soft pretzel, but they also offer a cheese plate, candied bacon and more. The pizza was absolutely the best that I've had anywhere in the area and the pretzel was delicious as well. The pretzels are made fresh each day (so when they run out, they run out for the day). Watching the pizza cooking in the wood fired oven, with a nice cold beer in my hand was a truly beautiful thing. I should mention that they have 10 different pizzas on the menu, plus a special of the day which means that they had a bigger selection of pizzas than beers and that was just fine with us. Again, everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful and the prices were fair. What more could you ask for?

Update: in the past week or so, they've extensively redecorated the restaurant, ditched the walls…read morefull of sports memorabilia, and softened the relentless music and lighting. Has Applebee's grown up? The atmosphere is improved, and you can carry on a conversation without shouting across the table. There are more big-screen TVs with hockey, basketball, etc. than in the past. Not sure how LCD screens have become a necessity in restaurant decor -- and heaven forbid one of them should show something other than a sporting event. Menu hasn't changed much -- too many entrees are over-reliant on cream or cheese sauces. (Who needs a cream sauce on steak, really?) But they happily left the sauce off my small (7 oz.) sirloin, served it medium as ordered (not medium-rare), and it made for a light, 550-calorie late meal. I'm guessing that the portions are now a little smaller to pay for the redecoration, because the menu prices looked the same. Really important: call ahead to make sure there's no "special event" taking place. A couple of Thursday nights have included a deejay, a black-light bar night, or some similar event that added noise to the relatively small space. It is what it is. Applebee's won't ever be a grown-up restaurant, but they've taken large strides toward becoming less and less like an overstuffed garage with a cheap old boombox stereo. Nice move.
