We selected Finnerty's Tap Room for an early Saturday evening dinner based on the promise that they Gluten Free very seriously (I found this claim on their website). Finding any GF options when visiting small towns can be a challenge so I'm really thankful to have found Finnerty's! We ordered: - Jalapeño Poppers (for my gluten-consuming husband) - Stuffed Banana Peppers (Gluten Free) - Chicken Wings ordered well done with hot sauce (Gluten Free) - Smash Burger on Gluten Free Sesame Bun & Chips - Hamburg Carrot Cake Brown Ale (for my Gluten-consuming husband) There were only 3 Jalapeño Popper left so our server didn't charge us for them. They were your run-of-the-mill frozen poppers; nothing special. The Stuffed Banana Peppers were a special for the day and they were pretty delicious. They were cheesy, stuffed with sausage and topped with a delicious tomato red sauce. The Chicken Wings were well done, as we requested but were average which was a surprise considering all of the claims to be award winning. The Gluten Free Sesame Bun was one of the best GF buns I've had but the burger patties were average. The meat didn't seem like it was seasoned but the cheese and grilled onions helped add some flavor. Not worth $15.95, in my opinion especially because you have to pay $1.50 each for any additional toppings and it only comes with generic potato chips. The Hamburg Carrot Cake Brown Ale was listed on the draft beer list but was served in a can. Our server was attentive and had a kind/sweet personality. Here's a few highlights about the space: - Pool Table - Golden Tee Golf Video Game - Hockey Foosball Table Game - Old Arcade Video Game - 8+ TVs; I believe they're usually tuned into sports. - Music was really loud; it was somewhat difficult to hear our server. Went here for lunch after snow tubing since everyone in my party was in the mood for a burger/sandwich. In terms of the quality of food, no one was disappointed, but it was annoying that the menu prices we saw when researching the place online and what was on the menus onsite were all different. From a $1-$2 more for lots of items. Not saying we wouldn't have still went otherwise, but that was a bit frustrating. That's why the one star drop (Keep your menus keep to date, please) I ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich which was super yummy. It came with coleslaw on the sandwich and fries. At first glance, I definitely thought I'd request for BBQ sauce, but it ended up being perfect as is. Had an evening meal here on a recent family getaway ski trip. They must have been understaffed the night we were there, because two servers (one of them the bartendress) were covering the entire space and the timing of meals took much longer than you'd might expect. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays, and the "fell" was cozy and warm. My girls commented that they thought the place ought to be decorated year-round like this, as it gave off such a comfortable feeling. Finnerty's has a decent selection of beers, the Rohrbach vanilla porter which we chose was creamy and smooth with the slightest hint of vanilla bean. We ordered an appetizer to share around the table and everyone chose their own entree. The pizza logs appetizer was underwhelming. Five rolled-up pepperoni slices wrapped around mozarella cheese and deep fried. The pepperoni was barely detectable. The dish came with a side of marinara sauce which was served cold...would have been much better had the sauce been warm. The FTR house burger was overcooked (per my medium-rare ask), but still turned out fairly tasty. The burger was a standard cheeseburger, nothing more nothing less. The fries on the side were average but plentiful. My wife and girls all seemed to feel similarly about their dishes...decent enough but nothing special. For the money, there are other / better options in town but we may yet give them another try on some other trip. read more

Came here for a wedding reception. The service was really great. Everyone was super friendly. The buffet style meal was good. My personal favorite was the roast beef from the carving station. It was super tender! The table was filling up with dirty plates and glasses. The waitress came over and asked to take the glasses because they were running low but left the rest of the plates and dirty dishes. One of my wine glasses had many lip stains all over it but the bartender was very apologetic and was pleased when I just asked for plastic. My brother in law is vegan so they made him a special meal. Huge sports bar located next to Wingate by Windham hotel. It's right within walking distance of the center of Ellicottville. It's a nice place to go to if you are looking for something besides EBC beers. They almost always have Hamburg on tap. I've been here a few times and always enjoyed myself and their food is delicious. Lots of places to sit including big or small tables and a bar. During COVID they setup social distancing and followed all guidelines from what I could see. Sad to see the dart boards/pool/jukebox all turned off but I understand and can't wait till this is over to enjoy those amenities again. My favorite part of the menu is how many Reuben type options are available. Open Reuben, Closed Reuben, Reuben fries, and my favorite - REUBEN TOTS! So yum! Skip this place. There are too many good restaurants in Ellicottville to waste your time or money here. I ordered a greek salad. It tasted moldy. The chicken was beyond dry. My husband had the corned beef dinner (St Patty's Day weekend). The entire dinner was cold and had celery as one of the veges? Weird. It took 35 minutes to get drinks, which weren't good and probably cost a small fortune (don't know yet as I am writing this we are still at the restaurant, lord knows how long it'll take to get the bill. We did wait over an hour for food. Staff was ok, not too friendly and alot of them wandered around looking lost. There was one waitress walking around giving out free shots... didn't even approach our table. Overall crappy experience. The Gin Mill across the street is FAR superior. read more

Great place! Stumbled upon it during Fall Fest. Lots of seating and right on the main stretch. Food is pub style but a lot of gf options and the menu is clearly labeled. Ellicottville, known as "E-ville" to locals, reminds me of villages in Big Bear: People wearing $400 Gore-Tex eating genetically engineered beef jerky and hanging around in "the wilderness." Ok you can tell I haven't been to Big Bear much, but they don't call E-ville the "Aspen of the East" for nothing. Finnerty's is next to our hotel, so naturally we wandered over there a few times. Table stakes for any sports bar in Buffalo: Wings, wings, burgers, Bills, local craft beers, and wings. Finnerty's ranks high on each scale. Wings come in 1x, 2x, and 3x sized plates. Flavors are limited to Garlic Parm, Teriyaki, House Rub. We got House Rub. Pretty good! My guest had a veggie burger...don't repeat that mistake. NEVER will you hear a Niagara/Buffalo local say "Buffalo wings." Nothing labels you more as an outsider if you utter such blasphemy. Always comes with blue cheese dip. Ask for RANCH and you might as well call them Buffalo wings. The Fin also has Irish Beer Cheese Soup, which I would love to try next time. read more

My wife had their gf pizza and loved it. Although it was a thin crust the sauce and cheese were very good. We also ordered fries which were good but very salty. We finished off with the brownie sundae which was delicious but small. The staff was okay. Our waitress was nice but didn't check on us much. I'm not familiar with this spot by any means. It's tucked away on a side street in Ellicottville, and truly I've never noticed it. (It's actually huge, so I don't know how I missed it.) Being Irish, my husband really wanted to stop in because it's an Irish spot. I was ready to get back on the road to Buffalo, so reluctantly, I stopped in. Let me tell you... I loved it! Sure, it was an Irish bar filled with shamrocks and little Irish trinkets - but, they were blaring country music on a Saturday afternoon and everyone was having a great time. We just stopped in for a drink, so I didn't get to have any food. However, the bartenders were very nice and attentive. My friend and I stopped into the restaurant after Another place in Ellicottville had a two hour wait. Turns out that this was an excellent move because this place was great. We were seated right away. It did take a few minutes for a server to come take our order but things seemed pretty hectic there at the time. Outside of that little wait the beer menu was good and also the food came out pretty quickly and was good. We shared a few wings and they were crisp and the sauce was just they way that I like it. Our family was in town for a reunion and a large group of us came here for dinner on the first night. We called ahead for reservations the day before and they were able to accommodate 30. We were sat at a group of long tables put together so we didn't have to be separated. The menu here is extensive with lots of tasty sounding options. Hard to choose! I ended up going for a vanilla stout beer and Cajun broiled fish. The server did a great job taking all our orders in a timely manner and was happy to provide recommendations. I really liked the vanilla stout beer. Also ended up trying the beer cheese soup which was delicious. Finally my meal came out and it was pretty good. I wasn't crazy about the German potato salad, but didn't want to get fries which was the other choice, so I suppose it was alright. Delicious dinner after a crazy weather ride from Buffalo! Came into Finnerty's based on recommendations from friends in the WNY area. This place did not disappoint! We enjoyed evening specials (huge, but very tasty fish fry and salmon special) as well as the House burger (with added fried egg and house smoked bacon). Everything was hot, super fresh and absolutely yummy on this snowy evening. Loved the service from Jacqueline and the amazing sit-down with owner Billy. Where else can you find the freshest ingredients and friendly service like this in E'ville? I'm sure there's a couple joints, but no doubt we will be back to try more at Finnerty's Tap Room! My wife and I wanted to take a ride to see Griffis Sculpture Park all lit up, and we wanted a place to go. We did some research and heard Finnerty's had a good menu and a great atmosphere. So we showed up, and we were not let down. Everyone was really friendly, the atmosphere was great, and it was really clean. Our waiter Zac was super friendly, made great suggestions, and really took great care of us. My wife and I ordered the beer cheese soup, which was very rich but delicious. We also shared the Dave's Special and the Blackened Chicken Caesar Wrap. One came with curly fries and the other with onion rings. Dave's special was a Philly cheesesteak with some extra love! I would not recommend this place for good food or atmosphere. Acoustics are horrible. One of the people with me ordered the nachos and they were stone cold! Manager? came out and said that's the way they serve them and people love them! Apparently Americans like their nachos cold! Can't do a half star, but I would. Oh boy, where to start. There were a few tables and a bar spot open for two people, we chose the bar. Dirty plates still there from the previous two but we sat and waited until cleaned since they seated us.. the bartender then proceeds to ask us what we want to drink. We responded while also asking if she could wipe down the bar and cleanup the existing plates, she looked at us like we had two heads. We then ordered two apps for our meal and one took 40 mins and the other 55 minutes. Shocked it took as long as it did! The first app was nachos, came out cold and with chicken instead of pork. The second app was their reuben rolls which were apparently "the last and were found in the back", whatever that means... over cooked but good flavor. Chose this as somewhere we wanted to try last year but it was so busy and couldn't. Tried again this year and it wasn't nearly as busy. The bar was fine while we waited for a table which seemed to take longer than it should have. (30 minutes or so) in a half empty restaurant in peak season. The waitress never brought silverware or water nor took a drink order which caused us to have to walk across the restaurant back to the bar to get anything. We flagged down another waitress- the only one who seemed to be working and seemed annoyed by the rest of the staff. She brought us water right away. We had to scavenge the restaurant to find utensils and napkins. She then brought out one of 6 dishes and didn't return for 5 or so minutes with no indication of what was happening. My item was the smash burger which brought back flashbacks of a high school cafeteria quality burger (not close to a smash burger) missing the carmelized onion and one piece of wilted, rotting lettuce. No condiments were brought out. The owner lingers around and in no way cares about this place or the people spending money here. As others have mentioned - this town has several great options and I wouldn't put another dollar into this place even if it were the only place open. read more
