My best friend and I were moving her daughter into her dorm at UNA last week. We originally booked 4 nights here. The coach had suggested this hotel based on how close it was to campus. This hotel was a great option for us. The room is very spacious- even with all the stuff going to the dorm, and 3 people's luggage. We were very impressed with how clean to hotel was. There was a sticker on the door that the room had been sanitized. The room definitely appeared to be clean. The maid knocked on the door our 2nd day there to ask if we needed anything. We wanted our trash can dumped. She said no people- just set them in the hall and sh cellist dump them for us. She also said we could call if we needed more towels or anything else. There is a breakfast in the morning. Looks like it was oatmeal, waffles, fruit and yogurt: we never made it to breakfast. But we did appreciate the coffee and hot water that was available in the lobby 24/7. I had checked our booking email and saw the gym and pool would be open- and had covid cleaning guidelines in place. However, when we checked in- the first thing the clerk said was the pool and gym were closed. Because of this, we changed our booking from 4 nights down to 2. We went to Marriott for the pool and gym. If the Hampton has their pool and gym open next time- we will stay with them. The Marriott was not enforcing social distancing, nor was their hotel as clean as Hampton Inn. Plenty of parking, and a Taco Bell in the parking lot. This hotel is very quiet. This is not true at Marriott- we could hear people running up and down the halls.

This is the view from the room.

About 30 minutes after I made it into my room I received a call from the front desk to make sure everything was to my comfort.

The kids loved the pool You can also walk to the splash nearby. Now the reason I didn't give it 5stars #1 One of the workers weren't friendly or welcoming, my grandson mentioned it to me several times. #2 Our room floor wasn't vacuumed well before we arrived. #3. We couldn't enjoy sitting outside on balcony There were Spiders webs and SPIDERS everywhere #4 The buffet food wasn't hot! Other than that it was a good stay

So why 4 stars? It all comes down to the pillows... I wish hotels would get this. But if I'm not getting a good night's sleep in a hotel, I really can't give it 4 stars. Everything else in the room was great, especially the bar soap here! I'd buy it for home if I could. The decor was awesome. The theme of music resonates through the halls and rooms and even the cool guitar shaped sinks in the public rest rooms. I read a bit about the history of the area and things about Elvis, The Rolling Stones, and a few other bands... Juggalos may be disappointed as I didn't see any of their fans or Faygo Pop anywhere. I must have been on the VIP list as my room was upgraded and I had a bonus room where I could have had some parties or meetings or party meetings (I like combining them). Sadly, I wasn't prepared and just sat in there by myself for a while feeling good about myself. If you're here for a conference, please understand there will be quite the walk to the conference center. I was there in the heat so I opted to drive to the conference area so I wouldn't get all sweaty... I saved that for after! There are some cool views of the dam and the surrounding areas, so make sure you head to the tower and check it out. But if you've heard about southern hospitality, this resort hit all the marks for sure! Thanks to whoever is responsible for the mentality of the staff here. Excellent Excellent Excellent!

During the check-in process, the Big Bad Breakfast trash had to be taken out through the hotel lobby. When we got to our room, the AC unit was making a noise every 20 seconds or so. When we went downstairs to ask about getting it fixed, they immediately knew which room we were in (so clearly a known issue that no one has bothered to correct). The only solution they offered was a refund so we found a different hotel thankfully! I have no idea how this is a 4-star hotel - we will not be back.

The hotel was also extremely convenient for a wedding we attended just a few blocks away, and the room was very clean and comfortable. However, when it came time to go to sleep, our room was extremely loud, as the wall of our headboard backed up to the club, FloBama, directly next door. The music went on until after 2:00 AM, and the traffic noise (e.g., honking horns, motorcycle traffic, screaming and yelling) continued for hours later. I regret staying here and advise others against it as well. There should be a warning so guests can expect to be unable to sleep until after 3 AM. The money we paid for the room was extremely overpriced, and I sure wish we could receive a refund or discounted rate, as we were unable to sleep at all and left before 7 AM, so we could come home to TN and sleep in our own quiet bed.
