What a difference a remodel makes! This hotel has been updated and it definitely shows! We showed up without a reservation and Shelby at the front desk had us in a top floor room in two shakes! The room was very clean and well appointed with two chairs to sit in that were actually comfortable and had nice cushioning. This is in a great location right on the loop and near many restaurants and grocery stores. We would definitely return. We are in Palestine pretty often for work. read more

The room was decent and the breakfast was good. My biggest complaint is the front desk staff. When I checked out early on a Sunday morning I had the very unfortunate experience having to deal with one of the MOST UNFRIENDLY front desk person I have every experienced. She was not even capable of saying Hello or How was your stay and the worst thing... not even a simple "Thank you". This person should NEVER be allowed to deal with customers. She was horrible! Who ever trained her should not be working there. My interaction with her made me decide to not stay there again. She worked the very early shift on Sunday. Blondish hair. I checked out 3 hours after I checked in, and drove 3 hours home. Room design flaw: Each TV is mounted on a wall, and the bed for each room next door is right below that room's TV. So even if your neighbor has their TV on at a very normal volume, it's like a TV is booming over your head. Walls are paper thin, which makes it even worse. Other hotels put the TV on the dresser, with the bed facing into the room, which helps with noise travel. I was trying to watch a video on my iPad, and even at my highest volume, I couldn't hear it over my neighbor's TV. You can hear every single word your neighbor is saying, every time they move so much as a Kleenex. In fact, I think the only insulation this hotel has is Kleenex between the walls. read more

It's the little things. We were up graded to the King Suite. Absolutely great room. Went to turn on TV, no signal. Front desk had to come "giggle it" to get it working. (her words). When we tried to turn TV toward bed, it would go out again. Light bulb on writing desk was flickering. We just giggled it. Light switches were oddly wired. Bed was clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good. Staff are friendly. This was my second visit to this hotel. Yeah, we'd stay again. read more

First night, the girl in the morning, Lindsay I believe, was helpful and friendly. She understood what customer service is...and even made an exception for a diamond member. 2nd night, the woman in the morning was not the epitome of Cust Service. Probably the opposite. Ok if the rest of this hotel wasn't ace, I'd have given 3 stars just for the stupid shower in our disabled access room. It's just a wet room, with no drain at the lowest point, so ALL of the water from your shower flows towards the toilet and stagnates. We had to get towels from the pool and wipe up the water after each shower cause it was a freakin death trap with a lagoon of water over the tiled floor. Bad bad bad design ESP considering its a disabled room! Staff were friendly, room was spacious and clean, bed was huge, temperature was spot on, free breakfast was hot, delicious and plentiful, room was quiet overnight (not to be taken for granted, the walls were not paper thin!) Indoor heated pool was perfect for our little family of 3, $2 a bottle of water in the snack shop is scandalous but I was thirsty! Price was good. I don't see why there's so many negative reviews, if we were back in Palestine we wouldn't consider anywhere else, this place ticked all our boxes (I'd just have a regular room with no swimming pool as my bathroom!) read more

The Assistant General Manager Rebecca Lawhon was really kind and clearly cares about the people who stay at the Hampton. She provided great customer service, the Hampton Inn is lucky to have her. My stay was quiet and no disturbances. They serve free hot breakfast starting at 6am that got me ready for the morning. Room was clean and bedding comfortable. The only thing that was strange was there was this light behind the TV that I could not turn off which kept the room lit unless you turn off the master light which then keeps you from turning on the side lights. read more

It's a winner in my book. We had a king suite room. It was solid. Plenty of room for a family of four. Breakfast was ok. Not the best hotel hot breakfast, but not the worst. The waffle machine needs some work, though. I never was a good waffle come out. Indoor pool and workout room are nice. We utilized both in the short time we were there. If we ever return to Palestine, we will consider this place again. read more

I met my folks in Palestine for the Dogwood Festival since I'd been in Dallas on business. The facility is new and well kept and the decor is quite stylish. The beauty is only skin deep however, as the walls were incredibly thin and I could hear the family in the neighboring unit quite distinctly despite their speaking in normal tones. The other sounds I heard in the night were the thundering trains, and they woke me a couple of times. I also found the water pressure a bit anemic in the shower. I was able to use their wired internet for my laptop, but for some reason their Wi-Fi caused my iPad to go into convulsions as it repeatedly redisplayed the authorization page. But I didn't find these detractors too troublesome and until some stiff competition comes along, would reuse their services. read more

Very Poor Customer Service from the Assistant General Manager - Along with unnecessary stress and headaches prior to your check in. [Yelp - Zero Starts should be a option! :)] Amanda, the Assistant General Manager created necessary stress for me prior to my stay. The day of my check-in I received a call from the hotel, Amanda called to tell me that the per-authorization was declined and that I needed a valid card on file or my room would be cancelled. She explained that the hotel was sold out. I informed Amanda that I would be arriving late (as indicated on my original reservation - eta 8:00pm) and that I would present a card a check-in. Amanda explained that if I dont do so by 6pm the room would be released. I was traveling alone with my 3 year old daughter over 300 miles and felt that the Hampton was unreasonable with their policies for authorizations/check in-arrival times/and releasing of reserved rooms. Amanda threatened to cancel my room, was very rude and verbally combative to my questions about taking care of my payment at check-in, she ended the call by hanging up in my face. I have filed a corporate report. I am very dis-satisfied with the way I was handled. I had to abruptly change my travel plans out of fear that my toddler and I would not have a place to rest our heads after a day of travel for a function within the city. read more

This is a relatively new Hampton Inn and Suites in Palestine. Thus, the decor and rooms are up-to-date. One star. They have a nice fitness center, indoor pool, and complimentary breakfast. One star. Their staff can be persuaded to see it your way after threats of writing a nasty internal review card. One star. They lose two because I had to persuade via a passive-aggressive threat, and I just don't like doing that. When I checked in here, for a business trip, I presented the MANAGER on Duty with all my credentials, including my Diamond VIP Hilton Honors card. Now, I usually don't really care about getting the free water or snack that you should receive with this status, but I have learned over time that it a) makes your colleagues of lesser Hilton Honors status slightly envious, and b) is a nice litmus test of how on top of their game a particular Hilton franchise is. The Palestine MOD should be benched. Not only did he not offer me the said little perks, upon arriving to my room I discovered that I had a room with a shower only. I happened to be suffering from a leg cramp from tramping all over hither and yon backwoods East Texas, in the rain, visiting prisons, so yeah, I actually did want to use a bathtub. So, I called down to the front desk and politely asked if I could be moved to another room with a tub. I was put on hold for about 3 minutes, and when the young lady returned to the phone I was informed, and not as politely as I asked, that I could only move to another room if I paid for an upgrade. I informed her that this was their second fail in the last twenty minutes with a Diamond member and I would be filling out the comment card. Three minutes later she called me back and offered me a free upgrade to a jacuzzi suite, and that is how it is done folks. read more

My friends had their wedding in Palestine, and they offered discounted group rates at Hampton Inn. The prices were pretty good ($99 for the cheapest room), but being due to not really knowing my work schedule ahead of time, I was unable to book that far in advance. When I was ready to book (which was a little over a month before the wedding), the group rate wasn't working anymore. I called Hampton Inn to inquire about it and ended up leaving a voicemail for the manager. Two days later, I still hadn't gotten a call from them, so I called the hotel again. The lady on the phone explained to me that there is a certain time period that the hotel rooms have to be booked by. I told her I wasn't aware of this since it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the wedding invitations and website but was hoping I could still get the discounted rate since I missed the deadline literally by a day or two. The lady was very insistent that there wasn't a way I could get the discounted rate. I asked to speak with the manager about it and she told me that there was no use to doing that since she probably wouldn't honor it either. I was pretty frustrated at this point and it got worse when the lady told me to "blame the wedding couple" for not letting the guests know. Excuse me, you want me to get mad at my friends? Well screw you. If you don't want business from me, then I ain't going to give any to you. That's your loss. To make matters worse, I found out that a couple of my friends were able to book with the discounted rate the week OF the wedding. Seriously, excuse me? Unacceptable customer service. read more

The manager of the Hampton Inn in Palestine continues to be dishonest about the rate I was quoted for the room. I am really disappointed in Hampton Inn and Hilton brands. I thought they were better than that. I have family there and when I return, I will stay somewhere else. I also travel frequently for business and those brands will never get another dollar from me. read more

There's some pretty negative reviews on here about this hotel. I had a flawless experience, spending 4 nights here during the week. Front desk staff was nice, room was nice and clean every day when I returned from work. It's a newer hotel, which is always nice. Good exercise room, working equipment. Standard Hampton breakfast was on par with all the others I have eaten at. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to family and friends, and I would return and stay here again. read more

I'm actually a colleague of Calysta J's, and have stayed at this hotel at different times for similar reasons. The hotel is fairly new and shows it. The staff is nice and helpful, and the amenities are well-executed. I also experienced a shower problem on one visit. The shower in my room was a handicapper which hadn't had the floor installed correctly, so water ran out all over the bathroom. I called up the front desk and they promptly opened up another room for me. Later I filled out a survey and mentioned the issue. A horrified manager called me the next day and offered me a voucher for a free night at any Hilton, which I thought was over and above considering the rather benign offense. Maybe it's just my lovable nature, but I had a much better experience, and would highly recommend this property. read more

My fiance and I stayed here for a nearby wedding and the interior of this hotel is gorgeous. There is not much happening in Palestine so it was a delightful surprise to be greeted with what looks to be a brand new hotel. Our room was lovely, spacious, and ridiculously cheap. We enjoyed HBO & free WiFi while we got ready. The breakfast the next day was delish! If I ever find myself in Palestine I will be back here! read more

Service is fine; I haven't had any reason to complain about any of the service I've received, though I wish the night clerk hadn't been talking to his friend while I was checking in at 1:00 in the morning... Breakfast is plentiful, if a bit limited in the choices. The food is adequate, and you can't beat "complimentary" for a price for breakfast. What really annoyed me about this hotel, though, and prompted me to fill out the comment card, is the fact that they throttle bandwidth. I was only trying to watch a movie on Netflix, and they throttled me back three times. The first time, it took almost ten minutes for the movie to start playing again. The second time, it took almost twenty minutes. The third time, I just shut down my browser. That's not good ju-ju, Hampton Inn folks. That could very readily cause me to stay at a different hotel when next I'm in the area. ...and yeah, that would be next week, the week after that, the week after that, and the week after that. Want my money? Don't throttle my internet! I'm paying you enough to upgrade your overall service so everyone can enjoy full broadband; why don't you do it? read more

Every two months you can catch me ousside this establishment, cutting up, yelling at joggers, making fun of old folks, smoking cigarettes, spitting dip in flower beds and if you're unlucky enough to park in the last diamond member parking spot and there isn't another one for me, you gone catch deez hands too. But enough about me let's talk about this Hampton Inn. This hotel is very clean and I'd go ahead and say nice. I have no qualms when it comes to staying at this hotel in Palestine. The only thing I really despise is having to drink out of the faucet that is connected to the city's unground sewage system. But I'm a glass half full kind of guy, by drinking the sewage, I'm only establishing a strong and courageous Immune System. They usually have plenty of items out for breakfast, and they even have humorous chalk drawings on the food items as well! The work out room really spacious as well. If you're lucky enough to come to Palestine, I suggest staying here! read more

Decor is nice, staff is friendly....but my GOD this place is loud. Apparently there was an elephant convention when we stayed there. But seriously, if you're looking for a quiet room with a nice bed to rest, this is not the place. You can hear everything that people do above you....flush the toilet, shower, close doors, even walking. You will not "sleep in" here....if you even went to sleep at all, considering the beds are rock hard. Stay on the 4th floor if you can, so you don't hear the elephants. read more
