Since I belong to the IHG Rewards Club, I sometimes get special treatment and perks. At first I have trouble finding the hotel but with a little direction from nice local people I find it. As I drive up to it, I'm a little confused. No signage and it looks like a building under construction. Well not under construing under renovation. This hotel is located on the water and took a hit from Hurricane Harvey. After going through a tunnel and up an elevator I come to the front desk. The clerk was very pleasant and accommodating. I had been driving for hours and needed a restroom before going to my room. The lobby Men's room was unusable. Don't ask but all you had to do was look in-the toilet you'd understand. Well I used the ladies room. Hey when nature calls. Okay, so my room was on the top floor and on par for Holiday Inn standards. The elevator was a little tricky, kept opening and closing, but finally delivered me to my floor. Everything in the room was fine. In the morning I went down to breakfast and got the low down on this hotel. According to a nice lady working there, Hurricane Harvey really hit them hard, in fact all the windows blew out and they were under 5 feet of water. Ok, so I understand the appearance and give a pass. If I'm back in Port Lavaca, I'll be staying here.

Boy am I glad I did. It is a peaceful little home in a quiet part of town convenient to everything. It was very clean, cozy, and well stocked (even Starbucks coffee, internet, and wine, I don't think the Hampton offers that!). One bathroom has a great big tiled shower and huge jacuzzi tub. Nice back yard if you have time to relax in the eve. I really love this place, and hope I get called back on business so I can stay here again!

Much cheaper than a hotel and the bonuses are endless. The owners are sweethearts and leave lots of goodies for your stay. The hot tub, larger than life jet bath tub, antiques, and huge glass shower create a romantic and relaxing environment. The house is tastefully furnished in period furniture, and quirky knick knacks. While the suite was very comfortable, the view from the front porch was spectacular. You are literally across the street from the bay, and fishing from the public pier, with a fish cleaning station. The best part of the stay was the host - Paula. She does everything to make the stay comfortable, and memorable. She even enquired about our food preferences before we visited. My wife has extensive allergies, and yet she was able to prepare breakfasts that my wife tolerated, and enjoyed and were varied every day! She is an excellent cook, and makes everything to order for every guest every day. Try her delicious ham and cheese omelets. The breakfast was delicious. The conversations with other guests added to our enjoyment. The bed was so comfortable that we both slept well. My only complaint was that the room had a window A/C unit which was loud and woke me up multiple times throughout the night. It could also have used a TV but aside from that it was a great place to stay and the view out the front door which is directly across from the water was beautiful. I went to the office to ask for a broom and mop and the lady was more than happy to help me clean it up. She was friendly about my clumsiness and didn't give me any attitude, just a smiles and understood my pregnancy mishap. My keycard stopped working for some reason and I was able to get a new one fast by calling the number on the office door, even though it was dark and after hours, he got a new one down to me right away. My only complaint is the beds, they weren't very comfortable, but I'm pregnant and used to sleeping on memory foam. My back and hips are now hurting from two night ms of sleeping on it. If we ever stayed there again, I'd bring a roll up mattress cover for more cushion. Other than that, good and affordable spot to sleep.

What was most impressive was that the room was practically new from the carpet, the nice bathrooms, and new comforters. While staying here, I felt like I was a guest in the owner's home. The rooms were bright and beautiful especially if you like bright colors, the decor was something I'd never seen before, and can't wait to see again. Each room has a little kitchenette, they stock the fridge with complementary beverages and the kitchen has complementary snacks. They had everything I needed to make my fishing trip more successful, a big old ice machine, a vacuum sealer if I needed it, And even a little guide book with great places to fish. It turned out our paycheck wouldn't be deposited until the middle of our stay and he let us come anyway with the trust we would pay when we got it! Sure, you could spend a little extra and get a nice fancy place somewhere else, but here you have serenity and the opportunity to take a walk back in time, unlike any place I have ever been! Our original room, RM101, was very old country style. The kitchen didn't have a stove so Jack loaned me a toaster oven! I was able to cook a fine meal for my boyfriend (chicken parmesan!) using that and a pan from home, I cooked noodles on the hot plate :). I walked around taking pictures when I came across Diedra cleaning rooms, she let me take a look at one that wasn't occupied and it was SO nice!! For an additional $20 a night Jack let us upgrade to that one. It has a full fridge, stove, oven, living room, bigger bed. GET THIS ROOM IF YOU HAVE KIDS. for 3 nights we're spending very little over $300. The ONLY thing I wish was different would be the breakfast. It consists of cereal, toast, coffee, milk and juice. This place would be set even if they just offered some premade biscuits and canned gravy! You can buy biscuits in bulk and big cans of gravy could be heated up in the microwave, so easily done. Just a suggestion :). Even bagels and cream cheese... I don't know. I want FOOD, LOL. This isn't a big enough deal breaker for me to take a star away for though. Love love love this place. I can't seem to express that enough. Highly recommend.

While it is not a "Hilton", it looked freshly painted, there was carpet and ceramic tile. The shower wall was 'marble', the water was HOT, the beds were great (I have back problems so I'm picky), there was a mini fridge, a microwave and flat screen tv. The Patel's own it and were friendly and accommodating. There's an ice machine in the office. Pets are welcome. We loved it and are looking forward to coming back again soon.
