The outage reportedly had already been ongoing for several days, but we were not notified before arrival or at check-in. Because the trip involved confidential professional work, using a shared business center was not a practical alternative. The front desk also directed us to contact the hotel's internet provider ourselves to troubleshoot the problem, which felt like a responsibility that should have remained with the property. When we later contacted management, we received a different explanation and did not receive the promised follow-up from the general manager or any meaningful accommodation, such as a refund of the internet charge. This appears to have been a one-off experience rather than representative of our previous stays, which were comfortable and enjoyable. Still, better communication, clearer accountability, and a reasonable adjustment would have gone a long way toward resolving the issue.

It is not luxury, but it is very clean and well managed. The parking is well lit. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is a large motel with doors facing the parking. There is a nice pool area. There are also ice and vending machines. The lobby has coffee all the time. I did not make it to the breakfast, so I can not comment much on that other than to say there was a Texas shaped waffle maker. My room was a suite with kitchenette including a 3/4 sized refrigerator, two electric burner stove, microwave, toaster, and kitchen sink. Nice for extended stays. The bathroom sink extended to the right from the kitchenette area and was well lit. No hair dryer that I could see, but plugs available. There was also an iron and full sized ironing board, closet and dresser. The toilet / shower or bath room was separated by a door and it had a loud but great functioning vent. Towels were modest but functional as well. Basic toiletries were provided. I thought the room was nice and comfortable. I did not need a golf course or spa, just a place to sleep. The price was very good. I'd definitely stay there again.

There are several Tesla charging spots in the parking lot and the hotel offers a free continental breakfast. On our most recent visit, there was a slightly negative experience. Our hotel room had blood stains on the bed sheets and the curtain track appeared to be old and damaged. We informed the front desk of these issues. They were very apologetic and immediately resolved the issue by giving us a new room. The new room felt like an upgrade and was quite large and very clean. We appreciated the staff fixing this issue so quickly. We would stay here again.

The A/C worked fine (air coming out smelled of mold) and I heard that the motel was completely renovated a few years ago however there is a mold smell on all of the floors. I'm assuming it's coming from the A/C-heating lines (?) as I didn't see any mold in any of the rooms we've been in. Or maybe it's in the carpet?? I say rooms (plural) because I reported the mold smell the first day we were there in our 3rd floor room to the front desk and they put us in another room on the 2nd floor however the smell was still there, not as bad. We had stayed here for a week in June (less of a mold smell then) and staff said management is working on addressing the mold smell. The air didn't make me sick during the stay. But we returned in August for another week, and mold smell was still present. This time I had itchy eyes, a tickle in my throat and cough. The mold smell was not overwhelming but still there. I didn't change motels because of past experiences with never getting a refund once you make a reservation and pay. It's a lot of $ and couldn't afford to pay twice. If my symptoms were worse we would have left and other motels were already full. Everything else was great, breakfast was good, the rooms were otherwise clean. Close to the highway and plenty of parking. And all of the staff were wonderful but I won't stay here again unless I pop in for a few minutes next time and check the rooms before making a reservation in the future. FYI Motels will let you enter their rooms to check them out and I did visit 3 other motels in Victoria to see if nearby motels had the same problem (as Victoria is a very humid environment) but didn't smell mold at other motels. So, sorry LaQuinta staff, you're great!, and I'll stay here again if management can fix the mold problem. Hopefully management will see this and make repairs. The toilet was encased by a wall!!! My mom's wheelchair and this wall wouldn't allow her to reach. The toilets are extremely low, so if you use a transfer, it is very hard. We mostly used the restroom down stairs in the lobby because it was big. Mom could barely get into the high bed. I was exhausted after the trip.

While the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms have issues with paint peeling and the AC unit is loud. The exercise room, while functional, is cramped and did not have some clean towels that usually come with a workout room. The staff is friendly and efficient with the check-out process. A lot of the issues are for maintenance and conditions as this hotel does need some major renovations. While I would prefer another hotel option in Victoria, I'm a sucker for improving my Marriott status and accumulating those hotel points so I guess I'll be here again when my assignment brings me to this area.
