I chose this hotel because we wanted to use the pool and whirlpool after going to a dance weekend. The room we slept in was good, very clean and quiet. The room with the pool and whirlpool had a single shower to use before going in. The water did not get hot. The whirlpool was warm but when we turned on the jets, scummy soap bubbles were prolific and did not produce a positive experience. I am currently silver member whom enjoys staying at Hilton hotels across the states. This particular hotel did not give me my silver benefits when arrived at the front desk after my digital keycard refused to work in this hotel. This is actually the only hotel I've ever been to that my digital card did not work. As far as the cleanliness of the room, I always go in to do an inspection to clean again myself. Some items were clean, while others were clearly not. Specifically handles, switches and knobs. The breakfast was not horrible, typical actually. We normally only ever stay at Marriotts but the nearest one is 30 mins away and we are in town to check out Indiana Wesleyan. The rooms are very clean and modern. We didnt get a chance to use the pool area but the free breakfast is extremely impressive. They have fresh pressed juices and smoothies. Waffles that are vanilla or banana in flavor, hard boiled eggs in the shell still. Not to mention the hot options for those that like a hot breakfast and not health food options. read more

First of all, welcome to the 1980's. Second, this is the place to go if you want to be called a liar by the front desk and if you don't want your room cleaned. Stayed for a week because of a corporate requirement (which WILL be changing). Bathroom did not consistently get cleaned as evidenced by the pictures which makes me nervous about everything else. The towels under the sink were used to clean up a spill much earlier in the week and are still just there. Front desk clerk accused me staging the photos. I'm not sure why someone would do that. A family member of mine has stage 4 cancer and I have to be extremely careful about germs and getting sick.... I carry Lysol and disinfect everywhere for that reason. Cleanliness is the utmost urgency for me.... staging something like that??? The photos even had date and time stamps on them from throughout the week. read more

My stay at the Hampton Inn was sponsored by a donor during the opening night of a recent fundraising event along the Cardinal Greenway that starts in Marion. I arrived the night before the event and planned to relax and renew while enjoying a night away from home. I'm not a frequent Hampton customer as I've honestly never found them to be quite worth what they usually charge. Of course, there are exceptions. I've had some VERY good Hampton stays in the past. My fundraising event toured through Marion last year. I'm unsure why I didn't actually stay in the city, but this time around I made plans to enjoy the area. I arrived during the late afternoon and had no issues with check-in. They knew my room was sponsored by someone else and check-in was a breeze. The doors are automated and the lobby was a warm, wooded decor that felt pretty welcoming. The overall atmosphere felt less spacious than some Hamptons, but it worked pretty well. An accessible room was reserved and a room with a roll-in shower was received. My room did have an accessible shower with a bench attached to the wall, though I would note that the shower size was a touch odd and I actually had trouble reaching the detachable shower head from the bench. Admittedly, I am short. Hey, I don't have feet. What do you expect? I eventually was able to coax the showerhead down, but that's a potential fall hazard that didn't make sense. The bathroom itself was a tad smaller than expected given turn-around space needed for a wheelchair. It worked, but if someone is spastic it could get interesting. I really felt like this Hampton Inn was on the lower end of the Hampton experience. Compared to the Muncie Hampton, the lobby area was decorated well but had a more industrial feel and not in the industrial design way. It didn't feel uncomfortable, but it was definitely more compact. I was really tempted to give a 2-star rating due to a couple of semi-major issues - 1) There was a dead bug on the floor in my room and 2) One of the two bedside lights flickered constantly. The bug was accompanied by a couple of gnats. While I obviously disposed of the bug, it seemed like something that should have been caught before I arrived. If I'm in a room donated by the hotel, I acknowledge that I may get a not quite market-ready room, but if someone has paid for the room the it's not acceptable. I also simply turned off the light for the rest of the night, but the constant flickering for a while was bothersome and, once again, shows a lack of attention to detail. The internet was spotty, though I actually found the internet to be better here than in Muncie. As is a corporate policy, there's free wifi along with a premium option for $4.95. Despite the modest issues, I'm keeping Hampton Inn at 3-stars primarily on the strength of a warm/welcoming staff, a solid continental breakfast, a quality television, and an overall atmosphere that felt comfortable. There is part of me that feels like some of the problems were the exception and not the rule - While I did find a bug, I can also say the good majority of the hotel and the rest of the room was quite clean and functional. I felt the same about the flickering light - everything else worked and the bed was incredibly comfortable. While this Hampton is more reasonably priced than the Muncie location, one would hope they work out the bugs, pun intended, and bring the quality of the facility up to the price point. read more

This is a giant ditto to Allison below. Like Allison, I totally own that I made a nonrefundable reservation. However due to a family emergency I need to change that reservation. I ended up talking to Hilton honors before talking to the hotel directly and an agent from Hilton honors contacted the general manager Rita and asked her not to refund my money but simply to let me use that reservation for a different date. Rita refused. The poor agent from Hilton honors came back on the phone to me in tears saying she has never been treated so poorly by a local hotel general manager. Currently I have two more trips from California to Marion Indiana planned the next six months. Though I am a Hilton honors member, clearly I'll be looking for somewhere else to stay. read more

Ugh...not the experience I've come to know with Hampton Inns or the Hilton brand. I was traveling for work and wanted to collect my Hilton points otherwise I wouldn't have stayed here. They didn't disclose unless you were on their actual site (not the Hilton app to make reservations) that the hotel was under construction. Which was really a poor job of a facelift. My room I was told was brand new but everything smelled, the furniture was old, the paint job was bad, and light switches were broken. I would absolutely never stay in this location again. I am extremely upset with the Hampton Inn in Marion, Indiana. I had a reservation and then had a death in the family yesterday. A 17 year old girl was killed in a car accident and her services are now planned for tomorrow. I didn't even have 48 hours notice to give. Now, according to the female at the hotel, I will be charged the full amount of the stay, despite the emergency circumstances. I feel this is terrible customer services and would like someone at the Corporate level to be aware. Also, it is very confusing when I made two reservations on the same date. One for tonight and one for tomorrow night, for 2 hotels in 2 different cities. This one is requiring a 48 hour notice, the other says I had until 6pm on the day of arrival to cancel. There is no consistency in the policy. The female at the hotel was very short with me, told me that there is not a way to not charge me for the room and didn't even attempt to talk to management to see if they could help. I would have been happy to even provide proof of the accident and death. I just cannot understand this type of service. I am extremely disappointed in Hilton/Hampton. Now I am told there is a "file" created for me and that someone will get back to me in 3 days. Nobody will help me directly today. And there is no indication on whether or not this will be resolved or I will be charged. I just have to wait. read more

Still undergoing renovations that are not being managed properly. I was told I was put in a renovated room The room was filled with sheet rock and wood dust. The bathroom door would not properly close - the sink wouldn't drain - had cement and debris in it. The phone did not work to call downstairs. The furnishings are the same as have always been in the room - I have always stayed at this property. I will never again. Worth it to pay more and stay at the clean Holiday Inn down the street. The front desk was not helpful at all. Couldn't move me. Couldn't tell me when a manager would be in. Only suggestion was to call Hilton and complain which I have. Hilton needs to send a representative to investigate this property. It is certainly not up to the standards that I am used to staying at Hampton Inns. read more

Well, I was going to give them 4 stars just for the night staff, the guy who made my reservation booked the wrong room so when we got in late, the place was already packed no other rooms available so the lady's brought up a rollaway for us (a total of 5) since the agent put in the wrong room, besides the appearance some old outta date look from the early 80's the 2 girls did the best they could, but the morning it turned worse. The hotels water heaters couldn't keep up with everyone taking showers in the hotel, there was a graduation ceremony in town that seems everyone in the hotel was going too, the poor breakfast was tasteless unless you piled on salt, butter, pepper, and whatever else you could find, with the showers being freezing cold all the front desk would offer is a apology, which is less pleasing when you have people needing to shower, so being a "independent Hampton inn I was told, it's time to ask the parent company for a helping hand, in sure if it's a regular stay some other time would be find but if the lots packed I just drive on by to the next place..... so kuddos to the night staff for there good service but damn if the mess in morning didn't take away from your glory.... read more

I stay in a lot of Hampton Hotels and this was one of my all time favorites. While they were doing renovations that make it not so pretty, they were very helpful, kind, and courteous. I was very impressed with how well the staff handled the mess from renovations. Like it wasn't even an issue! The rate was fair, and I even got an upgrade in my room! Every single employee I came in contact with from the front desk to housekeepers in the hallway had a smile on their face and was super kind. Monday night 11:30pm, Feb 4, I checked into this Hampton Inn in Marion, IN. I went up to my room, #304, showered and went to bed. I was tossing and turning a lot, about 4:30am and finally got up and went to the bathroom to find out why my back was itching so bad. I had a few bites on my back. I looked in the bed and found a small bug. I did not know if it was what was bitting me so I picked it up and set it in the bathroom as it was dead and thought I would just look at it when I woke up. I went back to sleep and woke up again a few hours later and I had bites all over my body. I just in the shower as they were itching like crazy! When checking out, I asked the lady at the front desk, if they had had any complaints on bed bugs. She said not that she was aware of, but she had only been working there 5 months. I went to my appointments that day and those bites were absolutely on fire. I could feel those bite oozing stuff out all day long. I cancelled my appointments for the rest of the week and went home. I called the Hampton later that day and they said they called Orkin Exterminators and they did Bed Bugs in the room and exterminating all the rooms around 304. When talking to the front desk person they said they were going to comp my room for me. I asked "what do I do with my luggage and clothes, I had in the room with me and they may be infested?" They offered me some points or a free night, for my luggage that I threw out and I said "No THANK YOU!" I will just let everyone know about this, with a few bad words. I guess the "We'll Make it Right" slogan does not apply to taking care of customers being eaten up by bed bugs at your hotel and having to throw out luggage and clothes because they may have bed bugs. I know and realize things like bed bugs may happen in hotels not well maintained, but it's how you handle your mistakes that define you! By the way I am a Diamond status with Hilton and have stayed hundreds of nights with Hilton over the last 7 years. Some aspects of this hotel are common to the Hampton brand, and it is in the midst of an apparently long renovation. Decent beds, breakfast, etc., as you would expect in a Hampton. There are certainly signs of the renovation going on, so you have to bear with some odd inconveniences (the ice machine on our floor didn't work, a framed picture evidently from the wall was on top of the soda machine, the door to the linen closet apparently had a doorknob ripped off). However, in three nights at the hotel, we were awakened TWICE by an extremely loud fire alarm that went off for about 30 seconds. Kudos for having a good fire alarm system, which is apparently part of the renovation. However, two out of three nights seems more than a coincidence. According to the buzz at breakfast the next morning, the first was someone doing "something illegal" at 4:30 a.m. that set off the alarm and woke everyone in the hotel up and got the fire and police departments to respond. The staff are apparently quite proud that the new system can pinpoint the room where the detector was set off. The second time was just after midnight, and again according to the buzz at breakfast was a guest that did not know it was a nonsmoking hotel. Ok, I'm willing to grant that that guest was a moron, since most hotels these days are nonsmoking, but I began to ask myself about that policy. It's on their website, but there are no signs of any type in the rooms that say it is non-smoking. Perhaps some due diligence on the part of the hotel to take away another excuse by a guest who wants to light up would be in order? More troubling was the sign on our hallway that apparently said "This is a non-smoking floor." The choice of "floor" instead of "hotel" on the sign implies that there are floors where smoking is allowed. When I complained to the front desk staff, speaking over the sign that reads, "If you're not 100% satisfied, we don't expect you to pay. That's our promise and your guarantee," they looked at me like deer in the headlights. I don't expect a hotel to control all guests' rude behavior, but being awakened during two out of three nights in a single stay was a bit much. Give me some more Hilton Honors points, or knock 10 percent off my bill, or at least demonstrate that you care that my stay was not "100% satisfactory" so I might come back. My son is in college nearby, so I will be returning to the area, but I'm not sure I can justify returning to this location. I have stayed at scores of Hamptons in my life, and almost all send an e-mail or survey within a day or two, sometimes the same day, asking about my stay. Apparently, this hotel does not care. I made a reservation to stay at the Hampton Inn in Marion, Indiana in February 2017.The Friday we were to go, My son who had just recently had a kidney transplant, got very ill. We had to cancel. I called the hotel in the early afternoon, thinking it would be fine to cancel. She informed me that their policy is you have to cancel the day before, which I had never heard of. She said she was going to charge me for that night. I was not happy, but figured I had to abide by their policy. When I got my bank card bill, she had charged me for two nights. When I called, and finally talked to the manager, Rita, she said it was a special week-end rate, which it was not at all. I booked straight from their web site, and they did not have a week-end special. She said she was going to refund me nothing regardless of the reasons. I called customer service in Dallas. I talked to Chris, Reynoldo, and Susan. Susan said she would look into it and e mail me back, but she never did. I called the Marion Hampton again, and could not believe the rude treatment they gave me. When I would ask to speak to the manager, they refused. One time I called and I know it was Rita because I recognized her voice. She said it was not, and she had no plans on refunding anything. If I would call and ask for the manager's hours, they told me it was one of my business. They were VERY VERY rude. I called and talked to Rita, because it was still unbelievable to me that she would charge me for two nights. She said she called the police and filed a complaint about me. I said "GOOD!" Now they will have to investigate. I asked for the officer's name, and she hung up. At the local Marion Hampton, I have talked to Melody, Nancy, Courtney and of course Rita. One interesting aspect about this--I am a member of the reward club for the chain, ad I got no points for those 2 nights. I think Rita charged my bankcard, pocket the money for herself, and that is why she was so rude. The one night--okay--stupid policy, but their policy. But 2 nights??? She pocketed the money, and if she would have given me the points the chain would have found out and been able to track me. Or does that mean you actually have to stay their to get the points--not just pay? When I called back tonight to see if the manager was still the same RITA, the first person refused to tell me who the manager was. She kept saying it was none of my business. Then she put someone else on. I know it was Rita because I recognized her voice. She said it was none of my business who the manager was, and did I want to know. She said something else, and I told her I did not understand because of her accent. She yelled she had no accent and had clear English. Hung up. I had originally decided just to drop this, but then I decided why should she get by with stealing my money? They are supposed to have a policy if you don't like the room, you get a full refund. I guess they also have a policy that if you cancel, they are going to be rude, aggressive, confrontational and lie, and not give you anything but rude behavior--and no reward points even though you paid. She charged me $277.76 for two nights that I was not there, but informed them. Tat is probably the way the "fill" the hotel, since I see no positive reviews. Is Hampton Inn proud of this? I must assume Rita works for a low salary and that is the reason she stays because it certainly is not her repoire with the customer. Does corporate know about this? I thought it was interesting the one review that said she responded to his complains. Talk about rude. Is that part of the customer service training that Hampton gives? This Hampton Hotel in Marion, IN was about the worst hotel I have stayed at. I travel frequently on business. It was filthy, had bugs,(killed two on wall as I was working at my desk) crumbs on desk chair as well as a Tide stain remover stick on desk chair, shampoo left in shower from prior guest. I asked for a bottle of water at check in. Desk women said they were out someone going out to get some more. Hour & 1/2 later got a bottle of water. TV didn't work. Maintenance had to come up and attempt to reset TV twice. Finally worked. However it was spotty/froze up during my stay. Carpet in room dirty. Extremely difficult to calibrate warm to very hot water in shower. My company pays for my travel expenses, however I invoked Hampton's 100% Guarantee Policy due to the room conditions. Checked out and left. Was asked to fill out a survey sent to me online about my stay and I answered truthfully. Basically, I was called a liar by the Hotels General Manager. She also accused me of saying things that were absolutely untrue as to screaming and being rude. Very unprofessional and I will be taking this case to Hilton Corporate as this is a franchise hotel being run by less than professional people. Very very poor. If I could give it less than star I would!!! This goes for the general manager Rita Naidu-- this was her response to my survey: "I'm disappointed to read the review that you had submitted, which is untrue. You were also told that we didn't have a standard room at GM rate. You never had any issues with your room other then switching HDMI / Direct TV as you didn't know how to. Upon check out you complained that your room had bugs, and had crumbs and everything was dirty etc. This is not true at all. When a staff went up to your room to hand him water & when you came to ask for room swap or upgraded, you were asked how your room was. You told FOM room was nice except he would prefer an upgrade. We didn't have one as you were aware. Your profile has had 8 recovery in the past & this is a concern. If room was so disgusting, you would have informed our staff at that time & got relocated. I've stayed in plenty of hotel rooms in my life. The room was not terrible except for the fungus that was growing in the bathroom. That's not the real issue... the real issue is with the customer service from this low end, Hampton franchise; because of the issue with the room they had told me that they where not going to charge me for the night stay and to allow 2-3 business days for the charge to be returned to my account. this was not the case, they still charged my card and I called to talk to the coward manager who acted like and employee telling me that the manager would not refund the charge because they did not see anything wrong with the room. I would have gladly just switched to another room but due to the fact that my friend and I did not check in till about 1 AM we went right to bed and I woke up and saw the fungus in the bathroom. So please see the pictures attached and tell me if anyone else sees anything wrong with the room.
