To be honest, this Hampton Inn was a disappointment. It relies too much on its beautiful waterfront location, however, the rooms show wear and tear. There were only two bath towels in the room. In every other Hampton I've ever stayed in there have been four. Why is this important? If you are sharing a room with a woman who wants to wash her hair invariably she will dry her body with one towel and dry her hair with another. To put the nail in the coffin arriving at breakfast at 9 AM almost everything had run out and the kitchen had not timed things well with people waiting 10 to 15 minutes for replenishment. A very nice hotel. We were told at the front desk that this is one of the company owned HI's and the second one in the country with a restaurant. The location is beautiful with Keuka Lake on one side for a great view. If the view is important to you during your stay, be sure to ask for a room on that side of the hotel. The rooms are pretty much standard for a hotel like this. Nothing special but nice, enough room and a nice bathroom with a roomy shower. Too bad many hotels are not providing a bar of soap anymore. It's now bottles on the wall. I still prefer a real bar. The bar/restaurant is small but very nice. We didn't try the food but we saw a number of dishes being served and they looked good. read more

You can walk to a town beach. There's no sand but there's water. I'm wondering if they don't mention the beach for legal reasons? Like tourists who ignore "closed" signs (cough, cough). Or dangerous algal blooms? But even if you don't go in the lake, it's a spectacular sight. And when weather allows they have a fire pit in the back. read more

Absolutely loved this hotel. I stayed here while attending a wedding- the room I choose was one of the exclusive rooms with a door that led directly out onto the balcony/patio from my room. It overlooked Keuka Lake and was just absolutely beautiful- the room was spacious, clean and very comfy. Funny story - just not at the time, I accidentally locked myself out of my room and couldn't get back in - can you see me smacking my forehead right now? Well, let me tell you that the gentleman that was standing at the front desk could see I was in a mad panic because I wasn't fully dressed ( no shoes , hair still up ) ran immediately to help me. Within minutes he had rescued me- omg! Talk about embarrassing myself- This gentleman was professional and polite and had a positive attitude towards me- and I was super grateful and soon I was on my way to the wedding rehearsal party and when I returned back to my room later that evening, to my surprise I was treated like a queen with a bottle of the local wine country wine and a charcuterie board- Thank you young man for making my weekend that much less stressful- XXOO read more

Large parking lot. This a lovely hotel. The room was large and the complimentary breakfast was very nice. The only strange thing was that there was no paper in the room listing the available TV channels, so one has to scroll through the TV guide. Peculiarly, there was no NBC channel. Luckily there was no really late night partying as the walls are not as soundproof as one hopes for in a hotel. This Hampton was opened in 2016, so one would expect good soundproofing. If your room is one side of the hotel, you have a lovely view of Keuka Lake. Our room was not on that side of the corridor, but we were only there one night and out early in the morning. There were some guests checking in just before us who were there for the weekend. For them the lake view was important. The room rates fluctuate a lot based on special events nearby. We were there for a special event so paid a higher than usual rate for a Hampton Inn in a very small town. read more

This hotel almost got a good review from me if it wasn't for some terrible customer service. When I checked in, they asked for a credit card to pay for the reservation, I told them I already paid through Expedia but they insisted I did not. When I got home, I confirmed I did pay through Expedia and they had in fact charged me a second time. I called and explained the situation. Randy, the supervisor was extremely rude about it. He said until Expedia called him directly he wouldn't fix the issue, even though he admitted he has new staff and knew they made a mistake. So instead of just fixing it, and leaving me with a good experience, I had to then call Expedia and have them call him. At one point on the phone with him he literally cut me off and said "can I talk?" In an extremely rude tone. At which point he told me it was the employees first day, but he would still do nothing to fix it until Expedia called him. I even offered to email him my Expedia receipt that proved I paid. He refused. Also at no point did he apologize for the issue, not once. When I called Expedia the rep there was super nice, but very confused because she said the hotel already had everything they needed to fix the issue. She called and spoke to him and now I'm waiting for a refund. What a mess. read more

This is a very nice hotel with a beautiful location. Being on the North shore of Keuka Lake this hotel has some excellent amenities. The pool area is beautiful with a very clean pool and an excellent hot tub. The only negative was the temperature of the pool. It was quite cold for a "heated" indoor pool. I'm comparing this hotels pool to two of our favorite waterfront hotels pools. When we stay at the Hart Harbor hotels in Watkins Glen and Clayton we enjoy using their pool and hot tubs. The pools at those hotels are heated to a comfortable/usable temperature. The big plus to the Hampton Inn Penn Yan's pool area is their wall of windows overlooking the lake. The rooms here are good size and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The free breakfast is great. The room rates are very reasonable. We will return. read more

Have stayed at this hotel several times in the past as my daughter attends a nearby college and it is very close. This is the only hotel property on the lake with a beautiful view. I did not feel as a valued Hilton Honors member at the time of check in. I normally book directly through HH but the rate at the time I booked was lower on a third party site. The day before I checked the rate with Hilton Honors and it was $50 lower. I asked for a price match at check in and was told they could not help me because I booked through a third party. Was told there was nothing they could do, and I felt "dismissed." Not offered the normal small gift for being a valued member at check in. Overall, I normally have a great experience at this hotel. The location is ideal. They have a large outdoor area that includes a fire pit. This is the main reason I rated it a three. The rooms are comfortable. However, I did not like the idea that dogs are welcome. There were several dogs in the hotel. We were going to eat in the bar one night, but the bartender had a bad attitude so we left. For the breakfast, the waffles were good. However, the scrambled eggs were tasteless and watered down. We were there two days and the second day they did not have any meat in the buffet . We booked and payed through Expedia, when we arrived they person at the desk said we had to pay there despite is telling her we already payed. Upon getting home we double checked, and sure enough we were charged twice. We called for a refund and the man answering the phone, RANDY, was extremely rude and still refused to refund us. Beautiful property in a very picturesque setting. Staff was very genuinely friendly with a desire to serve. The young lady handling the breakfast buffet was the best. She went out of her way to keep all of the food selections fully stocked and looking very appetizing. I wish I would have gotten her name but she was a true joy. "The Keuka Breeze" restaurant is a well kept secret, but we are spreading the word!!! The food is delicious and cocktails very very satisfying!! Jeff is both bartender and server and his passion for the food comes out as well!! This was our second visit and the food once again was delicious! This visit I had the Crab encrusted Faroe Salmon with yummy lemon beurre blanc sauce and rice. My husband had a special of "beef au jus" with very tasty house made fries. Our first trip we started with a lobster roll special as an appetizer and they cut it in four for us very nicely done and Old Bay fries to die for!! I had the filet and crab cake special, my filet was very very flavorful and cooked to temp. My SIL had the salmon ( reason why I got it this trip :)), another special and a pasta dish rounded out our group. Again cocktails and IPA's on point. View off balcony is lovely of the lake, just a bit of moving umbrellas created shade for all! We live on the lake and have added the Breeze to our Penn Yan restaurant rotation.. live music on Fridays & Saturdays and starting back up in the fall, fish fry's and prime rib nights!! One of our favorite stays! We paid for a water view and it was worth it. It was very uplifting to see the water of Keuka Lake while laying in bed! Sunrise and sunset were beautiful out the window and sitting in chaise-lounges on the back patio. Bed and bath were clean and well thought-out. They even had a towel hook on the wall next to the shower! Simple things make a difference. Coffee was good and available 24/7 with paper cups and real 1/2&1/2. Breakfast egg mini-omlets w cheese were better than most. The AC was strong and noise fairly smooth. Room and whole hotel were very attractive. Nearby town was safe and uncrowded. The fire pit was lit near dusk every night. We ate dinner in the bar one night, which was very pleasant, with Jeff as the host. The linguini itself was expensive, scant, heavily-prepared but good enough. But the overall experience felt very special with the sparkling lamps, view, service. Jeff was excellent. The deck off the dining area was bright and breezy - lovely for cocktails. The gym had multiple machines and the small pool and working jacuzzi (!) were used by families having fun. We stayed here while visiting Watkins Glen, 32min away. This place made us very happy. Highest recommendations. read more

Spent the night here. Got the side of the building with the lake view. Just beautiful. Lots of things to watch on the lake. Lots of birds too on the lawn. Sit on the lawn chairs, have dinner outside, go for a walk. It's all relaxing. The hotel was nice, breakfast was good, staff friendly. Plenty of hot water, lots of towels, bed was good, and pillows nice. Now why didn't I give this place a 5 star? Well the bathroom floor needed a better cleaning. There were signs that it hadn't been swept. Also the bed was weirdly made. Maybe the staff was in a hurry that day. Would I stay here again, yes, the view is well worth it. read more

My wife and I booked our NY vacation after we realized that travelling by plane wasn't in the cards this year. We booked the best room in the hotel for our 1 week stay 2 months before our check in date. A lake view room with a patio. The room rate was nearly $300 per night. When we arrived in our room we eagerly opened the door to see the lake view. I was horrified. There was no lake view, just a view of huge piles of dirt created by the hotels construction of a new catering facility. Besides not having a view our patio was inundated with the loud noise of the air conditioning compressor and fans for the indoor pool. So my question is... If the hotel knew (and the manager readily admitted that she she did.) that this room no longer had a lake view, why would they sell it as one and charge the most expensive rate for it? I would have been better off with a parking lot view. So anyway, after complaining the manager admitted that the hotel was in the wrong and she comped our first night and agreed to move us the next day to a third floor room with a lake view. This move resulted in my wife and I having to climb the stairs during our vacation, because we specifically chose this room because it would allow us to enter and exit the room without passing through the lobby and use elevators. So, a little more exercise. No biggie. As far as cleanliness is concerned, the hotel fails miserably. I saw no signs of hydro-static spraying like Hilton advertised on their website. My wife and I knew that the maids would not enter the room after check-in and that we would be leaving our dirty towels outside to be replaced daily. Unfortunately, the maids did enter our room to deliver the soap amenities that my wife requested, while we were out. As far as the towels are concerned... Does anyone think that it hygienic to leave wet dirty towels on the carpet in the hallway all day? Think about where those towels have been! Or the bags of garbage from the room for that matter. The hallway looked like a dump when we returned at 3 pm on Tuesday. Maybe the hotel should provide $2 plastic hampers for each room. When we contacted the hotel about the fact that we had no regular coffee in the room only decaf., we were told that they were out of regular coffee. A professional in the hospitality industry might have come up with a way of providing a regular cup of coffee to their guests, considering that they do have a restaurant, but not at this Hampton Inn. Finally, the patio with a lake view and a fire pit sounds nice, right. Well the patio has about a dozen chairs and you need to beg steal and borrow to get one in the afternoon. Need some shade from the July sun? Don't expect to find an umbrella at one of the tables because their are none. Want to sit by the fire pit at night? Well you had better have your family members camp out there by 5 pm. The whole time I was at this property one family controlled the fire pit from 5-10 pm. You can't share a fire pit in the Covid-19 environment. Finally, the restaurant manager who is also the construction manager/landscaper and geese remover, decides that a good time to mow the lawn by the patio would be at 5-6 pm, which is exactly when most guests are looking to sit on the patio after a days events. I understand that this gentleman is working his tail off, trying to do the best job that he can, but the timing of the lawn mowing is akin to bleaching the restaurant floor during dinner service. A true professional in the hospitality industry would understand the mistake in this plan. So, we had to cut our Finger Lakes vacation short and check out the next morning. The only saving grace for this property was the young man named Randy who works at the front desk. He professionally managed the hotels hospitality issues and tried to communicate them to the managers which were almost never present. In the future we will find a better managed, and cleaner property to stay at in FLX. read more

After arriving at what turned out to be the sketchiest AirBnB ever, my fiance and I did a frantic search for more suitable lodging. Hampton Inn Penn Yan showed up in a search as being close by, and I attempted to book a room through the Hilton app. No dice. But I went to booking.com and easily found a lake view room for a 4 night stay. I travel often, and this hotel is probably one of the cleanest I've ever seen. It's nearly new and the staff seems to take pride in keeping the place up and providing great service. It's not all sunshine and roses, though. The walls are extremely thin. We could hear our neighbors using the bathroom, arguing, getting drunk, and yelling at each other. I called the front desk to have them address the noise, but I think you can hear your neighbors if you talk in anything louder than a whisper. We had to get up early to drive to run in a marathon one morning, and hearing our neighbors come in after the bars closed was less than awesome. Overall, though, we had a great stay. Hilton properties tend to not disappoint, and I'd definitely stay in this hotel again. read more

Absolutely beautiful hotel with a great, central location. All of the staff is really nice and courteous. You can walk to restaurants and the movie theatre. The pool has a great view down the lake and long hours from 9am to 10pm. They have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available for free around the clock. The fitness room is gorgeous and everything is so new. The rooms have great, thoughtful amenities such as refrigerators and extra stools so there are seats other than just the beds and desk chair. The decor is updated and gorgeous. Great location to use as a home base to visit wineries on Keuka and Seneca Lakes. Hot breakfast is included. Waffles, French toast, and omelettes are all offered. They also have oatmeal and fresh fruit. Highly recommend this hotel! read more

Rooms a extremely clean and everything is new. Good if you're passing through the area. Rooms facing the back of the hotel have a depressing view of what looks like a lumber yard. I booked a lake side room and called to confirm. Yet they placed me in such a room. Being 6 hours away from home with no other options I took it. What a depressing weekend. I stayed at the Hampton Inn for a quick trip to the Finger Lakes during April 2017. It is slightly shocking to me that the Hampton Inn is reasonably priced based on where it is located. If you're lucky enough to get a room facing the lake it is really stunning to watch the sunset. The Hampton Inn also has a really nice outdoor space for guests to use. If it had been a little warmer during my trip I wouldn't hesitated to watch the sunset outside while I "recovered" from a day of wine tasting. The hotel still felt new which was nice. The beds were very comfortable. If I had one compliant it would be that due to its somewhat centralized location it attracts a variety of people. During our stay I had to call the front desk to ask them to address the loud room of twenty-somes next to us. In a nutshell for the price the Hampton Inn in Penn Yan can't be beat. read more

Wow, my favorite Hampton Inn to date! We were there a few weeks after it opened and this hotel has all the latest Hampton upgrades and it shows they are really listening to feedback. First, the setting...This hotel is outside the business district but directly on the lake. Half the rooms face the lake and there is a balcony on one floor and a lakeside patio with tables and chairs on the lower level. (When doing online check in, the lake side has the odd numbered rooms!). The common areas are really nice and the flow has been thought out better in the dining area and breakfast bar. The rooms are smartly done with some good upgrades like: electrical plugs raised on the wall so you can reach them and numerous bedside plugs and USB jacks for charging. The tv has easy-access ports for HDMI and USB in case you bring your own video devices. The bathroom is also smarter - with the shower controls offset and higher on the wall so they're close when you're standing outside the tub, a shelf for your soap/shampoo that doesn't accumulate water, and a lower profile tub with a non-obtrusive grab bar for easy in and out. Needless to say the whole place was spotless since it was brand new. Overall it was a great experience and the staff were super friendly. I will happily stay there again when I'm on my road trips or make it a stay while checking out the local wine trail. read more

Our first time to the Finger Lakes Region, and this was the perfect hotel for us. We were greeted very warmly upon arriving. All the staff we encountered on our several day stay were extra friendly and helpful. We had a large room overlooking the lake. Beautiful, actually stunning, views, exceptionally clean room. There is an outside sitting area with a fire pit. Restaurants within walking distance. We were probably one of the only ones not there for the wineries. We were there to do some sightseeing and this was a perfect location. From here we were able to ride to the other Finger Lakes as well as a trip up to Lake Onterio. Will definitely return. read more

Stayed at the Penn Yan NY Hampton Inn on short notice due to an unexpected funeral. The hotel was super busy, but Chris and Judy went above and beyond our expectations in helping us. Chris helped us out initially, and Judy followed up when we wanted to switch rooms partway through our stay. Both were very kind and professional, as was the rest of the staff we encountered. Customer service and appreciation is sometimes just an overused slogan but in this case it was genuine. Aside from our personal experience, this Hampton Inn has a beautiful location, a very nice breakfast, and a good workout room, pool, and laundry facilities. It's fairly new, and looks it - nice décor, lots of USB charging spots. We visited in winter so the floors of our original room on the bottom level were really cold, but welcome to NY! I have stayed @ Hampton Inn in Penn Yan on two occasions in the past month. The staff is attentive and the rooms/hotel are immaculate. The view of Keuka Lake from the room is beautiful. The front desk called my room to make sure all was well after I checked in and the cook for the complimentary breakfast made sure all the food was to our satisfaction. Everything is a few minutes from the hotel. The combination of the price, view and staff make staying here the only choice when I visit Penn Yan. read more

We had always wanted to visit the Finger Lakes area of NY and finally just went and did it. It is a huge region with many lakes but most have small hotel/motel properties in relatively run down areas (sort of rural lake living). We decided on Penn Yan as is was centrally located on Lake Keuka. There were a few well known named hotels there but some didn't get great reviews. We choose the Hampton for consistent quality. We were not disappointed (after the first day). We arrived in the late afternoon and were given a room on the first floor but didn't really take notice exactly "where" the room was. It was literally 10 feet from the check in counter. Yes 10 feet. It was also about 15 feet from the breakfast/social room. We were tired and since it was late there were no more rooms. It was a relatively sleepless night and it was EXTREMELY noisy all night and the AM was even worse due to the breakfast room activity. We had left a message for the manager who was to come in the next AM. To Hampton's credit they made it right. Chris (the Manager) "owned" the service failure, he comped the first night (which was horrible) and gave us an upgraded room on the third floor facing the lake. The new room was wonderful and made our stay worth the drive. Breakfast was typical Hampton buffet and was slightly different each day. The facility is only three years old and it shows. Meaning an outstanding, clean facility. The Fitness room is more than adequate, clean and well equipped-better than many we have stayed at. The location of the property is perfect. Literally a couple minutes from downtown and the available restaurants. The rooms are not inexpensive but we found that all over NY State, its just expensive, period. The location is also strategically located near dozens of outstanding wineries, but other than that and "lake sports" that's all there is to do. But that's Ok as it was what we set out to do. We did meet a couple at the fire pit from Rochester (up the road) who have stayed at EVERY one of the Finger Lakes (~22 of them) and they liked Keuka the best. That says a lot for location, and the Hampton. The room we were first given needs to be converted to an office as it is useless as a guest room. (Room 213). We made that recommendation to the Manager and on Trip Advisor. We will definitely go back however with a plan to be VERY SPECIFIC on our room needs. If you want to see the Finger Lakes, Hampton Penn Yan is a great choice. read more

The free breakfast was tasty and helped get the day off on a good note. Half the rooms overlook the lake and in the summer,it must be beautiful. Lovely lakeside setting; our room had a view of the lake. Comfortable beds, clean room/bathroom. Nice patio outside with tables & umbrellas. Also, a fire pit at night for anyone who wanted to stay outside. There is also another patio one level higher, but no chairs to sit up there, which would have been nice as the weather was warm. Breakfast was decent with a lot of different choices. The breakfast attendant was particularly nice, and offered to help guests if needed. She also kept the tables very clean (so nice!).
