The inn had no power, which is not their fault obviously, there was a storm. And the one employee there, Yogi, was doing her best to field everyone. So why am I leaving one star? We were having flooring installed in our house this week. I didn't want to be traumatized by the mess and lack of a shower which became temporary storage for all of my shoes, so I decided it was staycation time. Absolute requirement was an indoor pool with hot tub... and they delivered! I'm pretty sure you could cook hotdogs in that little slice of heaven. As a Hilton Honors member, I typically stay at Hampton Inns. They're not bougie but they're also not low end. They have free continental buffet breakfast with actual eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and waffles, not just cereal and yogurt. Most have digital check in/out and keys. The rooms DO have mini fridges but no microwaves. Free WiFi. Always clean and tidy. The staff are always helpful and friendly regardless of the location. I typically cruise the halls in my jammies and slippers with my hair a mess like I own the place. This particular location had everything I expected and I loved hanging out in the pool area. The rooms and facilities show the typical wear and tear, but there were indications they're addressing those issues. Even though I'm local, I will definitely stay here again. A typical Hampton Inn, good bed and hot breakfast. It could use a little refreshing but it was clean.

The staff was incredibly friendly but very clearly understaffed for the weekend. The rooms are interesting in the fact that you can clearly hear everything that happens in the bathroom. I understand the door design to save space but it actually makes it so you can hear everyone go to the restroom. The water in our sink was incredibly hot while the water in our connecting room was only cold. The shower old has two options freezing or scalding hot. The beds were comfort and had plenty of pillows. Definitely something most hotels lack. The pool area was nice. Other than the hot tub being out of order. The front desk was kind enough to bring more towels to the pool area twice while we were there. The breakfast selection was great. My only complaint was there was one waffle maker and several who wanted waffles. And the orange juice from the machine didn't work. But other than that it was great! I loved their good morning bags they had available. Over all our stay was good I would recommend them as a place to stay especially if you wanting to stay close to St. Louis but don't want to stay in the middle of the city. This is a very typical Hampton. Its located directly off of the freeway so easy access but back far enough away to avoid road noise. It has all the amenities that you would expect from a Hampton from breakfast to a nice size, gym and conference rooms available for rent. The rooms are nice and well-kept. read more

We travel cross country a lot and the majority of our stays are at Hampton Inn,this HI left a lot to be desired for cleanliness; random hair (curly) left in soap dish, wobbly bathroom sink faucet, spilled food stains left in refrigerator, curtain drape across coat hangers for a closet ( did they run out of money for the closet)??? Then they add extra money on my bill for incidentals??? ie breakage?, phone calls??? When I called to complain to the manager I was told she wouldn't be there until tomorrow so I related to the desk clerk (Jennie) my complaints, no apologies, nothing and was told the extra charges would come off in 3-5 day??? WTH We never had extra charges put on our bill EVER (Hilton honors member)at any HI before...Plus they must have problems at this place since you need your room card to get in after 10:00 pm...The breakfast was to say the least, meager, and substandard unlike the Hampton Inn we stayed at last night in Wheeling West Virginia, like night and day... You could see they tried at some levels to keep it clean but management is really not being very attentive to the we customer experience... read more

I have no idea in the world how people rated this place as 4 starts. It's not...it's barely 1 star. First thing I see when pulling up is about 5 people smoking under the front door overhang. At that point, I should have just left, but I didn't. Get to the front desk, good staff, things look normal. Take the elevator to my floor, and things proceeded to go downhill quickly. The carpet is way past the point it should have been replaced. Every door I pass looks like some on purposefully chipped it. Get to the room and, ok, it wasn't horrible. Then I go to close the shade. The shade is torn, filthy and god knows what else. Based on the foregoing, I'm not worried about bedbugs. The best thing Hilton can do is sell this property to some fly-by-night hotel operator. Alternatively, I suppose they could take it down to the studs and give the remodel it is at least a decade overdue. read more

Located in a very busy high traffic area-but my room was very clean- shower was the best I ever experienced!! Large crack in the wall by window and disappointed that the hot tub was not working. Breakfast was not good,in my opinion & coffee was not good-recommend going out for breakfast. Also, some type of bad odor throughout the hotel- maybe mold or the carpets need to be deep cleaned. I was shocked at the condition of the room. I had stayed there when they first opened, and it was fine. This stay shows that they are not maintaining the hotel. The bathroom had mold in the tub, on the shower curtain, & under the rim of the toilet. The sink and the floor looked as though they had not received a cleaning (other than a swipe with a towel) since they opened. The heat/ac unit had dirt on top of it and I doubt if they changed the filter. I expected better from a Hampton Inn. read more

Not a great Hampton. If you're traveling and need a place to stay for one night, maybe. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Pro: Friendly staff. Cons: You can tell management is cutting costs. The rooms need upgrades. Kind of worn-down bedding, spots on the walls. They put one single full-size towel in our room (two beds). The traffic on the highway outside is loud. The rooms are tiny. 11/18. My family has 5 rooms this weekend and we stay here several times a year as we have extended family in town. The quality of this hotel has deteriorated over time but this stay has been the worst. The employees do not seem to take any ownership of responsibility. This morning during breakfast the trash piled up outside of the wastebaskets w hole employees walked around and looked at it. A guest had to ask for coffee to be made. The water in my shower would not turn off and the bathroom was out of shower gel. I asked the housekeeper to replenish it and when I came back in the evening it was still empty. I went to the front desk and asked for some and was told that nothing could be done until morning as she was the only employee here until morning and she didn't have access to supplies. She is sorry but she is just here to check in guests. The plaque that says manager on duty doesn't show a name. The entry light in the room is burned My nephew asked when he made his reservation if the hotel had cribs and was told they have pack and plays available. When he checked in he was told they don't have any. 11/19 There is no shampoo in the shower. Those large dispensers are great for the environment but they need to be checked by house cleaning to ensure that they have sufficient amounts for guests. read more

With my Father in the hospital after a triple bypass and having to change hotels because of overbooking the last thing my family and I needed was the ridiculously rude attitude by the General manager at this Hampton Inn. He was rude, officious and unhelpful. If that wasn't enough during the night a minimum of 12 cars , including ours had their windows smashed and cars rifled through for valuables. The General manger wouldn't even come in and take care of the customers. He cravenly left that to his much more empathetic and competent staff members thankfully. I do want to give a shout out to the lady at the front desk Katie or Kathy I'm not sure, who comped our room for the nights of our stay and another staff member Lorinda, who swept up glass so that people didn't have to drive over the broken glass. They were extremely helpful under what I am sure was a great deal of stress. They are the the only reason that this hotel got the two star rating. They had no security cameras and nobody came by and let us know that the parking lot had been hit. It was really disgraceful. read more

We stayed at this hotel last night and almost everything was positive. Our room was spotless and the mattress was very comfortable, although it was a small room compared to those at the other four Hampton Inns we stayed at during this vacation. The (free) "hot breakfast" was the typical carb-heavy stuff and the coffee cups were minuscule (the latter is problematic for taking coffee with you), but the people working in the breakfast room were *very* friendly. The one negative was the front-desk clerk at check-in; he was incredibly UNfriendly to the point of being almost *hostile*. We spoke to the manager this morning when we checked out (we'd arrived long after she'd left yesterday), and she was really nice & very concerned. read more

Just what you'd expect from any Hampton Inn except for one nice surprise. As a Hilton Honors member who stays in a different hotel while traveling almost every week, never have I been more welcomed for my stay than by Mike at the front desk. He was one of the most gracious, courteous, and enthusiastic front desk clerks I've ever met. I've been to average hotels to some of the most luxurious resorts in the world and rarely have I had a more memorable, welcoming encounter than with Mike at the Hampton. For all I know, he could have been the manager because it seemed he showed respect to the hotel by the way he treated me. It's as if it were his own. If he wasn't the hotel manager, he should be a concierge for one of Hilton's premiere establishments. He's that friendly and accommodating. The hotel is just like any other Hampton Inn... clean, affordable, etc. Mike made the visit an enjoyable one simply by the way he treats incoming guests. This St. Charles Hampton Inn = 4 stars. Little surprise when we checked in. We had to pay a $50.00 damage deposit, they will refund in about 2 weeks if room is ok. We also found out they only clean your room every 3rd day. I asked for more towels and check in desk said most guests reuse them. We don't do that at home certainly not on vacation. read more

Likes: Property was nice. Staff was courteous, and the room was clean. Looks like it may have recently been renovated. Dislikes: there's a smoking area right in front of the hotel entrance. So be prepared because the smokers frequent the area. During the evening headed out for dinner, in the smoke area there were also guests enjoying 6 packs (again right in front of the main entrance). Also, in my room I could smell cigarettes throughout my stay. Just to reiterate, the property was nice. The staff was beyond nice. Very friendly and I was always greeted with a smile. However, my dislikes would probably prevent me from staying at this property again. Not sure if certain sections of the hotel was for smoking but in the 3rd floor I could definitely smell cigarettes. read more

Make sure to ask for a room away from the highway . I did but too late , because I prepaid through the Hilton site the night desk help could've change my room ????? The room was much smaller than a normal Hampton with the " closet " actually a hook with a curtain over it where the front window would be . Housekeeping and breakfast service all met the Hampton standards . I'd suggest you check out the country inn near the historical district before checking in here . read more

Really nice. I was driving from Maryland to Colorado . This is where I got tired. I checked in late. The check in was quick. The service was friendly. I went to my room. The key card didn't work. I went back down and the gentleman at the front desk reset my card. I went back upstairs and I fell sound asleep on the very comfortable bed. I got up early in the morning, grabbed a piece of fruit from the very nice free breakfast, and left. Adorable decor. Nice employees. If I ever get tired outside St. Louis again, I would definitely stop there again. read more

We have always liked Hampton inns spacious rooms.. this one was sub par with their other locations. Small lobby, small dinning area but the room was also tight for two queens. The bathroom was not appealing with a sliding door that doesn't close all the way. Good thing we were using Expedia points otherwise I would not be a satisfied customer. Very nice and clean hotel. Everything we needed they offered during our stay for thanksgiving. Enjoyed the free breakfast in the am, coffee available 24/7 in lobby, and the fitness center was great! This hotel was perfect for our high school robotics team. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to accommodate us. Rooms are a little on the small side, but very clean and updated. Beds are very comfortable and they provide lots of pillows. Very nice pool area and fitness center. Breakfast was great and they accommodated our early morning departures. I have stayed at this location at least a couple times a year for the past five years or so. While it's not in the sexiest area of town it is a great value for business travel and there are plenty of places to eat just a short drive away. It's obviously one of the older properties so the rooms are a little on the small side but everything is clean and in good working order. I've seen a couple complaints about noise in other reviews but I always ask for a room on an upper floor away from the elevator. The staff has always been accommodating and I have never had a problem with noise. The hotel gets big kudos for including plenty of plugs in the room. Anyone who has ever traveled with a laptop, a personal phone and a work phone knows how frustrating it is to not have enough outlets. Thank you! They also get another round of applause for how they handle bad weather. When I was there in February 2014 there were at least two nights of snow. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that not only had the parking lot been cleared early in the morning, but staff had also gone around and cleared snow and ice from all of the guests' cars. Good attention to detail and one of the cleanest bathrooms I've experienced and I'm very picky.

Clean and tidy. Smaller than most Hampton rooms, but not a big deal. My objection is with the noise - probably a product of being a 30+ year old building. We were in 201 right by the elevator. The noise from one of the 2 elevator's cables was terrible! Also the 1986 window (it is stamped with the date!) didn't block out highway noise or even conversations on the ground below). No amount of trying to use the AC unit's fan (fail) or my white noise app on device saved this night's sleep. The staff refunded our stay and we very courteous, but this building needs a remodel. If staying here, ask for a room away from the elevators and the highway. read more

Friendly & helpful staff; well maintained, clean, good amenities (pool, workout room, internet access), spacious rooms. What I like the most is the clean white cotton sheets with white duvet cover. It is easy to know if they are washed or not (i.e visual & olfactory inspection).
