We just stayed at the Green Tree Inn in Elsah for our annual weekend. We cannot say enough good…read morethings about the new Innkeepers. Megan and Calvin are the perfect hosts ! The Inn has the same warm and homey feel to it as it was with Connie and Gary. They have converted the "antique" room to a game room and filled it with board games ( or bring your own.) The breakfasts were fantastic (especially Megan's breakfast pizza with a puff pastry crust.) The afternoon treats are amazing (cinnamon pecan coffee cake and fresh raspberry cheesecake tarts..yumm!) The common area with the fireplace and the comfy couch and chairs is perfect after a day of hiking a Pere Maquette or exploring Grafton. The rooms are cozy and very clean. It is such a relaxing getaway ! I look forward to many more trips to the Green Tree Inn !

My friend and I stayed in the Meadowlark Room, featuring two full beds and a shower/tub. The room was immaculately clean, quiet, and adorably antiquated. Connie and Gary could not have not been kinder or more hospitable hosts. Breakfast was lovely, and hot and cold beverages were available in the common area along with Connie's delicious homemade treats -- she even insisted on packaging up brownies for us to take on the road when we departed! When visiting, do ask Connie and Gary for instructions on how to take a self-guided driving tour of nearby Principia College, which features many amazing buildings by architect Bernard Maybeck and stunning views from the bluffs of the Mississippi River. I'll be looking for an excuse to return to Elsah for another stay at Green Tree Inn... Highly recommended!

One room has a bathroom adjacent in the hall and leads to a kitchen area and living space. Full kitchen comes with anything you need including utensils, cutlery, and even those condiments you forgot! There is also a balcony with tables chairs and grill. If you get the penthouse on the third floor you won't be disappointed! Huge full kitchen with amenities like the second floor Kitchen. Huge living area with comfy couches and large dining table. 2 bed rooms can sleep 4. The huge balcony with tables and chairs provides an amazing view of the Clark bridge and Mississippi River. This place is within walking distance of many great Alton eateries and shops. Also only a 16 minute drive to Grafton or Edwardsville for for entertainment. One drawback is the parking. No dedicated lot so it's only street parking. There are dedicated spaces out front and side parking is available too. We cannot wait to come back and utilize this space again! *Wasn't able to picture of all the rooms just mine*

Owner still charged me for one night. Nothing close to what you see online. Staircase is super steep, doors do not have secure locks and windows in old doors. Shag carpet and furniture at least 30 years old. Creepy. Disappointed as he knew I was traveling in from California, arriving after dark. I told him I was visiting my handicapped daughter who stairs would not be safe for. Mike told me it was beautiful loft called the love Joy. Nothing beautiful here.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I…read morecame back to my room where their employee let a women into my room who was ACTIVELY ROBBING ME! They never asked the women for identification or the name on the room. Just let her right into my room. I believe the staff member was in on in it as I had gone down to the front desk not long before (at 11pm) and bought a Kit Kat and told the employee, William, my room number and that I was going to the gym for a bit. In the following 20 minutes he escorted a female to my room and just let her in. As I was walking down the hall back to my room, the employee who let her in was walking towards me. His face dropped, he said, "you are room 502, right?", I said, "yes". He then proceeded to get really uncomfortable and then tell me he just let a "drunk" women into my room because she said it was her room. When he finally let me in the room because my keys were deactivated, the woman was standing there with all my belongings dumped out all over the floor and bed. Everything I own! How are they not checking ID or at least verifying the name on the room? Very sketchy. All I got was an apology. Eventually when I pushed it to corporate they apologized and said all they would be willing to do is refund the charge for the night. Unbelievable! Not a safe hotel! I have been a loyal Hilton member for years. I will never stay with them again because of this incident and how they handled it.

I also had to have a company credit card shipped to the hotel and they had it waiting for me at the front desk. So bravo to the management and staff here! Thank you for making my chicken after a very long day so easy. I have a two queen room, with very comfortable beds. The room has a dresser, mini fridge, microwave coffee maker, hairdryer, and Desk for me to work at when I'm not in the office. There's a spacious closet and the bathroom is large and not cramped. The continental breakfast has everything you need or want and is included in your room price. And I love the social happy hour, the pool, the hot tub and gym are all great amenities. Their toiletries selection, snack and drinks selection are more affordable than some convenient stores. That saved me when I didn't have a car and realized I forgot several items. Saint Charles location is in the middle of its own little town and there are restaurants and stores all around it so you really don't even need a car. I was able to Uber to and from work and then find whatever I needed at the hotel or right around it
