I think the Hampton Inn Statesboro is a good, basic hotel. My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. Also known as Hampton by Hilton, this hotel opened in 2013, across the street from the Walmart Neighborhood Market and next door to the hospital (East Georgia Regional Medical Center). Also next door is a new Chipotle which just opened in 2021. Statesboro is all grown up now. ;) First, I have to give a shout-out to front desk worker Evan, 2019 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School (IIRC). He was awesome. Very nice guy who provided excellent customer service. A hard worker too, as he told us this was his second job, selling paint at Benjamin Moore being the first. Evan took great care of us. The lady at the front desk the day we checked out was polite and kind too. And so was the housekeeper lady we saw on our way out. So, good people all around as far as we could tell, work at this Hampton Inn in Statesboro. We got room 401 on the 4th floor (top floor) for three nights, after tax, for $359.40. The actual nightly rates varied, but this worked out to an average of $119.80 per night after taxes. These were Hilton Honors nonrefundable rates. The room had a king bed and standard features and amenities. The room was clean and in good condition. It looked just like the pictures we saw online. Oftentimes, that's not the case, so I commend Hampton by Hilton for that. This hotel has 90 rooms. If I had to nitpick, the TV was a little small compared to other hotel room TVs, most of which are big these days. Also, the TV wasn't smart, so it didn't have apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, but that was OK. At least it had live HD channels like ESPN. The bathroom was stocked with only the bare essentials: thin bars of soap and two-in-one shampoo and conditioner. Plenty of towels, though. If needed, things like toothbrushes and toothpaste can be requested from the front desk, compliments of the hotel. It took an unusually long time for the shower water temperature to heat up each day. I wonder what was up with that. Some of the bed pillows were too flat. Both my wife and I prefer sturdy, supportive pillows. Also, the office desk chair arm was damaged and the seat had stains on it. I actually put a towel down on the seat so I didn't have to sit on the stains... whatever they were. Generally speaking, we had a clean and comfortable stay. The thermostat and HVAC unit worked well. The bed was nice and comfy. So comfy, I slept in until about noon one day. The free Wi-Fi internet was fast and reliable enough, at least for our purposes. We enjoyed both the light and dark roast coffee, hot chocolate, and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby / dining room. We missed breakfast, but the little breakfast buffet room they have did look decent. There's a tiny two-computer business center, snack shop (slim pickings), and small gym and outdoor pool. Sometimes, we would take the stairs instead of the elevator for exercise. The stairwell closest to our room was relatively nice (weird to say about a stairwell), clean, carpeted, and quiet. There was plenty of parking and the property felt safe. It was really laid back (kind of dead) and very easy to get in and out. This Hampton Inn is consistent with and epitomizes the lifestyle in Statesboro: convenient and relaxed.

Roaches in our room, floor extremely sticky, questionable stain on wall next to bed. I love Hampton Inn but this is by far my worst experience. I am very disappointed.

Always great staying here. Very nice rooms, clean, good maintenance, and that great Hampton breakfast! And the prices here are better than at the other two good hotels in Statesboro. I have no idea why Priceline only rates this 2.5 stars; it should easily be 3. Maybe it has to do with a full serve restaurant? But I really like this place; it's my preference. I only wish they gave Silver upgraded wifi for free; at this price it should be complimentary.

Muffins, fake egg and cheese omelet, turkey sausage waffles, something different every day.

The Hampton Inn opened in 2013. This Holiday Inn opened on June 15, 2008. Both hotels have been around long enough to get their fair share of wear and tear. We stayed at both hotels in recent years. I think the Hampton Inn has been maintained better. It's nicer. This Holiday Inn is not to be confused with the Holiday Inn Express that's closer to downtown Statesboro, on South Main Street. Two nights in a standard room with one king bed cost us $418.12. We redeemed 10,000 Chase Sapphire credit card points worth $125.01, so the final dollar amount billed was $293.11. Regardless of the credit card points, it cost $209.06 per night after surcharges. Check-in time was 3pm and check-out was 11am. Breakfast wasn't included. Amenities included a gym, pool, and event spaces. There was an event going on the Thursday night that we checked in. Overall, I do think this is a nice property with a good, functional layout. It just needs a little more TLC. When we checked into our room, there was debris and hair on the floor throughout the living room and bathroom. There was soap scum on the standing shower door and separate glass panel. There was mold/mildew, rust, and stains at the base of the shower and on the wall and floor in front of the shower. So yeah, the room wasn't very clean. We called the front desk to notify them about the above. Someone came within 10-15 minutes. They appeared with a vacuum cleaner, spray bottle with some sort of cleaner/disinfectant, and a rag. We had to leave so we didn't see the cleaning. When we returned, some of the debris and hair had been cleaned up, but some of it was completely missed. Oh well, better than nothing. As a result, I never felt completely comfortable in our room. I didn't feel the same way at the Hampton Inn. I actually felt comfortable in our room there. A few minor gripes: (1) The toilet roll holder was in an awkward location. It was on the wall behind the toilet, above the trash can. Not ideal. It should be repositioned. (2) The Keurig coffee in the room didn't taste good. (3) The cable TV setup on the LG TV was weird. It wasn't possible to watch HD in full screen. If I wanted to watch ESPN in HD without the image getting distorted/stretched, I had to watch it in a small box within the TV display. As for the positives, there were several: (1) The bed was comfy. My wife and I liked it. (2) Our room, 335, was spacious. I thought it looked modern enough. My wife thought it looked slightly dated. (3) The room had a nice corner view, facing north and west, above the 301 bypass, Chili's, and the Statesboro Crossing shopping center across the street. (4) The complimentary coffee in the lobby was usually hot and comforting. (5) In general, the staff was courteous and polite. (6) There was ample, easy parking. (7) While not great, the Wi-Fi was usable and reliable enough.
