I should've realized the reviews were from many years ago, my mistake. I ordered the bibimbap and didn't even finish half of it before giving up (there was also way too much rice). It came in a hot metal bowl which made it an in between bibimbap and dolsot bibimbap. It wasn't either one. They also didn't add sesame oil, I had to ask for it. Finally, the flavors of everything in it was not Korean. I asked them if there were any Korean people, and they said no. So I guess that makes sense. You eat what you pay for. We got the deal for €5.50 and it was very filling. I'm Korean and I cook so the food that we got was worth what we paid for. The miso soup wasn't authentic miso soup and you add your own salt to your taste but it was really disappointing. I would pass on it. The kimchi pork was good if you like a sour kick (they didn't cook the fermented kimchi that long). Meatballs were overhyped and taste like average meatballs you put in spaghetti at home. It isn't even Korean style meatballs. Marinated chicken: soft, flavorful and good. Would get again. Ridiculously cheap with huge amounts of food for what you're paying! This is located in the back of Hansung supermarket and is quite the hidden gem! While it's not decorated fancily, what it lacks in presentation it makes up for in the quality of food and the sheer amount they give you! First you order at the desk and then you're given a number which is called when your food is ready! They serve Chinese and Korean good here, so with that in mind the Kimchi Rice, Tteokboki (spicy rice cakes) , and Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) are all so good! The Bibimbap is also very good! The best part is that the dishes are all under 10€ which seems crazy??? Especially in Dublin! A really great place! read more

I ate here a while ago, but I still think it is the best Korean food in Dublin so far. The only issue is that they don't use card so make sure to go to the ATM first and then order. Food is great, but seating can be limited. It's also in the back of a grocery store so it might be hard to find, but you should find it because it is worth it. I don't recall there being a bathroom but it was a while ago. And the portion sizes are large so be sure to be hungry before you arrive. read more

Honesty moment: I have nothing to gauge whether this is good or bad Korean food. I just like good food. That being said, I definitely put this in the category of good FOOD food. I had the sizzling chicken, which I am assuming is one of the Chinese dishes other reviewers have spoken about because it tasted, well like Chinese food I've had before. The STAR of the show was the Kimchi fried rice. Oh my word was it nice. My husband got it with meat, and it was packed full of deep flavour. I did keep wondering if it was supposed to be spicier, because I know Kimchi is made with red pepper paste. But, that question didn't stop us from eating the MOUNTAIN of rice, meat and a fried egg they give you. For the price, it was so much food, too. We wound up doing a take out box (extra €.50) that will be more than enough for another meal. The whole thing for two people, and a potential third meal was €15. As for the way the place works, I am all about uncertainty avoidance. I was a little nervous the whole time that I'd embarrass myself by looking like the dumb girl who can't order food at a restaurant. And I kinda did a few missteps, but luckily got out alive. For others who have this same irrational fear, here are some tips: 1. It is in the back of an Asian market. So, walk through all that to get to the restaurant. 2. You order at the counter, go find a seat, even move some tables and chairs around if you need to. That's totally acceptable. There isn't a ton of room, but there didn't seem to be any problems with seating while we were there. 3. Cash is best. Debit is possible, but you have to go to the front, get money ...blah blah blah ... LONG ORDEAL. 4. Once the dish is ready, they will call out either a number OR a food item, and kinda quietly. So keep on your game. And they call them out as the dishes are done, not as a whole order. 5. Keep. Your. Tray. Because when you are done, you will take it to a secret tray room and put it neatly away. Don't be the jerk who leaves their tray of dishes on a table. 6. USER TIP: When your sizzling chicken (or any other "sizzling" dish) comes out, believe the name. It will be hot. And apparently my body can spit out food faster than my brain can register the burning sensation in my mouth. All this to be said, we will be going back. It was a great experience. I was brought here by a friend who frequents the korean deli at the back otherwise, I would never have known about it, now I go in 2-3 times a week. I ordered spicy pork and korean beef which comes with a dish of boiled rice and costs...wait for it...€5.50! It's too much for one sitting and tastes fab and if you're eating there, they'll give you a complimentary bowl of mesu soup with your meal. I love this place with all of my teeny, tiny heart. The proportions are ridiculously large and the food is excellent so this is a good thing. I never get the Chinese dishes , barring their sweet and sour pork, so can only review the Korean ones. The ojingo boekum (squid with chilli and vegetables) and bulgogi (beef marinated in sugar, sesame oil and other yummy ingredients) are excellent; however, their sweet and sour pork is to die for. It is perfection and worth waiting for should they run out. One gets three dishes with rice for €5.50, which is good value. They also sell kimbab, which is like sushi but the rice is plain and not vinegared, and this is also very good. The products in the store are primarily Korean so you can get your choco pies, pepero, kim, kim chee, frozen mandu, etc. The prices in the store are very good, too. read more

It's a bit hard to review Han Yang because it's a market and a restaurant. I went in for a quick lunch during the weekend because my friend had recommended it. The price is indeed cheap (a little under 6 euros). I ordered the spicy pork with kimchee and beef. While the cuisine is Korean, I think its more accurate to say that it is a mixture of Korean and Chinese. Some of the other dishes I got were distinctly more in the Chinese style (some stir fried veggies). I came in rather late for lunch (maybe 2PM) so the food had been sitting a little too long. The food isn't cooked to order, and the veggies were too soggy for my tastes (maybe OK for Irish tastes, har har). However the meat dishes were good. They gave a shitload of rice and the miso wasn't bad. I saw a number of people order noodle dishes, so I might try that next time. I glanced around the grocery to stock up on basic supplies like rice. They have a good selection of Asian goods and, uniquely, they sell their own kimchee behind the "deli" counter. Their butcher seemed quite popular too and I saw a number of people going in for the meats. A minor inconvenience is that they won't accept credit card for orders under 10 euro. I wanted to give the food a higher rating, and I may amend my review should I eat lunch there when the food has just been prepared. read more

A hidden gem, literally quite hidden on a quiet street! You can walk through to a little cafe where you can order ala carte or just rice with 3 dishes under the hot lamps for €5.50. It ain't pretty but it sure is tasty and great value for money, attested by the busy work crowd in the cafe at 1 pm on a Tuesday. At the front of the store is the Asian supermarket where they manage to pack everything under one roof. I went to Han Yang in search of a marinade for beef ribs or Kalbi. They had it - now I am just waiting for the opportunity to try it. Oddly, the butcher at the front of the store did not have beef ribs. As for the store itself, it is very clean and offers a good array of asian spices and fresh produce. Amazing! The food was good as it can get! There are a lot of amenities! The sizzling duck i ate was amazing, a good combination of vegetables such as mushroom with plenty of thick sauce! Best Korean restaurant in Dublin. Located at the back of the equally great supermarket (which has excellent ramen). The Bibimbap and kimchi fried rice are my staple meals here but everything is lovely. They have massive portions and you can pay 20 cent for a takeaway container if you can't eat it all. You can even request a meal for takeaway and unlike some restaurants that offer this, they'll give you the same portion as you would get if you sat in. Hidden gem in the Italian quarter. This tiny food place is located in the back part of the Asian store. It's always full with local ppl which is great sign. They do a plate menu for 5.50€ and you can choose from the three different dishes plus you will get a small bowl of miso soup. Portions are very generous and the food it self is amazing. The variety of ready made food is great Id say 8 dishes every day, plus you can order another types from the board menu, slightly more expensive. This place was recently renovated and it looks much cleaner as it use to be. I'm not saying it was dirty just it was a bit shabby. This Asian food hall is definitely my favourite one in Dublin! I came here about 2 or 3 times to buy groceries and Japanese ingredients like Tofu, noodles and miso since it's much cheaper than buying the same thing in a British store like M&S, and has the proper taste. Though not as big as some of the other Asian supermarkets in Dublin, they do have a good variety of stuff from meat, Asian vegetables, frozen goods and sauces to dried foods, drinks and sweets. However, they don't have much in terms of rice and don't sell soba noodles either, but they do seem to have a lot of the spices used in Korean cooking as opposed to other Asian cuisines. I had food in the little restaurant at the back with my friend once, and being honest, I hated it. I could barely stomach the bibimbap, and prefer raw egg instead of fried egg on it since that's what it's kind of supposed to be and what was shown on the picture. Also, they don't write what's actually in it either. Although very cheap, quality and taste and severely compromised, and the dishes are not that clean. Han Sung is a pretty tiny Asian Market but it has a decent selection if you're lacking soy sauce or rice wine vinegar...or something else of that sort. I actually like coming here for my meat for when I'm doing Asian cooking - I like to get thick slabs of pork belly here...they mince as well. It's sort of a separate butcher within the store so you pay them separately. I thought it was really a good deal and they are very generous with their portions. You could definitely share between 2 people and be full.
