Disappointed with my lunch today. My wife and I been coming here for years while on our way to or from Harrison Hot Springs - all good experiences. But today things were different. The chap who seated us rattled off a lengthy explanation about several daily specials or what was/wasn't available. After he finished I asked my wife if she had understood any of it, because I hadn't. She hadn't either. Then the waitress came to take our order. My wife ordered the bibimbap. I ordered the lunch bento, salmon. The waitress said something about BC salmon and an extra charge--and I agreed. I asked to have the salmon made without teriyaki sauce - and she said something about another charge. Our food came out pretty quickly and my wife was satisfied with her bibimbap. Unfortunately my bento wasn't right. First, they had neglected to put on the wasabi and ginger for the sashimi, so I had to ask for it. Then I noticed that there was no rice. So I summoned the waitress and asked if the bento was supposed to come with rice (I've been eating bento for years and have NEVER had one that didn't come with rice). She said it didn't, and offered to bring some. I declined as I was starting to wonder what I'd gotten myself into. How was the taste? The sashimi was fresh and good, and much tastier with wasabi and ginger. The hunk of cooked BC salmon on a bed of sautéed cabbage was also good. But alas the tempura was very oddly seasoned. The batter was too sweet, as if they were making donuts. We finished our meal and the check arrived. $2 up charge for the BC salmon. Okay I guess. But $3 up charge to not put teriyaki sauce on my salmon? Come on. read more

The menu is an impressive collection of variety, with so many food & beverage options for any palette and mood! The food is very visually appealing and extremely flavourful! I haven't been to Hana sushi for many years prior to tonight. I remember it being by far the best sushi in town, but I can't say that anymore. Our experience started when we were waiting for a table. The two staff that greeted us seemed to disagree if we could be seated right away. Within a few minute we were taken to a table that was next to multiple other empty tables. We ordered tea and had to ask twice, the server forgot. We ordered our food, the mains were good. I got a spicy salmon sashimi that came as a salad, very good. My dad got a few rolls. We ordered some miso soups, chicken karage, and spicy edamame to start. Both our mains came before the appetizers. My miso was hot, my dads was like warm. The spicy edamame appears to just have some sort of seasoning salt on it and was bland, there was an up charge for the spicy but it was not spicy. The chicken karage was by far the biggest disappointment. I've had a full spectrum of chicken karage but this was by far the worst I've ever had. The batter was glue like and had a beer batter flavour, definitely not the traditional soy and ginger marinade. The restaurant inside was clean, but the ambiance was plain. This definitely was not the Hana sushi I remember and I won't be going back. The only redeeming thing about the experience was how good the sashimi salad was, unfortunately everything else was a let down. I hate leaving reviews like this, but I sincerely hope this feedback helps the owners go back to what made Hana great. read more

Sadly I was not impressed nor will we go back. I got the salmon tuna special which in the Yelp menu was half the price of what I paid tonight. The sushi was just ok. I had to ask for the ginger and wasabi -wasn't sure if the chef forgot to put it on the plate or if it wasn't provided with the meal. But how can you eat sushi without wasabi? Oddly, there was no wasabi in the sushi either!) The salmon was ok but the tuna tasted like it may have been frozen. My husband had the spicy tuna combo - oddly it was seasoned with Sirachi (not the typical Japanese spicy wasabi or hot pepper oil) ! Finally, I didn't like the (Korean style) aluminum dishes. Part of eating Japanese food is the Japanese "feel" the beautiful traditional ceramic dishes give. What irritated me was the aluminum wasabi soy dish kept spinning around when you dipped your sushi in it. read more

The food and service were excellent. We ordered a deep fried California roll, a tuna roll, salmon sashimi, and deep fried mashed potatoes. The food came out in less than 5 minutes after ordering and tasted delicious. The restaurant itself has tall bench walls, so you do feel a bit more intimate with your dining partner. Reactive attitude to customers. If you have a line up at your door and someone pops in to check for timing or take out menus, do NOT jump down their throat before they've even opened their mouth to ask a polite question. Arrived and were very slow to be seated. They brought our waters then said they would be back to take the orders. 3 other tables were seated and served before they came back to us even though they came in after. Orders were finally taken 15 minutes after we arrived. Then another 15 minutes for one order to come out. Another 10 minutes for the other meal to come out. Nothing difficult was ordered. The staff not very friendly and did not seem to be rushed. Not sure if the kitchen was the issue or not, but the wait staff did not seem to concerned about keeping the patrons in the loop. Spicy tuna hand roll "cone" was mediocre gas station sushi quality at best. The "spicy" sauce was basically slightly spicy ketchup poured on top. Ordered the Bi Bim Bap and it was of equal low quality and tasted awful. I asked for something very slightly different from the menu for my 7 year old and they said they couldn't do special orders. I asked for chicken catsu without the sauce. I guess that wasn't within their possibilities. Stay away. read more

I've had it with the Sushi Nazi. The last straw was attending in-person dining just to be told that because there is 6 of us, there would be a 20% surcharge. As we are being led to our table the Sushi Nazi yells out "twenty percent - you owe 20%". BRUTAL. Forget the fact that the place was about 50% full, he was very rude, and wasn't the first time. When we said we were leaving he sarcastically said "have a good night". Too bad, the food is always good but I can't put up with a BRUTAL attitude any longer. read more

Great food! Very diverse menu, delicious salads. The only minus is sushi and rolls have too much rice.

Today was my first time and I'm already planning my next time. The atmosphere is classy with subtle hints of Japanese. The staff are warm and welcoming but not overbearing or pushy. We ordered the spicy tuna roll, the avocado roll and the deep fried California roll. Mmmmmmmmm! They were delish! The total for the rolls and tea and a coke was $22 after tax which I find beyond reasonable especially for the amazing quality. The tempura was crispy and not greasy and the tuna was so fresh and melted in your mouth! I did see the lunch box go by and that is my next order for sure. It consisted of chicken teriyaki, veggie tempura, deep fried California roll with a salad for $12.95 tax in and it looked and smelled AMAZING!!!! read more

Chilliwack store: Normally I would give this Resturant a 5 star, before the fire and while they were relocated for their place to be rebuilt, it was our favourite. Best sushi place in town, big servings and it had a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately when they rebuilt we were quite disappointed. Looks like a big cafeteria, no real privacy between tables. The servings are way smaller and prices of course up. Also they changed the menu, to bad. WE would go at least once or twice a week. We have not been back since our first visit after reopening. This is, in my opinion, the best place in Chilliwack to find Sushi. I have been a regular at this restaurant for several years and the quality of the fish is superior to that of its competition. The staff is polite and the price is reasonable. I recommend the home made Kimchi! read more

We are visiting Chilliwack from Surrey and decided to try sushi here. We had a few rolls, sashimi, gyoza, and tempura. The quality of the sushi was mediocre at best. The sushi had too much rice and was falling apart. The spicy sauce and gyoza dipping sauce were not particularly flavorful or inventive. The service, wild salmon sashimi, and tempura were good. Ultimately, the redeeming features will not be enough to bring us back. We will continue our search for the best sushi in Chilliwack. read more

Love this place. We were so sad when it burned to the ground, but now they are back and better than ever! The freshest and best sushi in town consistently! If you are sensitive to gluten and planning on eating sushi rolls at Hana I wouldn't recommend it. There is gluten in the most basic of things from their sushi rice to their spicy mayo. read more

I have been a long time customer for over 7 years. Always left happy and full. However it's amazing how one bad experience can spoil it all. Known by name here, I have spent a fortune over the years. Eating Sometimes 3 times a week. On this day I ordered salmon rolls and I couldn't eat my food. The meat was tough and like muscly or something. It was terrible I'm not usually picky but this was bad. I didn't finish my food I couldn't eat it. I lightly mentioned it to the staff and he blew me off and said it's the same salmon we always get. I mentioned I couldn't eat it. No sorry, no credit of some sort, nothing other the a good bye. Anyway I've always liked Hana. But as a loyal customer I should never be taken for granted. Customers pay your wage. now I have a sour taste in my mouth haven't been back since. I Guess they didn't enjoy my big tips. read more

Ordered the California rolls :) they tasted amazing! My brother ordered the Las Vegas Rolls personally I don't like those but according to him they where one of the best set with the most decor he has seen in a while from a fairly CHEAP :) Sushi restaurant. I give my dollars to this Sushi place only in the city of chilliwack. I find it to be not a big restaurant which I like but GREAT SERVICE! read more
