I hadn't shopped at Hancock's in a long time because their order processing has been slow but I decided to give them a 2nd chance so I ordered some patriotic fabric but I see the service hasn't improved. I ordered on May 27th and it looks like the order wasn't pulled until June 10th and I received the fabric yesterday June 14th. The bigger problem is the order wasn't correct. They sent the wrong jelly roll which clearly doesnt match any of the patriotic fabric I bought. I sent am email to ask what to do about it. I sure hope they still have that jelly roll or I'll need to return the coordinating fabric. read more

On many occasions I have ordered several coordinating fabrics for a project. 10 days later the order still hasn't shipped and now half of the fabrics are out of stock. They never contact me. Just send whatever they still have, so now I can't make what I intended. I once ordered a kit and 8 yards of coordinating fabrics for the backing. Never got the kit and now I'm stuck with 8 yards of fabric I have no use for. This never happens with Missouri Star Quilt Company. I'll be shopping there from now on!! read more

Very responsive, friendly and knowledgeable customer service. But they need to reevaluate policy of not allowing sales of a fraction of a yard and their high shipping costs. The order I almost submitted to Hancock's came to $67.44 because I had to order more than I needed. I was able to easily find the exact same fabrics at a different online store, I could order the exact quantities I needed and the shipping costs were more than $2.00 lower. Total $39.48. I saved $27.96. Get with it Hancock's you are losing sales to much more accommodating businesses. read more

If you are into fabric this is the place. I have ordered a few times online, but shipping is slow. I however had the opportunity to visit in person. Wow. People were friendly and helpful. There is so much in the store that it is almost overwhelming. I am glad that I did visit in person because I was able to pay attention to texture and color coordination. Ask a question, get no answers. Apparently the people who run Hancocks seem to think that fabric sells itself and they don't need to make any effort at all. Options galore! We went during quilt week on a Friday so you can imagine it was crazy crazy busy. The aisles are hard to go through given how narrow they are but I managed to go through 80% of the aisles and I saw great prices on some favorite designers, so that was a big plus. I do like how they divide things by designer because I usually like shopping the lines I know unless I just need a color to match and in that case, well,I just have to hunt more. The pre cut section in the back was impressive. My group of friends and I all went in to look but since it was our last stop after a day of the quilt show and other fabric stores, only 2 managed to walk out with items. I began quilting in 2014. In my beginning quilting class, I was told Hancocks of Paducah was an awesome fabric store. At that point I put it on my bucket list. Fast forward, I finally got to go today. Since it is a Saturday, they close at 3. We arrived at 1:42. By 2:11, I had about $400 of fabric in my cart and was about 3/4 finished with my shopping. This is when an employee rudely informed me that I needed to have my fabric cut because they closed at 3. She continued to be rude throughout our discussion. I was also told I should shop online since that is how they like to fill orders. Most quilters will agree that seeing/touching fabric is important when buying. I finished my shopping and was in the car at exactly 2:27. Ensuring that the crotchety employee could get out of work on time and her salary was paid for the week. I would suggest to the company that if, in fact, they only like online orders, they should close the retail store. If they want to keep the store open to the public, a little customer service training may be required. I waited 10 years to fill a bucket list item and it turned out to be a huge disappointment due to one rude employee. read more

I have never ordered from this establishment before. I received a gift certificate and when i tried to order on line they would not accept the order with out a credit card though i would have not used 1/2 the value of the gift card. Also when i placed the order, the confirmation stated that there would be a hold on my credit card for the amount of the order though no money was due as the gift card covered 200% of my order. As they are having a sale this week, there was also a notification that my order will not be shipped for at least 5 days regardless of the shipping method selected. This is the first and last time that i will order on line from this establishment and I am waiting to see what my visa card charges look like read more

I ordered from them in the past and it took over 3 weeks and still never received my fabric. The values seem to be great, but if you never receive your order, what good are great prices?? I tried again this year on Jun 3, 2025 and here it is Jun 26, and the order still shows as "processing". I called 2 weeks ago after it showed still "processing" after a week and a half to see when I might expect it. The lady told me they were behind in processing and it could take up to 2 weeks to process. Well, what about over 3 weeks? Is that acceptabl? I don't know how any company can stay in business with that amount of lag time between ordering and shipping? Just giving up. Calling tomorrow and canceling the order and will find somewhere else, even if it costs more. Does me no good if I can't get the fabric for a project I'm trying to complete. There is a truly vast amount of fabric for quilting and home decor. The only cons to shopping there are narrow aisles so maneuvering a cart isn't easy, and lack of advice in selecting fabrics. The staff is very, very nice but so busy that they don't have time to help. Still, I highly recommend Hancock's of Paducah. read more

This shop may be great for in person sales, but the online experience leaves much to be desired. And, the company doesn't put the customer first, they put their top dollar first and pretend they care about customers. My experience is as follows. And I will try to do a short version. I purchased several fabrics, one of which was 9 yards of, what I thought to be, white fabric with a very subtle pattern. The photo of the fabric shows exactly that. When I got the fabric, it turns out it was a (very poor quality) plain white. I called them about it and was told that plain white was what I had ordered. Per their return policy, I was welcome to return it at my shipping expense. I felt that this was unfair since their photo depicted an entirely different fabric than what I got. However they said that it was my fault for zooming in (which I did not do) and that their title description was what the fabric was and that I should have gone off of that. How was I to know that the image they were projecting wasn't what the title depicted? I am not a fabric savant and to me, it DID depict the photo! Yes, the title said solid, but there are several listings that also say solid but show a subtle pattern. And, I'm the customer. It's the sellers responsibility to make sure they're presenting their product correctly in both the title AND the image. I was told that they would give me a discount, but that if I wanted to return it I had to pay shipping. I offered to split shipping, (which would have been the discount amount anyways.) Again, the answer was no. I sent an email the Hancocks President, Justin Hancock. He was entirely unsympathetic, again putting the blame and responsibility on me, the customer. He said he didn't see the pattern, so I sent photos. I was told that it was not a pattern, but distortion from the camera. How am I supposed to know that!?!? Put a disclaimer ON the photo then saying that there may be distortion!! I filed a complaint with BBB and somehow they said they had reached out to me and that I didn't respond so the case was dropped. I decided that for $17 (or $8.50 since I said I'd pay half) it just wasn't worth it anymore and just let it go. The final straw with this company though was when I was going through my fabrics when I was ready for the project I had ordered all the fabric for, and found one was missing. I wasn't sure if I had just not ordered it or if they had forgotten to put it in, so I went to log into my account only to find that they had deleted my entire account. No order history, nothing. That is so extremely petty of them. They're supposed to be a professional company not a vindictive bully! I do NOT recommend this company in ANY capacity for the simple fact that there is a lack of morals and values and absolutely no customer service. This was something that I felt was totally their fault for misrepresenting the fabric, however I had been willing to split the cost of the shipping. But my patronage wasn't worth $8.50 to them. Kind of surprised by these low reviews. I order online all the time from this store. They have great sales! I tend to purchase yardage or panels. Shipping does take awhile but it does everywhere with COVID. I have had one item cut a little funky (yardage) but I trimmed it and moved on. I've also had the wrong item sent to me. None of this really bothers me because it's a one off. Overall, I clearly love this store. They have great quality fabric for excellent prices. I've found sale items for high demand lines that I scoured for elsewhere and couldn't come close to their price. Ex: grunge fabric and Lego construction fabric. read more

Terrible customer service! Made an online order. Received an email a week later saying they couldn't fulfill the 7yd pieven I ordered but did have a 1.25yd and 5.35yd pieces of the same fabric. They asked if I wanted those. Yes. But I asked if I would receive a discount and if shipping would be expedited since they waited a week to ask me about it. I got not answer to those questions(all via email) but did get billed for the new amount. No discount, no expedited shipping. I went to their website and sent a note saying how unhappy I am that they offered nothing for either the issue with the fabric or the longer wait for it. Heard crickets. I'll not shop with them again. For the amount I spent, I expected better communication and service. Apparently they don't value customers. read more

Sale prices are good but 1) it takes FOREVER to get your order filled and 2) you never know if you're going to get what you ordered because their inventory controls are poor (the item may show plenty in stock but by the time they get around to filling your order, it may be gone). If you're willing to wait weeks to get what you want and you don't care if your order is incomplete, go for it. Caution - don't order matching pieces because you probably won't get it (since it'll be out-of-stock by the time they get to you). read more

The selection of stock is always great. Their prices are often better than other fabric stores. However, hancocksofpadudah.com has the worst navigation and worst user interface of all the online fabric stores that I've tried. Their search and sort leaves a lot to be desired as it does not sort down to a match. For example, type in "floral" and you do get florals, but you get all of the other prints put into floral collections, the stripes, plaids, geometrics and textures. When I'm looking for floral prints, all I want to see is floral prints. The navigation that does not got from page to page but rolls all the pages into one long page stalls out a lot and you're stuck waiting and waiting. I love the stock, I love their prices but I do not have all day long to fight the 1980's navigation and search and sort. I shop there when I am looking for something basic that is easier to find quickly. Otherwise I don't have time for their website. read more

I have had very good luck ordering online. Their closeout sales are awesome, easy to search on the website and great prices. My only complaint is the dreadfully slow processing and shipping. In this day and age of online shopping, I'm afraid we've come to expect fast shipping and delivery. Not sure why it takes so long, even after it's been "shipped" it seems to come by way of pony express. If you're in a hurry, buy from fabric.com but the deals are good here on the closeout list. Also, the customer service is very prompt and courteous when I contact them (typically about 'where's my stuff..', Please Hancock, we'd pay a little more for faster shipping I just don't understand it. Update: they have now changed their website format and it's impossible to find anything! I'm pretty internet and online shopping savvy and I can't make heads or tails out of their site anymore. Had a good time last week browsing Hancock's of Paducah - lots to look at! Initially, I headed straight for the precut aisles. I arrived around 2:30pm on a weekday and a lively bunch was in attendance :) The pricing in the precut section is a little bewildering as items aren't clearly marked and there are piles upon piles to sift through, but you'll find some gems :) When I took my items to the cut counter to have them write up a ticket, I wanted to talk to the sales woman to find out exactly how much of each fabric there was. She patiently went through the fabrics telling me how much yardage there was of each and the price. Thank you!! Another sales woman wanted to help her coworker and offered to take half of the fabric to measure and write up a ticket; however, instead of doing this right next to the first sales woman as I thought she would have done, she took the fabric clear down to the far end where I couldn't see or talk to her. Needless to say, I ended up buying too much fabric and my bill was much higher than I hoped - oh well, live & learn! The cashier who checked me out was helpful and explained the store had only recently opened and not everyone was on the same page yet. Hope to be back again some day finding even better bargains!! read more

I wish I had something good to write here; but unfortunately I don't. I travel between Illinois / Tennessee / Florida very regularly. A dozen or more times per year. I always try to plan my travel days so it's not on a Sunday or Monday, when most of the fabric stores along my route are closed. I also make Paducah a planned stop so I can get gas at Sam's Club. During three of most recent visits to Hancock's I've been "slighted" by the staff of the store. I've strolled the store and picked out the items I'd like yardage of....approached the cutting tables....stood nearby waiting for assistance, but when the staff looks around when they become free....and see a MALE standing there with fabric...they act like you are invisible. The first time I was there I had 3 or 4 choices to get cut. An employee 5 feet away looked up...looked a bit shocked when she saw me ..then spun around a few times to see if anyone else was waiting. Another customer was about 3 rows away (15 feet or more)...approaching with a cart full of bolts...and the employee was almost aggressive waving that other customer over to assist them instead.. The most recent time (2/11/2023) I was there looking for border fabric. I found a few things I wanted...approached the cutting tables again...and after standing there waiting....watching employees become available...and watching them walk away or seek out other customers after noticing me standing there .... I put my items back on the shelf (where they belonged) and left. One employee who greeted me as I entered...was in the general vicinity...saw me with my selections...and as I was walking out after putting them back...just stood there looking at me. They're a store with an abundance of employees who suffer from MISANDRY. They won't serve you (men)....or assume that a male standing there with an armful of fabric is a sherpa for a female companion and is just standing there waiting for further instructions. I hope every male who quilts avoids this place due to their practices. Some of the staff needs retraining....or a reality check. PS: I used their websites "contact us" feature to inform them of the issue. I received a generic blanket reply. "My concern would be forwarded to Mr. Hancock". Guess what... I have been fortunate enough to visit this magnificent fabric store on 3 previous occasions. I try to make every trip south go through Paducah so I can shop here. The very first time I came here I could barely breathe I was so excited. I loved it then and I still love it now. My most recent visit was during quilt week when 35,000 quilters descend on this town and the majority also come here. The store was packed and still, the clerks were chipper, funny and efficient. The lines moved quickly and the chaos was somehow organized. I've probably bought a hundred yards of fabric here, 25 yesterday. I love everything I got and the prices were great. If you are a fabric nut, you have to come here. Yes, you have to. So make plans! read more

Ordering online is a nightmare until you understand that all their sale items must be ordered in yard increments. I spent many hours perusing the sale items to order 1/2 yards of about 30 items for a quilt I am making. It wasn't until I had been prompted to add all my shipping and billing information and clicked on "submit order" to tell me one of my items didn't qualify for the yardage I had entered. It did not specify which item. It took me another frustrating hour and finally a phone call to the company to find out it was every item that didn't qualify. Most online fabric companies make it easy for you. If you enter the incorrect amount it won't let you put it into the cart. Hancocks needs to update their ordering system. read more

Buyer Beware! Honesty and customer safety is not valued by Hancocks of Paducah. On a recent trip, I purchased $300 worth of material. On my way home, since I was out of town, I reviewed to make sure I had been charged appropriately. I discovered that I had not been charged for a wall hanging kit. I had purchased it because it was the last one in stock and was marked on sale by a sticker on the sign. It was valued at $60 and I thought it was on sale for about 27. However the cashier did not ring it up. I called the online number and explained the situation. Long story short, it was not on sale and I was charged about $60 on my credit card. I could've easily not called them and gotten it for free but my integrity would not allow me to do so. I felt pressured to purchase the item at the original cost even though I wasn't that crazy about it. I only purchased it because of the sale or so I thought. Once home, I decided I wanted to return the kit. They would not accept the return unless I had approval of Mr. Hancock. He did not want to accept the return despite the fact that I didn't even have to call them to begin with. I could've easily stolen the item from him. He then wanted to charge me a restocking fee of 25%. He made it sound like it was my problem and then I had twisted things around. Once again I reminded him I could've easily stolen it from him by not bring it to his attention. After some arguing, he agreed to take it back but I would have to pay the shipping. I have since decided to keep the item because I don't trust him to get my money back. I also mention the condition of his parking lot. He indicated apparently I hadn't paved anything recently. I am a senior citizen with mobility issues and had to have assistance in the parking lot. One lawsuit, and he will have wished he had paved the parking lot. I would not recommend the shop to anyone The two quilt guilds I belong to will be made aware of the problems I had. However even though he thinks he may have won, he hasn't. My integrity is still in place. But this does not appear to be a business I want to associate with. read more

I placed an online order on 04.20.20. One of three items shipped with the others back ordered. The receipt indicated the back orders would ship 050120. As of today - they have not shipped. I called and was told they were back ordered until August. So as a result, I paid $5.00 shipping for the $7 item I received. I could've purchased that one item at a local store but bought it from them since I was paying shipping for the other items anyway. I canceled the rest of the order. I have always enjoyed working with H of P and their lovely staff. This time I have been trying to order Water Lilies fabric and there is a problem with their computer and will only allow full yard cuts. I have 5 pieces that I only need 1/6 of a yard so realized I would have to order 1/2 yard cuts. Since I now have to go to go to 1 yard it is costing me almost $30 extra. I have been patience but today asked if there was anything they could do to help on pricing. Nothing. Only H of P has the whole line I need and ordering for multiple sites adds multiple shipping charges and ends up making it just as expensive. I don't fault the girls as they are just doing what they are told but since it is a H of P problem, someone higher up should be able to rectify the problem. I've literally ordered thousands of dollars of fabric from Hancocks of Paducah during the pandemic. Delivery times are long but they tell you to expect that so I haven't taken away any stars for that. I have two issues. One is that I order fabrics for a quilt and need all the fabrics for the combination of fabrics I've ordered to work for the planned quilt. Their website will say it is in stock but then they say that it is out of stock after I order it. In one case, I ordered 25 yards that were "in stock" for 3 wedding quilts I'm making. At first, there were delays and then an outright cancellation on the 25 yards that were "in stock" when I ordered them. I've already bought all the other fabric for these 3 king-sized quilts and now I have to find a substitute that coordinates with all the other fabrics in those quilts. It's not an easy job! That is frustrating and possibly leads to waste if I can't find the right fabric to replace it with. The second thing is that when they outright cancel an order they send a "token" with their apology email. But the last two times they've sent the cancellation email with a coupon as a "token" with their apology, the coupon code was bogus. They've sent the same coupon code three times and the coupon code can only be used one time. This last time, I decided to do a big order because of the coupon and spent quite a bit of time looking at fabric. I had over 95 yards in my cart. Then I went to use the coupon code and it didn't work because it was the same one they sent twice last month. I'd be far better off if they hadn't sent the bogus "token" with the apology because I wouldn't have spent all that time looking at fabrics to order. I contacted them last month when they did this (sent the same coupon code after I'd already used it as an apology for another cancelled order) and they didn't make it right. I'm not going to bother writing this time. I'm done. read more
