There's free parking in the lot next to the railroad tracks, so wandering around is a pretty easy and pleasant proposition. Although Nook & Nest features an interesting selection of home goods, I was drawn to the paper, including notebooks and cards from Moglea of Des Moines, and various other brands that would fill anyone's greeting card, writing, listing, habit tracking, and/or planning needs. I'm now stocked up for awhile (and with more than I really need), but when I return to Ames in a few months, who knows?

When I asked if it would arrive by Christmas they said and I quote. I don't know. Well I checked with ups and it won't be delivered until 12-27. Very disappointed. At the time that we went, there were only two variety of apples that were ready for picking. I ended up picking only the one I ate later because I figured I wouldn't be able to pack them in my suitcase, but they've got loads of stuff inside their cute cabin-like shop. I ended up buying a jar of apple butter that I took back home and put on practically everything! Because it was so hot the day we came, we bought some apple cider slushes, really cheap, and delicious! It made walking across the apple groves much more enjoyable. There's lots of shady areas where you can sit down and enjoy your beverage, or just hang out. This farm would be a fun time for the entire family as well.
