After researching several handyman services I found that HandiCo was the best deal around... Not only are they competitively priced, they didn't charge me that "service call fee" that other places would. Andy, the handyman, showed up on time and made me feel very comfortable with him tackling the projects as he gave me his previous work experience and had asked me how I wanted the projects done. A few hours later I had 2 ceiling fans installed and a chandelier as well. I'll be having him back in the next couple of weeks to install tv mounts and an exterior fan on the patio. I called HandiCo, Inc. on Tuesday and they were able to come out to our condo on Wednesday morning. We had a leak from the condo above us and we needed someone to fix the drywall and repaint. HandiCo, Inc. sent Julio out to our condo and he was not only the nicest guy, but he did excellent work. After everything was completed I showed him a few things and asked him how to fix them. Julio went ahead and hung something additional for me in the bathroom and then spackled a patch on our wall for us. We were so happy with his work and overall how friendly he was. Because of a miscommunication from another company we were working with, we need to complete a lot of work on our large walk-in closet (10x10) within a few days. HandiCo was able to quickly re-arrange their schedule and accommodate our 3.5day project. I found all their employees to be very professional and courteous. I felt very comfortable leaving them alone in my home while I was at work. They called whenever a decision needed to be made or if anything was slightly different than planned. Exactly what I expect from a contractor. When I told them I had issues with doors not closing properly because they weren't tight enough on the hinges, they didn't go to extremes that other contractors have in the past that were a lot more expensive. We hired HandiCo to make a variety of repairs to our two flat, and were very pleased with the process and results. Mike was very flexible with scheduling and easy to work with over the phone, and Julio was polite, efficient, did quality work, and cleaned up well upon completion. Repairs performed included: many concrete patches indoors and outdoors, patching and replacing drywall in several rooms, various carpentry repairs, relocating the gas line to a stove and installing a new gas shut off valve, as well as cleaning our gutters and down-spouts. The cost was very fair given the amount of work done, and that we asked HandiCo to acquire all the materials needed so we would not have to worry about purchasing the wrong products. I'm not giving HandiCo 1 star because our actual painter (Tom) was great. We agreed to pay $95/hour to paint our bedroom and two closets -- 700 sq feet in total. They sent one painter. ONE. It took 7 hours + to complete. So, a lot of money in total and we still have half of our apartment to paint. I am incredibly disappointed and angry. If you're looking to use them, do your research and make sure the appropriate # of painters are available. I do not plan on using them again. read more

Handico first worked on my condo a few years ago when the roof was leaking and they repaired the dry wall and painted etc. I was impressed with their work, they were professional, neat and cleaned up when they were done working. No mess. I just used them again today to install 2 window air conditioners in my apartment and Demond did a good job, they are nicely installed and nice to look at, neatly installed. They have a 2 hour minimum and the job was finished in 1 hour. I will use them again. read more

Most importantly they do excellent work both big and small and give you an accurate $ and time estimate that they adhere to. They also are creative and will help come up with a plan to fix your problem that fits your budget. They also warranty certain types of jobs and if something goes wrong they will fix it. While this does not happen often -- it has happened only once and they stood behind their warranty. I highly recommend this professional organization. read more

I'm giving only 2 stars because I was fairly disappointed with the service I received for the price paid. I had them come out to try and fix a leak in the shower in an upstairs bathroom. After about 30 minutes of running water in the shower he observed that as I'd told them some water leaks down into the bathroom downstairs. Rather than fixing anything I was told that the tub that I have installed in the bathroom is the wrong type of tub. As it turns out I was able to caulk the tub and stop the leak after he left. He did rip out some drywall in the bathroom downstairs to see where the water was leaking through and did identify that water was indeed coming from the shower. Of course I was told it would take 4 hours of work to repair the dry wall. I decided to pass on the dry wall repair and hired an independent guy to do it for $100. So final bill, $196. He was there for 45 minutes and I was charged $16 for "supplies" which it was explained to me were the supplies needed to keep the drywall from making a mess on the floor. I'm not sure what supplies cost $16, aren't reusable and are required to keep drywall from messing up a floor. If you are planning to use the full 2 hours and you have a task that is "standard" in that the tech doesn't have to come up with a creative solution these guys might work. Be prepared to pay for some supplies even if no work is actually done. For me $196 is a lot to pay for someone to confirm that the water is indeed leaking from the shower. Personally I'll stick with the independent handy man who changes half the price and is willing to work to solve a problem. read more

Very professional on the phone and in person. I first called HandiCo a couple years ago when we found water leaking into the basement from the ceiling. Rather than take advantage of my panicked state, they suggested that I make a few more calls for estimates as their emergency service may be a bit pricey for what we thought was the problem. Most recently, I had a window that had come off it's support and was dangling perilously out my fourth floor bedroom. When I called the office in the morning, they explained their "emergency" rates were a little bit higher and they had a minimum of 2hrs labor, but would be willing to work something out as they'd have to do the repair in two parts: first securing the window, then fixing the broken part when it came in. Less than an hour later, one of the guys called to say he was on the way. The man could not have been more helpful or friendly when he showed up. He went above and beyond to secure the window and took the broken part back to the office to consult their "window guy" to make sure it was something they could fix. Sure enough, they're able to handle it, ordered the part, and are coming soon to reset the window. Some people have said HandiCo is a little expensive, but I feel it's WELL worth what you're paying for. Their office staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Their service guys are the same. They did a great job and I feel the service was worth every penny. Spend the extra couple of dollars and rest well knowing they're going to get it right the first time and value you as a customer. read more
