SELECTION: A large assortment of baby, toddler and older children onesie's, shorts, bibs and hats compliment unique and hard-to-find toy brands, including wood toys, pillows, books and wall decor. Great gender neutral, feminist, LGBTQ and Iowa items. New items are constantly being added, including local pieces. The space is beautiful, airy and bright. SERVICE: Staff, including owner Macy Krall, are always very helpful and extremely welcoming. I don't have kids myself so it can be hard to pick smart choices. PRICING: Very affordable. There was a general photo of the plant I was purchasing, so I was hoping for the best. I was pleasantly surprised. The sansevieria is a beauty! Much larger and fuller than I anticipated given the price. I asked for specific wrapping and embellishment and the plant turned out perfectly. I initially received a text confirming my order was received. A nice bonus from a small-town, local florist. The text message indicated I would be notified when my plant was delivered. Instead, I heard from the recipient that she'd received the plant. I was waiting on a text that never came, wondering if my order had been delivered. If I had to critique anything, it would be that the text messaging system could be more accurate. A couple of months ago I received a unique Starfish sansevieria from E.'s as a sympathy gift. I wasn't expecting much because most smaller kitchen supply stores don't impress me. I have high standards and prefer well-made high quality products. Well, you can imagine how surprised I was to find this unicorn of a store. I felt like I just walked through a door into wonderland. I thought I owned every kitchen gadget that was worth owning, but I was wrong. I found the cutest baker's dusting wand by OXO and a cool round trivet made of strung-together felted wool balls. They had some of my favorite brands like GIR, Staub, Microplane, Nordic Ware and Opinel. They also had a cool selection of aprons, mugs, spices, oils and vinegars. I was in heaven as I walked through the store. There was so much to look at. They have a well-curated selection of items that I would want to carry if I had my own kitchen supply store. I would much rather support a great locally owned store than a big chain like Williams Sonoma (that doesn't even really carry what I want). Iowa City is so lucky to have a store as wonderful as this. I took a small yellow one to the counter and asked if the size of the plant made a difference in price. They employees didn't think so, but one of them walked back over to the display with me to confirm there were no prices on any of them. Nope, no prices. Returned to the counter and the employees go back and forth about the prices of things... price of the plant, price of the pot (which was overpriced and I never would have bought it had I known they were being sold separately), price of the items together. Huge variety and friendly customer service. Employees didn't seem to know how much the unmarked items were, which bothered me. I paid just under $20 for a 4in Gerbera Daisy in a grow pot. The decorative planter was the bulk of that $20. Confirm prices before you buy. 3/5 stars for lack of transparency (at least on the items I looked at).

I was skeptical of this store when I saw it, expecting it to have things Americans would think are Czech, but that in actuality are not in fact Czech. To my delight, I was wrong! This store had many nice things from the old country. There sold a lot of crystal - drinking glasses, vases, bowl, and even the little crystal animals I would see for sale in Prague. They also had a fair number of the really nice Christmas ornaments that are common in Europe, and they also had a good number of fancily decorated eggs (at least in Germany people would decorate a small Easter tree with these eggs, similar to how we decorate a Christmas tree, but smaller). I talked briefly with an older woman who, by the sound of her accent, I imagine had moved here from the Czech Republic. All in all, I thought this was a delightful store and I would recommend stopping by if you are in the neighborhood.
