I visited this store when exploring downtown Ashland, OR. They sell a lot of cute stuff. I'm so…read moreglad I decided to walk in. The staff is also very nice and friendly. The guy was spending like 10-mins just explaining details about jewelry they sell to a customer who did not want to buy anything just for fun! The lady behind the counter who helped me was super friendly and nice. And she wrapped what I bought with a lot of care. I wish I lived in Ashland and could visit them more often. I bought a few of their beautiful leather bookmarks for myself, but they're going so fast because everyone loves them and wants one! I wish they had things they sell in their store on their website too, so I could order more bookmarks, but sadly that's not the case.

Ashland tends towards the artsy and funky, so this place really stands out as a high-end general store. They have a small assortment of fine wares in several areas: glassware, jewelry, baby items, cosmetics, books and my personal favorite, bon-bons. At every stop I would ooh and aah over something. When I was looking in the children's section they managed to have some of my all time favorites (Ferdinand the Bull and several from the Emberley drawing series). The owner was very friendly and this is their third store with the other two in the Bay Area. Great place to gift shop for a special occasion or just to treat yourself.

Anyway, she was snippy with her after she just spent quite a bit of cash on little cards and trinkets. I found out first hand when I came in and got dirty looks, watched as if I were going to steal greeting cards, and then told not too nicely that I was standing in her way. Geez.

This is the WORST Hallmark store I have ever bought anything at! The owner Jan is rude…read moredisrespectful and rips her customers off. I find it odd that they are still in business! They have no idea how to treat their customers! They over charge you for the items in their store, they double charged me several times in the past and probably times I didn't know about it since I just started checking my receipt when leaving there noticing the large amount they charged me for things I never even bought! The first time I noticed they double charged me I brought it to their attention and they acted embarrassed and refunded the amount. The last time I went in they did it again but with several items and refused to refund my money! Jan actually kept my receipt and said she needed to check on it and would call me which she never did! 4 weeks later I called in since i didn't hear back from her and she said that she couldn't refund me cause nobody remembered double charging me when it was plain as day on my receipt that I was! My advice is take the time to drive to a different Hallmark and shop there! I assure you they will not rip you off or be rude like the ladies here! Shame on you Jan!

Treehouse books is a wonderful little spot especially if you have little ones…read more I've noticed the differences in the books shops around the area. One is more of a wide variety but more modern, Tree house focuses more on kids and young adults, the Book Exchange is more like a library with collections, older , modern, categorized etc. this is a wonderful thing because you can't help but go through all of them. Treehouse does have a wide selection but over all vibe is bring your kids in and there is a flavor of literature for everyone. They are price very well and I was even able to get a replica ring of THE ONE RING ... TO RULE THEM ALL lol . Treehouse is a wonderful spot so don't pass it up.

This charming shop carries a robust selection of books catering mostly to children and the young adult crowd, along with stationery, cards, games, toys, clothing and a lot more surprises, tucked into every nook and cranny! This is the sort of place that is sorely needed in age of instant gratification and digital everything. Tree House Books shows a true appreciation for, and a celebration of, the wonderous analog media that is slowly being replaced by YouTube and emojis. Evocative in its ambiance, spaces like this help revive interest in the stories that are instrumental in producing educated, well-rounded and, most importantly, creative and free-thinking members of society. If you can't tell, Tree House Books really blew me away. There are a lot of bookstores out there, many of them slowly being crushed by the titans of the internet. Fortunately, even the mighty Amazons of the world have no power here. They shall not pass! I observed more than a dozen kids, dragging their parents behind them, fawning over virtually everything in the shop, especially the books. Seeing this filled me with joy, and the hopeful that, because of places like this, that magic still exists. Vivid are the imaginations that pass through these doors, becoming ever richer when they depart once more, hopefully armed with a bookbag full of thrilling tales, legends, and lore, waiting to be devoured by eager eyes and open minds. Five stars is not enough.
