He has great ideas and isn't afraid to tell you if something you want to do isn't necessarily worth the expense (which we very much appreciated). They delivered high-quality work that leveraged their knowledge and expertise to ensure our new space was functional and beautiful. Some things you look for in a general contractor and rarely find are the ability to stay close to budget and timelines, and Jim and his team did both of these! Jim does a thorough of a job putting designs/estimates together, and the only change order we had (that wasn't scope creep on our part) was for some poor electrical a previous owner did that Jim couldn't have anticipated. In addition, Jim keeps your project moving. We rarely went two days without someone at the house making progress on our project; there were no extended delays due to materials or labor issues. Jim and his team also excel at problem solving. Every project has hiccups along the way, but every issue is tackled and Jim won't stop until the solution works for you. As an example, we were having trouble matching the color of some new hardwood floors to older, existing floors in the house. He helped us put down 16 stain samples and promised we would keep trying until we got it right (and we finally did!). It was very clear our happiness was extremely important to him. If you are looking for a contractor who is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, efficient, affordable, and fun to work with, Independent Remodeling is who you should work with. It's hard to find a company you would want to use a second time, but Jim will be the first person we call for future projects in our house, and who we will recommend to friends and family if they are looking to complete a project in their home.

The second was the completion of a finished basement. Both times we wound up with rooms that were literally magazine worthy. It isn't often a guest will walk into a room and say, "Wow!" but that's what Chad and B&C achieved both times. I knew we were in the right hands from the moment I met Chad. He is pleasant, professional, very knowledgeable, confident, and detail oriented. Those are all the attributes of an outstanding general contractor. I called them some years ego, and told them about my driveway falling a part. they send someone to check it. we ware told that it is falling a part because I am using salt ( like I am should use sugar?) Street was done in the same time, we have heavy trucks plows and salt put on it and it still looks good. I have other places where I have a concrete twice as old and it looks good. The work it self looked good but he materials that they used (that I paid extra for) ware not what I paid for.
