Worst customer service ever! I called to place a simple breakfast order. The man who answered immediately told me I have to pay over the phone for an order called in...ummm ok... not a problem, but he said it with a nasty attitude. I give him my order, it came to $7.33. Definitely not a bad price. He takes my card info over the phone, but obviously got a number wrong and says "it declined" with again, a nasty attitude. I said ok you must have gotten a number wrong so I'll give it to you again (my banking app will tell me the moment a transaction is attempted, declines, or occurs, and nothing came up so he typed the card number in wrong) but he loudly sighed and just handed the phone over to a girl. I guess it was too much to ask to have him do it again because he's SOOOO BUSY. I canceled the order at that point and told her the service sucks and hung up. There's PLENTY of money in that account. I work in the area, and we used to order there at least twice a week, usually $30-$50 orders each time. Now you lost business because you were too impatient to take a moment to help a customer. The most unfriendly and grumpy staff each time I have gone inside. They never great you with a smile yet, they have a sign saying they will crack an egg if you smile. Perhaps they should crack the smile first and start greeting customers and acknowledge them when they are present at counter. Perhaps if they did that then the customers would smile back. Not sure what happened to the staff that used to be very nice. Over the last 8 months it has gone down hill big time. Just remember if your are grumpy and unfriendly then your customers will be grumpy and unfriendly back. read more

I've lived in Coram for about six months now and this Handy Pantry has become my go to spot for all my sundries. It's clean, the staff is friendly and attentive and the food is always fresh. They have a nice selection of fresh vegetables daily and even provide vegan fare. I stopped by today with my daughter to grab some fries to go. Sadly they weren't ready yet much to my daughters dismay. JP IMMEDIATELY, asked my address and offered to drop them off. I repeat, he offered to drop them off. This is not grub hub or Uber eats. I came to this spot today at 10:29 pm. Asked for a sandwich they looked at me like i was crazy . We close the deli at 10:30 one says. I said well it's 10:29 and they flat out told me no. Honestly never liked this handy pantry because it looks dirty and the staff doesn't seem like they want to be there at all but today really blew it. I went in there for 3 sandwiches and a couple drinks and chips. I put the first sandwich order in and the man making it had his mask on like chin strap, not covering his mouth or nose and a women also behind the deli counter had her mask pulled down below her nose and sneezed right into her hand. They used to be OK for odds and ends you need in a pinch. It took forever to get a deli order filled. I noticed some time back that their milk soured in a couple of days following its purchase (even before the last date of sale on the container), and their cold cuts started spoiling almost immediately. I come here quite often for egg sandwiches before work since I work right down the road, but after today's experience I will no longer come here. I ordered my normal egg sandwich and went to get a drink since I need to spend over $5 to use my card. I picked out a drink and the girl behind the register wasn't sure how much it was, so she asked a lady who I see there every time I go, I will call her the "manager". She said it was a certain price, I told the cashier that the shelf states a different price. The "manager" argued and very rudely states the price again and said it must be on the wrong shelf. I went back to the cooler in which I got the drink and checked a second time. Again it states the lower price along with the name of the drink and the size (12 fl oz). I went back up and the "manger" refused to accept that. She stormed to the back of the store and checked the price herself and then stormed back up front without saying a word or even looking at me until behind the counter. Once behind the counter she shouted "Just give it to him!! Unbelievable!!!" Instead of just admitting she was wrong or made a mistake she just talked down to me. I went in here at 7 a.m to get breakfast and buy 3 beers, the man working behind the counter looked at me and my boyfriend like we were crazy, asked for I'D, gave him my Passport, told me it wasn't going to work so I went and got my Florida ID, he than laughed as he scanned it and told me it came up as "invalid and proceeded to say to me And my boyfriend "I bet these look real tasty to you guys right now too." I used to come here all of the time, I loved the tuna salad. I don't usually write reviews, but I had such a bad experience that I decided to come look at the reviews. I went on a Wednesday around 2:45. The same exact thing happened to me that happened to foodie, lol. This must happen a lot. I was waiting at one register 2 people went to the other as I was waiting. When the lady came over she started going directly to the other register, I said " I'm next". She said rather nastily " I'm on this register". Instead of waiting for me to get over there, she started ringing up other customers. I said " I should leave this all right here ". She was giving me the evil eye and fighting with me while she was helping the 2 people in front of me. Someone came and stood at the other register and I told him, "just so you know that register is closed". The lady started yelling at me. "That's not true, someone could come over at anytime". Someone did indeed come over a few minutes later and said next customer, she said "happy now" ? I said " yes, very", thats the way it is done.
