These stables are like no other with the rescue horses they use to ride off-trail, absent of nose to tail riding, at a pace you'd like, and the lead wrangler and his assistant wrangler will ride alongside you. I like 'em so much I've become a regular student of theirs too. Recently, I felt 4 hours of springtime riding converted me into an upcoming female wrangler after having experienced the following: * their newly-discovered oasis in the desert near the Sonoran Desert National Monument where our horses were in paradise ensconced by plenty of green grass and freedom to drink from a pond * involvement in a search and rescue mission to find a mule that separated itself from its cowboy wrangler; and * a half-leg full of jumping cholla that my cowboy boot took a good majority of, thank heavens, but I was spared further agony when the lead wrangler removed 'em with his long-nose pliers. If I'm ever going to have a horse of my own, I most certainly would board it with them as well. Just 45 minutes from home I almost feel I own one already each time I'm out there riding. Places like this are hard to find these days, because I feel it won't be long before there'll be a Burger King with all that open space out there. That's why I feel I've got to make the most of it while I can.

My husband and I paid for an hour lesson/ride and after taking an hour to set up the horses, we rode for a full hour. We came back a couple days later and paid for two hours - Steve, our wrangler, brought along a second wrangler for the sole purpose of carrying our camera for us and getting FABULOUS shots of us riding through the desert. No trails - just a leisurely ride through the cactus and hills. The price was less than half what we were quoted by other stables and I can't imagine a better experience. I learn something every time we go. I should also mention... my husband has a fear of horses, but after these two rides, he is eager to ride again. I don't have a fear of horses, and I CAN'T WAIT to ride again! It's a pretty good drive, but is TOTALLY worth it.

I was surprised, it was a large area to hike. The Bureau of Land Management manages this area. Camping overnight, off-road vehicles, and dispersed camping are allowed. Additionally, you can camp with an RV, trailer, or car for fourteen days. Make sure to check - www.blm.gov for more information about recreation use.

This park is very desolate and isolated but located off 2 major Arizona highways.... Highway 84…read morethat turns into 347 and Highway 8 that is located south of Phoenix. Apparently it is 160 acres of walking, hiking and RV camping.... Not too much available but I am sure the nightsky is beautiful as there didnt seem to be much lights throught the park. Unfortunately we didn't see any area for checkin or a station for an employee, no signs other than at the entrance. However according to camping websites you can stay as cheap as $10 a night depending on the camp site size and up to $35 a night that includes 4 RVs and a grill. It appears that there is a maximum of a 14 day stay.

A morning of high flying action!…read more Where to begin?! So travelled down to Maricopa on a Groupon. Not really sure what to expect as you pull up to a small hanger near the local airfield. Started small talk with the other people waiting until our instructor Mo showed up. First thing out of his van was beautiful happy golden retriever named Rosa. She just helped set the mood for the rest of the morning. Mo was very friendly and informative. He was very quick with getting all the paperwork out of the way so we could get straight to the action. So easy to sign your life away on a waiver, right?! Continued out to the airstrip to watch Mo get all the equipment set as we sat around with intros and watching Rosa's energy. Quick set of safety instructions and the first person strapped in and was off the ground in minutes. Not that a dog should be the highlight of the flying experience, but Rosa was so excited to watch help set up and chase you down the airstrip. I would say she made the entire experience 30% better. Everyone walked away extremely elated with the experience. Mo was very professional and just a fun overall person to be around. We ended up tipping to basically make up the difference of the discounted Groupon. Well worth the full price of the ride. (You'll read in all my reviews that I big supporter of local businesses) Biggest tip...bring a warm jacket and gloves!

In fact in agreement with Archangel companies I have steel targets at many distances including those out to two miles. Reservations give instructors exclusive use of the range for a private setting. We choose a beautiful little girl who grew up to be our favorite pet ever. Her father was Jake and I can't recall her mom. She is a beautiful red with some tan, black, and silver mixed in. She is intelligent, playful, and a great gentle playmate of her tiny Chihuahua brother.. She is a great family pet who looks intimidating but tail wagging gives her away as a sweetie. Loves water and balls! Considering purchasing another male puppy to add to the pack. Would definitely use Desert Mountain again.
