I had the unfortunate opportunity to meet and speak with a front desk registrar named Julie Brown. I explained to Ms. Julie Brown that I spoke to the other registrar, Ms. Denise and that Ms. Denise was kind enough to waive the fee for the Transcripts ($5) and Diploma ($20). Julie Brown in the most condescending and disrespectful way told us, "well you can stand here I get off at 3:30. All of the registrars will make you pay." I asked if she would call Ms. Denise and she snatched the phone up and with a loud sigh and gigantic eye rolling called on the PA for Ms. Denise. Ms. Denise did confirm that they would wave the ($20) for the diploma but would still need to pay ($5) for the official transcripts. I proceeded to pay her with a twenty dollar bill and Julie Brown said, "I don't have any change and we only except exact amounts. You can get change at the liquor store down the street but I'm leaving in 15 min." I said ok and proceeded outside to the car. Upon leaving a family approached me and spoke with me about how disrespectful Julie Brown had been to me and thanked me for my service. I am utterly shocked at how horrible she was to me and this young man. I have no idea if she's having a bad day...but I pray she isn't like this to the kids or families that attend this school. The faculty should take measures to reeducate Ms. Julie Brown on customer service and communication behavior.

Over the past 2 years what we have encountered in this school is troublesome. We have a teacher who calls the students stupid. Not to their faces, to other students! What a shining example for Ms the Newspaper/Yearbook and English teacher to set. One history teacher is not competent in a lot of his so called teachings as a history teacher. He even proceeded to argue with my child repeatedly over a political issue. He was giving the class misinformation. My daughter pulled up the accurate info, the info she was providing. The teacher simply stopped arguing but never apologized to the class or admitted to them he was wrong. This teacher promotes illegal immigration in the classroom. The office staff is not competent, they loose paperwork that students are required to turn in. This causes a lot of issues with grading, not only for the students but the teachers as well. A 9th grade English teacher does not allow students to turn in work late, even when they are sick and have been to the hospital over an illness. I find this unreasonable. How is a student who is that sick supposed to do their school work on time and be there to turn it in? One of the PE teachers likes to do female students hair and makeup during class time. This is not professional and it is not doing the job she is paid for. The students she does hair and makeup for are excused from playing sports in PE and they pass with an A. From what has been witnessed it is only the girls who are Hispanic that receive this attention and excuse from participating in PE. When the dance coach told my daughter to drop down like a whore for a dance move I was disgusted. I had to fight with the school to obtain a refund for the $500 fee for being on the dance team. I was originally excited for my daughter to attend this school. I was thinking this would be a great educational opportunity. I sadly see that I was mistaken. If you ever consider buying ad space in the school paper or yearbook think twice about it. We have had nothing but trouble and threats over it. A refusal to place the ad we want and refusal to refund the money we spent on the ad space.

She also has a strong speech impediment, and as she got older, she started to notice the gap between herself and her classmates. It began to take a real toll on her confidence. As a mom, it was heartbreaking to watch. But everything changed this past school year, her final year in 5th grade, when we enrolled her in the ELOP after school program with Scholarly Minds. This program didn't just keep her busy after school. It challenged her with attainable goals, built her up, and helped her see herself in a new light. Slowly, a new Tiresa began to emerge, one who was proud of herself, confident in what she could do, and willing to try new things. She won multiple awards, grew more independent, and even told us herself that this was her best year ever at school. That moment brought tears to my eyes. To Ms. Melissa and the entire ELOP/Scholarly Minds team: THANK YOU. Thank you for seeing the greatness in my daughter when she couldn't see it herself. Thank you for cheering her on, literally and figuratively. At the graduation ceremony, I kept hearing loud applause and joyful shouting from behind me every time one of the ELOP students walked the stage. When I turned around, I realized it was Ms. Melissa's team, cheering as if every student were their own child. That moment said everything about who they are. You didn't just change my daughter's academic path, you helped rebuild her spirit. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making such a beautiful difference in my daughter's life.

I don't understand why my kids didn't sit with each other on the bus. The student that was picking on my daughter lied that he was a first grader and. Kept sitting next to her on the bus. They sit by age. Smaller in the front older in the back. So if that's the case her other brother that's the same age as her, why weren't they able to sit together. I didn't feel like this school did enough about the situation. The only on that kept in contact with me was my daughter teacher. The student that was picking with her was in my other son class in third grade. I can go on and on about how many things went wrong. That's not the only case. Someone of the teachers Favorite other kids and judge them right away as well as keeping them separate it I feel like some of them are really racist and kept in their old-school ways. As well as some of the teachers thing sarcastic things to the students not just to my kids but I hear it to other kids as well. And some of the staffing that watch the kids on their lunch hour are rude and maybe should just retire , already since they have no patients. Being a teacher and working at a school takes Patients, understanding and care for others. It's not just a pay check of another day. Matter affect, just another student.
