My son has been going to this school for 2 years. We transferred from South OC, and we love it here. Mrs. Gooding, the principal, has always been so kind and easy to talk to. My child has an IEP and they have been very accommodating. The staff in the office are very friendly. This shows me that they enjoy working there. The Aces we've met have been so helpful. Bear River Student Center is AMAZING! The staff is incredibly helpful and the teachers go over beyond to help their students. The teachers are very responsive and keep parents informed. The kids have awesome field trips through out the year and there is a genuine effort to offer fun and exciting activities for the kids and parents alike. Bear River Student Center is an amazing school that focuses on truly teaching our kids and not just test taking. The curriculum is wonderful and so are the staff. Horrible environment treat your kids like babys counselor said the N-word and got the student in trouble that tried to report her does not understand and only thinks one way is right and has horrible things called claws that they use for no reason my daughter switched shoes with one of her friends who I was OK with and some nugget looking ace gave her a claw this is a horrendous overall I do not recommend this school unless you want your kid to be sexually hunted and wrongfully accused for things they did not did and be raised in a horrible environment. Please do not take them here. They're treated like babies not actual kids. Bear River Student Center in Menifee is the greatest school in the area. It's so family oriented and a great small community school.

If you like horrible communication and your child's teacher being changed 7 times in one year then is school would be great for you.

This school is so great.The staff as well as the teachers go above and beyond.My son went to elementary school in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District.We moved to Canyon Hills and I didn't want to put him in a new school so I home schooled him but he was getting lonely being the only child so I enrolled at Bear River because it was a smaller setting than the public elementary.He has been so happy and being on the Autism spectrum this school has done so much for him. The staff really is on top of everything. I highly recommend this school if your able to get in. read more

Highly disappointed in the staff. My 6 year old was told by a teacher she would pick her to be a part of her class for the next school year. When teachers were assigned we were surprised to find out she wasn't in her class. I asked the administration and they said they "couldn't" do anything about it. My poor girl cried and still says why didn't she pick me? I sent an email to the teacher and no response. After the first day of school my daughter told me one of the kids from her class was transferred to her class. She could have made everything right and chose not too. I would always recommend Bear River to everyone and talk highly of the school. Now I will just not say anything when friends or people ask in the community. read more

Overall bad school. Kids there weren't nice and the teachers didn't seem to care. It almost seemed like there were no rules. Along with this some of the middle school teachers show extreme bias towards other students as they are given punishments more often than others who do the exact same thing. I honestly have no idea why any parent likes this school, though the teachers are nice and it does have the feel of keeping kids sheltered. My daughter has been attending for a few years now, and just started middle school there. The middle school program only covers four subjects, Math, History, Science and ELA, and there are no electives. If she wants to do any electives she has to sign up for an after school program, which is crazy to me. Local public middle schools have music, wood-shop, art, theater, all kinds of things available as part of their normal school day. Also, for kids who are ahead and for example complete fifth grade math early in the fifth grade year, instead of letting them work ahead they have to keep redoing fifth grade math and start back at the beginning , so there is zero challenge or individualized attention for advanced children. Their communication is also ridiculous, my husband has called the school every month for the last three years and still has not been put on their email list so he doesn't receive any school announcements or info. I feel like my daughter will be completely unprepared for high school. read more

0 star! Better yet -10 star!!! Today my son was left outside by himself in the parking lot outside of the gate. I told him before I dropped him off this morning to email me if there is no basketball practice today so I can pick him up early. He spoke to Ms Strachan, Ms Rose and Mr E. Mr E said he was too busy to email me but he wrote it in a sticky to remind himself to email me...didn't happen. I came to school early (4pm) to watch my son practice only to find him standing in the parking lot near the street waiting for me. No adult or staff nearby. What happened there? You have staff over there controlling the traffic every single school day during pickup? They didn't even do anything? Mr E can't even email me because he was too busy? An email can only take a minute or two just to let me know that there's no practice today. How hard is that? If you don't want an email, call me - it'll be much quicker!!! What the hell is wrong with this school? I complained about this last week as they like to send late notification. I told Ms Strachan to forward my complaint to the principal last week. Did the principal respond??? NO!!! NOT A CALL...NOT A SINGLE EMAIL FROM HIM. AND HE LEFT EARLY TODAY SO I HAD TO SPEAK TO THE VICE PRINCIPAL! How can you let a student be by himself outside???? How stupid can you all get???? This is not the first problem I had with this school. But this time, I am going to speak up and file a formal complaint! Either you all fix yourself and reprimand all these people or I can escalate this legally and let the law takeover! Being disappointed and frustrated is an understatement! If you see a student outside by himself or herself, why don't you talk to him or her and bring him/her inside and call his/her parents? Is that too hard to do too? It's not rocket science!!! Do I need to spoon feed the staff here so they'll know what to do and how to do their job right? This is unacceptable!!! ***I left a Google review and Facebook review months ago and guess what, it got removed so people will only see the "good reviews".*** ***Lindsey Robson sent an email last week that the practice is daily from 330pm-430pm for two weeks. She said "daily". Last Friday, she sent an email around noon to say that they don't have a practice. I made adjustments and complained but again, nothing happened. Now, exactly a week after, no notices or whatsoever from the school. Ms Robson has a reputation of sending inaccurate emails ALL THE TIME!!! WHY DON'T YOU CHECK AND VERIFY BEFORE SENDING AN EMAIL BLAST???? IS THAT HARD TO DO? You all are getting paid to do your job right. Bear Springs has been a great choice for us. The staff is so kind and helpful. There is a real "open door" policy here. The Principal, VP and staff are available and willing to help with any concerns. Students get individual attention and lots of resources both at school and online. This school has a more "hands-on" type learning style compared to public school. Plus, there are so much more opportunities for extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports and field trips. The school really works hard to accommodate parents' schedules. Probably the thing I love most about Bear Springs is student behavior. There is zero-tolerance for bullying and bad behavior. The Principal and VP are very helpful in dealing with any situations. I have noticed that the student atmosphere at Bear Springs is much more accepting and supportive than I've seen at other schools. And the most important part ... my kids love it! They get up happy each morning, ready to go to school. read more

My daughter started school here this past September. We moved from another county and she was attending a private school prior to coming here. Well first we tried to look around for a private school but didn't have much luck finding one that was a good fit or close enough. We then had no choice but to send her to the local public school. Well she didn't like it too much and neither did we. It was very overcrowded, not enough individual focus on the students, and staff and teachers did not seem to friendly or helpful. Well, then we were informed about Bear River by a family member who works there. We decided to give it a try. Our daughter is thriving. She told us that she loves school. The teachers and staff really make an effort to see each individual student thrive. No one is left behind as they work hard to meet each student's individual needs. Our students are not just a number at this school. They have zero tolerance for bullying. My daughter has brought home worksheets on how to treat others, how to be kind and helpful and about bullying and how it's wrong. One of my daughters complaints from her short experience at the previous public school was the bullying and rude or mean children and staff. She said that her new school doesn't tolerate that behavior. They are taught to be respectful and kind to one another. My child feels safe and secure at this school and she is receiving a great education from caring and compassionate teachers and staff. All teachers and staff have answered and/or responded to any questions and concerns I have had. I feel like they want us to be content with their school. The principal is a caring, down to earth man who's main concern is the children. This school isn't only about great academics and achievements but also about a good emotional atmosphere. They are big on safety and security. They offer many choices of electives and after school clubs and sports. They have many fun school spirit days. I truly feel blessed to have found this school. It may not be what we were initially looking for but it turned out to be a great choice for our child and family. read more

Sadly there's no where for the children to eat lunch yet. Small and unfinished. Can't see it from the main road. Felt like I was walking out the backdoor while entering the main building. I will say that this site is much better than the Murrieta site BECAUSE of the caring teachers .The teachers here are amazing and seem to really care about the kids . The special ed teachers are also amazing and try hard to make every accommodation they can for the children who need help even with the ridiculous case load they have which needs desperately to be addressed with the sped dept .These teachers who work with the sped kids are over worked and need assistance / funds to hire more aides or teachers . Doesn't seem that school administrators really wanna help children with special needs. That just means us as parents need to advocate and fight for our children to make sure they are getting their needed services go get advocates or an attorney I guarantee you they will listen to you then. Parents fight and advocate and educate yourself on the laws it's your child's right to have an appropriate education. I as you can tell am not well liked by administrators and am sure I'm called a trouble maker by them but... I'm not also there to make friends so I really don't care. ‍ The teachers who know what kind of a mother I am and know my children and the advocate I am love me and respect me ! Since I'm reviewing this school and the administrators running it The principal at this Menifee site is a piece of work and so oblivious to the goings on at this school and so are his "FRIENDS" that we're hired to work with him . I don't know how they pay some of the staff when clearly they do nothing! As I have heard from many staff that do not like the situation or the favoritism given to these individuals as they feel they do NOTHING to earn a paycheck! This is Money that could be spent elsewhere! Are they working or having play time coffee /donut hour?They seem to be to busy going to lunch with co workers/friends ? Is that what my tax dollars are paying for ? The principal doesn't return phone calls . I don't know if his secretary is to blame for not giving him his messages as I have read my calls are not the only one's he's NOT returning! He seems to care more about his buddies than the bullying that happens at the school to children .I have personally had to go to the school and deal with the bullying myself multiple times as it was NOT being dealt with by the administration! And I am a mama Bear so trust me I don't put up with anything period as I let my mouth go . But then I get a letter sent certified to my home stating I should not be on school grounds harassing his staff who I most definitely confronted who lied and said he had to escort me off school grounds !Deal with your crap and I wouldn't have to!! You took time to draft a letter time wasted that could have been better spent dealing with the issues at hand . I don't know maybe return a phone call?To the Parents who didn't like me on campus speaking about their son to teachers /students and explaining how he needs to stay away from my daughter and to stop asking my special needs daughter if she knew what head was , hitting her metal water bottle off her desk ,asking her if she is stupid or something , and why are you so short and on and on . Deal with your child or call me so I can tell you what a horrible job your doing as a parent I promise you I won't be as respectful as my daughter was . BTW heard this child was disruptive to multiple classes and that he was a problem student to begin with! So no it's not just a protective mom ranting . Either way figure your out ! The teachers have been super amazing to my children and are very accommodating , loving and supportive of them that is the ONLY reason I stay here they really seem to care!! I have noticed alot of parents at this school seem to be blind to how their children act and continue enabling their children's actions .IE:Bullying,the way they talk to adults/teachers,and their actions in class. Respect and discipline is something that obviously is not taught to children at home anymore . As I have had multiple teachers complain to me about the lack of support they have from parents! Hard to discipline and set boundaries for kids when their parents don't follow through and instead of supporting the teacher enable their child's bad behavior . So tired of Children being made to feel entitled by parents . What is this world coming to ? I gave 5 stars for the teachers NOT the administration! I wanna thank them for their hard work and putting up with the crap they have to put up with ! And to let them know That There are still parents out here who see what you do ,appreciate you and know what you have to deal with in the classroom environment! I don't envy you at all ! I was super happy to find a school all of my 3 children could attend, since the school ranges from Kinder to 8th grade. This school is fairly new and still ironing out wrinkles but overall we had an excellent experience last year. My children were involved in so many activities, and sports, they loved it! The first time we had an issue with a staff member it was handled immediately and efficiently. The rest of the staff has always been so sweet and caring.
