I have been meaning to write this for a over a month now. After researching online and doing some…read moreserious leg work to many New Orleans antique jewelry stores my now fiance and I went to Anton Ltd. to see what they had to offer and compare it to what else I had seen. I had had discouraging results elsewhere, one woman in the French Quarter had actually laughed at my budget, and I was afraid that a ring of my taste was going to be impossible. I entered feeling rather discouraged. I shouldn't have. When we showed up up The owner was busy helping a client with jewelry that her husband had purchased for her in 1980. Yes, 33 years ago. Another client had known him for many years. This was encouraging, but nerve wracking, with this kind of customer service would he laugh at my budget as well? But no, he was the one jeweler that actually listened to my needs, limitations, and took the time to review my pinterest board of ring styles to find exactly what I wanted. We went through many of his rings, I am not infatuated with typical engagement rings, and the one that I decided on seems more beautiful everyday that I am lucky enough to wear it. The owner is an absolute gentleman, truly considerate of his guests comfort. I did not make an appointment, but would encourage anyone seeking his services to do so as his complete attention is a blessing. He only sells the most lovely of antique and estate jewelry, not the same poorly crafted pieces that all of your friends have. If you are desperately searching for something unique I recommend Anton Ltd. highly.

Each piece comes with an professional appraisal - something that not many Etsy stores offer at no cost and if you do it on your own, often times you're looking at charges from $50-150 hourly to flat rate fees. They were gracious in working on a layaway contract with me, keeping in constant contact with me, even through the breakout of COVID-19 in their area. Once I had paid off my ring, they had informed me of their local quarantine lock down situation but I was happy to be patient for my ring. Even through all of that, their office manager still found a way to ship my ring out across the States to me. Their packaging, while me being eco-conscious did wince at the idea, ensured the protection of my ring as (they encased it in it's own jewelry box, then bubble wrap, then multiple cardboard boxes - they'll all be recycled!) it spent many miles flying over the Pacific Ocean. As I opened the ring box, the diamonds sparkled beautifully and the gold bands were so shiny. I'm very happy with my purchase, now I just need to remember to insure this baby! I'm lucky I have all the time in the world now to stay at home in quarantine and just admire my ring all day! TL:DR: This team treats you like family - with honesty, integrity and the utmost care in your next heirloom purchase. But don't buy all the pretty ones from them... leave the good stuff for me!

At Christmas time, I picked up a magazine that featured a pendant from Ron Jewelers. I visited the…read morestore on December 18, 2021. I was helped by Alexis who was professional and courteous. I really wanted the pendant, and was quoted a price and told that it would arrive before Christmas. I accepted the price, but then was asked to pay up front. Without thinking about that clearly, I agreed and paid. I wasn't that worried about it because I was told that I would have the pendant in a few days. Alexis was kind of pushy about leaving a review, and texted me after I had left the store to request one. I did leave a positive review at that time. Two days later is when things started to go sour. Alexis called me on Monday to tell me that the piece would not be in by Christmas, and could take as long as eight weeks. She said that if I didn't want to wait that long, I could get a store credit and choose something else. I explained that I wanted the pendant, not something else, and if they couldn't produce the pendant, I needed a refund not a store credit. She offered me some stud earrings for my trouble, and again I had to reiterate that I either needed the pendant or I needed a refund because that's what we were contracted for. She again told me that the pendant would definitely be in within the eight weeks, so without any real recourse I decided to wait. I also did not accept the stud earrings, because that would have been an acceptance of something of value other than the pendant. Approaching eight weeks, I got a text message from Ron Jewelers asking me to leave another positive review on Yelp. I texted back that I would wait to leave a review until I actually received the pendant. I then got another call from a sales associate other than Alexis. We had another conversation about the pendant, and was told that if I wasn't happy I could get a store credit and have some stud earrings for my trouble. I again explained that we were contracted for the pendant and that I would not accept a store credit. I either needed the pendant or I needed a refund. I explained that this isn't covered by the return policy. I wasn't returning anything. I hadn't received anything in the first place. She says she has to talk to the owner, and then call me back. She does call me back, and tells me that the return policy is on every receipt. She also tells me that the pendant will take another few weeks. At this point it becomes pretty clear to me that I'm not going to get the pendant, and the best Ron Jewelers is going to do is give me a $2,700 store credit. I asked that the owner call me, but the owner never called me. After a few more days, given my lack of faith in this transaction and the fact that I had been lied to at least twice, I consulted my attorney. At this point I was expecting to have to file a lawsuit. My attorney took the time to tell me that I should never pay for jewelry without seeing it first and being able to take immediate delivery. Well, thanks for that, but it's a little late now. He then instructed me that before filing a lawsuit I should file a charge-back with my credit card company for non-delivery of merchandise, which I did. The credit card company took my information and told me they would contact the merchant for their side of the story. A day later, someone from Ron Jewelers calls me to tell me that now they have the pendant. That seems a fine coincidence to me, so I again consulted my attorney who told me that I was not under any obligation to receive anything from Ron Jewelers and that I should leave it with the credit card company to handle. I followed this advice and successfully received a refund. I have now made two new life rules for myself: 1. I will not pay for jewelry without seeing it first and being able to take immediate delivery. 2. I will not do business with Ron Jewelers. I feel like all of this could have been avoided if the owner would have called me and had a conversation with me and dealt with me in good faith, but that never happened.
