Usually I'd give a 4 star rating, but there was a very interesting occurrence regarding a rooster at this location. A man brought in a very small rooster that he found on his porch. (somebody likely abandoned it) So he brought it here. When they tried to grab it, the rooster was able to dodge the employee's hands, and run amuck in the store. They managed to get the rooster, and I got a good look at him. I talked to the woman who was holding the rooster, and learned that he was a Bantam, which is a very small rooster. read more

Great customer service! We visited this shop for cowboy boots, and boy, was there a great selection (especially for the part of the country we live in). The salesgirl was fantastic, attentive, and very concerned with us leaving happy with our choices. I recommend this place for sure. read more

I'm one of those crazy people who makes a resolution and then sticks with it. Like when I hung up the phone after speaking with Pet Supplies "Plus" a few months ago and vowing I would never go there again after they lost a special order 3 times and then basically told me too bad -- even though my chinchillas were now out of food... just thinking about it gets me fired up. So now I was in a bind. If I can't special order through those guys, where was I going to get my chinchilla food? Heck - where was I going to go for my DOGS food because the megastores sure doesn't carry anything I'd elect to feed them. To make matters worse, I'd moved out of the city and into the southern burbs of Boston - which is to say I moved into a comparative waste land. Well... I went internet hunting and guess what I found? Just the best freakin' place on earth!! Ok - well maybe not THE best, I think you have to be a pet owner, a farmer, a horse enthusiast, or someone who just really loves cowboy boots to really get this place, but it's definitely worth the drive. A drive that for me is an extra (but totally worth it) 20 minutes in the car. From what I can tell they only sell top level and hard to find pet foods and supplies at prices that put the big box pet mega-marts to shame. If it's time to feed Fido or Fluffy (or Chinchilla, G-Pig or horse for that matter), you have to go here. read more

I was totally incorrect....this place was not the place my mother and I initially went to to purchase chicks... However I have visited this location, it is a great store with super friendly staff and I will return to make any and all of my future purchases here!!!! I had mistaken the store with another store and incorrectly gave a negative review. I am apologizing for doing so moreover I was contacted by an awesome associate who was more than willing to try to help me rectify what she thought was an issue I had with her store and turns out it wasn't her location at all!!! The Hanson Grain is a great store for pet supplies, but i'm really concerned for the rabbits there. There are usually about 5-10 rabbits at the store and they are all in extremely small cages. If they knew how to PROPERLY take care of bunnies they would know bunnies should not be kept in cages their whole life. Some of the bunnies are put in new cages every once and a while but some of them stay in the same cage for months, I hope they at least get out when the store closes. Also I've never seen the bunnies eating vegetables! (Greens like spinach are 15% of a rabbits diet.) But what concerns me the most is that the rabbits there have very little hay, hay is 80% of a rabbits diet. If rabbits don't get enough hay they can die!!!!!!! And they are even promoting this horrible rabbit care to their customers. read more

Nice place for specialty pet supplies and dog food that is hard to find. My kids like to visit the animals in the store. The only negative about this store is the staff. The two women working at the counter were so unfriendly. They acted like we were bothering them when we went to check out. Even when my kids asked a question about the rabbits, they were so rude. I feel like we would go back here often in the people working here were more friendly. But we would rather spend our money in a place that welcomes all people. read more

Worst customer service I have experienced in a while due to lack of engagement. Most of the employees are young girls who can't put their cell phones down long enough to acknowledge someone. I stood in line for 10 minutes while one girl was handling all the customers and another one was at the counter glued to her phone. I'm not sure how this place stays in business, there are plenty of other places to shop with better prices and friendlier staff. read more

we come here a few times a year...usually in spring so the kids can see the new chicks, this place is clean and organized. Plenty of stuff for horse enthusiansts and the help is attentative...some one complained here on yelp that they sell rabbits and should feel shame. read more

Pretty well stocked. Prices on the higher side but not outrageous. Some of the staff are friendly. Kids working out back are great. Hay way too dusty for my animals. Hope that poor rabbit gets to stretch his legs after the store closes. read more

We love Hanson Grain! Always helpful and stocked with quality products. I did some research and found they have the CHEAPEST HAY out of the local grain stores (Bridgewater, Ventura etc) They also have the cutest belts and western boots. To whoever put them on blast for selling rabbits obviously didn't take into account that they rescue and adopt out homeless dogs and have probably done the same for rabbits. read more

From the moment I entered the shop I felt like a priority. The people working here actually know animals, not just a few fun facts about the pet food they sell. HUGE selection of Dog food with lifestyle, body size, and specific needs in mind. The employees engage you in conversation and ask about your pet, your yard, etc to get an idea of what they might need. Not only are they great resources of information, but they are super-helpful (even helped me carry things to my truck). I have purchased everything from Lawn and garden fertilizer and seed to baby chicks. Great spot to take kids - they have literature, baby rabbits, and sometimes chickens and pigs. there is always a huge selection of products for all animals. very knowledgeable staff. as for the review about the rabbits...most are store pets, some are sold, but in many cases, the store is trying to help owners find new homes for their rabbits when they can no longer care for them. please get all the facts before you write slanderous reviews on a business. read more

The staff are like robots. You have to ask for a receipt, so be careful to check pricing, etc. Planning to find another place to buy my supplies after my last visit to the store. Friendliness and authenticity get my attention these days. read more
