Stocking a wide range of Middle Eastern and Indian herbs, spices and groceries at exorbitant prices; they get an extra star for the beautiful curries and tradish Indian dishes (butter chicken, masala, naan breads) available for takeaway. There are also packets of countless dried vegetables and legumes, perfect for your next curry. Oddly, there's also an aisle stocking a mixed bag of western food, including Arnott's Shapes, Pringles and every energy drink under the sun. If you're looking for variety, Minh Phat is the place to go. I love the selection in comparison to other Asian grocery shops. For instance, there would only be one specific brand of rice noodles I can buy at say, Laguna Market. However, with Minh Phat you can choose been 3-4. Customer Service: They don't really speak English. So if you don't speak Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese you're probably out of luck and won't be getting any service whatsoever. Go in knowing exactly what you want to avoid horrors. I should note that even if you CAN speak one of those languages, they still aren't very friendly. I asked a man in Cantonese if he knew where to find Hoisin Sauce and he said "sauces are over there. Just look yourself!" Minh Phat gives you decent prices as well. You can find cheaper elsewhere, but when it comes to a huge store where everything you'll need is in one place, it's still worth the few cents extra. Overall, I would definitely recommend Minh Phat for your Asian grocery shopping. It's large and spacious, the prices are cheap, and it's never that crowded. Expect to have a decent shopping experience rather than trying to dodge people in a narrow maze at a smaller store.

I love checking out NQR every now and then for the completely random range of items they stock…read more Although you cant bet on finding a winner every time, I usually leave with a swag of food, whether it be favourites for a discounted price, or something I haven't seen before that grabs my attention. Great for if you are having a party and need to stock up on finger food and dips etc, as the stuff is ready to eat and you'll save a bunch of great food that people are most likely going to devour whilst drunk. Basically, if you don't know how it works, NQR get regular brands of food, drinks, groceries and alcohol and sell them really cheap. These are brands you'll know of that might only have a month left on the expiry, or wound up here because they weren't selling well. However they get here is none of my business, all I'm concerned about is the fun of finding bizarre food items and buying them.

But Fruits on Coventry is the one I frequent the most, so I'm giving it my top prize. It's busy here, which means I know things are turning over quickly. Everything is super fresh and in addition to the usual suspects, I love the exotic fruits, special herbs, "trendy" things like edible flowers and micro herbs and purple carrots. The service is always efficient and friendly. While shopping around the other stalls may help me save a few dollars overall, this place has everything and knowing I get terrific quality and good service I generally don't bother and just make this my one stop shop for roughage.
