Canceled out on our estate sale the last minute and left us hanging dry. Do not recommend!

Buyer Beware: Our Experience with Fabulous Finds Estate Sales…read more I made myself wait six months to write this review hoping to do so objectively. I can now objectively say this was one of the worst experiences of my life. We hired Andrea Vitale with Fabulous Finds Estate Sales to provide the online auction of the contents of my parents' home. After my beloved parents passed away 25 days apart in 2020, my brother and I kept their home as a hub for our family. When my brother passed away unexpectedly, I made the painstaking decision to sell the home. A buyer came quickly, so an auction of contents was imminent. My goals were: 1) to honor my parents through the thoughtful transition of their belongings, 2) to support their grandchildren through the proceeds, and 3) to move as peacefully through the process as possible. Andrea responded to the form I submitted on EstateSales.net, stating, "We founded our company to address the lack of integrity we observed elsewhere. Our mission is to guide you through one of life's most challenging times with compassion, trust, and transparency." Of the three companies we interviewed, Andrea presented the most comprehensive plan. We contracted for specific timelines: when items would be sorted, when the auction would go live, its duration, buyer inspections and pickups, disposal of unsold items, and payment. I emphasized more than once that we needed at least six days post-auction to clean and make repairs before closing. Andrea assured me the timeline was easily achievable. What happened was the opposite. Not a single part of the contract was honored. I have texts where I expressed concern about delays and asked--respectfully--if we should consider another company. Each time, Andrea assured me all was well... until she stopped responding entirely. The auction went live three weeks late--just one week before our closing date. I only discovered it was live while researching EstateSales.net to explore legal options. I left for my hometown not knowing if she'd even show up to manage pickup day. Of the 600+ lots, only about half were listed online. The lots were supposed to be live for 5-7 days; none were up for more than 36 hours--some for only a few hours. Advertising? One Facebook post the day the auction closed. (Sidenote: when I mentioned that Andrea had taken on another auction during our contract period, she blocked my entire family from her Facebook page, preventing us from viewing activity or posting reviews.) Because only half the lots were listed, even after buyers picked up items, the house remained full--with just three days left before closing. Andrea then presented three options: 1) a lump-sum buyout with Fabulous Finds clearing the house, 2) transferring items to a future Fabulous Finds sale, or 3) moving them to my late brother's home for a future sale. We immediately rejected Option 3--it would have caused more chaos for our grieving family. Before we could decide between Options 1 and 2, Andrea rescinded both, leaving only the option we had already declined. I was stunned. At that point, it was clear Andrea's word could not be trusted. I couldn't risk being left with a house full of belongings on closing day. I asked her to collect her things and leave, and I began the process of clearing the home myself. Perhaps the most unsettling part of the experience was the gross lack of accountability. Andrea blamed the delays on a contractor who wasn't even hired until after deadlines had passed. She claimed there were more items than expected, though she toured the home and helped create the timeline. She suggested our family caused delays, though we always responded within hours--generally minutes. The delay was due to her disappearing from the project for three weeks, not our actions. Andrea eventually reduced her commission--but only by 5%, which was woefully inadequate given the financial and emotional toll. We lost more than half the auction proceeds, and the stress was enormous during an already difficult time. An estate sale is inherently emotional and stressful. When a company promises to "sell every available item" and "empty the home during the dates of auction" and fails miserably on both counts, it's important others are warned. Please proceed with caution. This is a company that cannot be trusted.

I would've been better off to donate the 2 trucks full of high end furniture to Goodwill, or sell my Ethan Allen, Herendon and Karastan items on FB Marketplace, or simply have a garage sale. She chose the first weekend of Riverfest for the sale (?!?). Why would you do that? I had $30 K in inventory and less than 25% sold. She didn't dust the furniture (which she was aware had been stored in the attic for over a year), which I expected would be done for a 40% cut. To add insult to injury, I had to ask twice for my measly final payment. Out of the 320 pictures posted, 25% (80...I counted) were of my items and the remaining 240 were pics of the items that belonged to the people I paid the $2000 fee. I ended up grossing $500 total after I paid her, the movers and the fee to use a home for 9 days. So if you're keeping track, everyone involved made a lot more money than me, the person who actually owned the $30 K of high end furniture. How f****d up is that? I wanted to have the sale at my home, but she insisted the $4000 spent on location and movers would be worth it. It wasn't. I told her flat out that I was upset. Her response? "Got it". Didn't even bother to ask why I was upset, because she already knows. She's got my money and there's nothing I can do about it, except write this review and hope somebody out there will pay heed and save themselves the pain and aggravation. Listen, there are many people who put on Estate Sales. I wish I would've chosen someone else. Anyone else. You should choose someone else. Anyone else. Unless you actually enjoy bad advice, poor attitude, or being mistreated and pilfered from. ***CAVEAT EMPTOR*** 0/10 0/10 0/10 0/10
