Ask the Community - Midwest Estate Pros

What is the percentage of the profits that they keep?

Hi Lorri! Typically it is a 60/40 split, with 60% going to the property owner and 40% to the company to cover labor and expenses. Hope this helps! If you have any further questions feel free to ask. Thanks so much!…

I would've been better off to donate the 2 trucks full of high end furniture to Goodwill, or sell my Ethan Allen, Herendon and Karastan items on FB Marketplace, or simply have a garage sale. She chose the first weekend of Riverfest for the sale (?!?). Why would you do that? I had $30 K in inventory and less than 25% sold. She didn't dust the furniture (which she was aware had been stored in the attic for over a year), which I expected would be done for a 40% cut. To add insult to injury, I had to ask twice for my measly final payment. Out of the 320 pictures posted, 25% (80...I counted) were of my items and the remaining 240 were pics of the items that belonged to the people I paid the $2000 fee. I ended up grossing $500 total after I paid her, the movers and the fee to use a home for 9 days. So if you're keeping track, everyone involved made a lot more money than me, the person who actually owned the $30 K of high end furniture. How f****d up is that? I wanted to have the sale at my home, but she insisted the $4000 spent on location and movers would be worth it. It wasn't. I told her flat out that I was upset. Her response? "Got it". Didn't even bother to ask why I was upset, because she already knows. She's got my money and there's nothing I can do about it, except write this review and hope somebody out there will pay heed and save themselves the pain and aggravation. Listen, there are many people who put on Estate Sales. I wish I would've chosen someone else. Anyone else. You should choose someone else. Anyone else. Unless you actually enjoy bad advice, poor attitude, or being mistreated and pilfered from. ***CAVEAT EMPTOR*** 0/10 0/10 0/10 0/10

The sales are always very organized, clean and everything is clearly priced. Julie will go above…read moreand beyond to help and do what is best for everyone involved. She is very upfront and honest. She always keeps lines of communication open through text, email, and phone. Even when it comes to dealing with difficult clients or customers she always remains professional! I recommend keeping her in mind if you should ever need estate sale services or if you just like getting a good deal shopping for quality used items!!
