My daughter's wedding was grossly understaffed and the "wedding coordinator" was a rude, lazy, unprepared and unprofessional on all levels. They took no care in saving her flowers, desserts or the hand painted wedding favors that were left behind. Please find another venue or at the least a professional catering and wedding coordinator company.

Mizner designed Calvin Coolidge's Summer White House. The Kennedy's and John Lennon have owned homes designed by him. Addison Mizner is known for his Mediterranean and Spanish influenced architecture that uses stucco, coquina stone, terra cotta tiles, wood beam ceilings, fountains, towers, columns, wrought iron, and tropical landscaping. Most of the homes he designed were in Palm Beach County but he designed four homes in Naples of which two remain today and this home in Fort Myers, This Fort Myers one acre estate was built in 1924 for banker Fred Alderman, President of Fort Myers First National Bank in 1921. He would entertain illustrious Fort Myers winter residents Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, and Thomas Edison. Many society events were held in the grand ballroom with its 14 foot high ceilings, elaborate mantel, and wood burning fireplace. On December 1, 1988 the house was added to the US National Register of Historic Places. More recently the grand home was used as an office for 30 years. Doreen Lehrer who was in the marines for 25 years fell in love with the house after seeing an internet posting from where she was stationed in North Korea. She purchased it sight unseen in 2016 and began the restoration. Lehrer added a kitchen and guest rooms which she rented out to guests. In 2021 the house went on the market for 1,499 million dollars. The new owners are still using it as an Airbnb for $400 a night plus cleaning and Airbnb fees. It can also be rented for weddings.

Stayed here for several days with my sister for a mid-winter getaway. We were in the lime green…read moretiny house, Unit 5. With my arms spread wide, its width is about another foot & a half. So...really tiny! All 3 tiny houses on this property are for sale ($600,000). Its good points: it was small but it was fine for the 2 of us, especially since there are only 2 chairs @ the "dining table" (this was actually only a very small tabletop attached to the wall). There is parking for about 3-4 cars at the roadway entrance. Refrigerator & freezer are good sizes, as well as the microwave, but the conduction stove was not workable (even the instruction sheet for it was not helpful), nor was the key code to get into the unit working when we arrived. The decor of fish nets, shells, positive quotes, etc are fun. The bathroom is a good size, plenty of hot water, thick towels, good lighting, shower gel, etc mounted on the wall, there is a helpful nightlight for folks sleeping in the loft, ceilings for those on the main floor are very high but bump-your-head height for those sleeping in the loft. The outdoor patio overlooking a waterway, sunrises & sunsets are great, a barbecue grill (watch out for the water rats that jump out when you open the lid!), & there are two picnic tables out here (1 with with twinkling lights at night). We saw a guy in a trailer parked behind a fence next door utilizing (maybe stealing, maybe using with permission?) the property's electricity. The down sides: the road noise is profound. Because the nearby bridge to Pine Island was ruined in the hurricane, cars have to wait their turn to traverse the one lane road going either way & work trucks, backed up for about 3/4 of a mile in either direction, will wake you up starting @ 5:30 AM like an alarm clock & again in the evening. This unit is outfitted in only a basic manner: there is lighting in the loft but no lamp (the overhead lighting there is so bright it keeps everyone else awake.) There are no spices, condiments, sponges, few instructions on how to get things to work, the site manager took FOREVER to answer our texts & calls when the key code didn't work & again later, when we saw that the small, extra "bed" had no linens (it is a couch that opens to day bed size & its middle is hard because of its framework. I would know since I tried sleeping on it for 3 nights). The property is within walking distance of what is left of Matlacha post-hurricane (Ian, in Oct. 2022, Helene & Milton in 2024) ; a car will be helpful since there is so little commerce left here & you may want to venture to Pine Island or Fort Myers but there are about 3 restaurants within walking distance as well as a couple of rainbow-hued stores.

You couldn't find a house closer to the water than this. This house was perfect for listening to…read morethe waves, watching the sunset and for collecting shells. The shells piled up on the beach right in front of the house. We saw porpoises swimming and fish being caught right in front of the house. The house had plenty of room for a large group. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms plentiful and the picture windows provided amazing views. The decks and screened in porch added to the living space so everyone could find some private space. The house isn't new but it was great for our group. The extra refrigerator was nice to have too. North Captiva is an amazing island and we'll definitely be back.
