Got food to go. Service was good. Ambiance was dated. The food was terrible. Rangoons had nothing in them. Just a dry piece of fried dough. Egg roll was chewy with mushy vegetable inside. Sesame chicken was neither sweet nor hot. The chicken was chewy and the outer coating was soggy. Yuck! read more

Like another reviewer mentioned, bland at best. I've lived in 9 states and so perhaps I am spoiled. But anyone who says this is the best, well, they have likely never had decent chinese takeout. I'm sad to say it honestly. I had hoped to offer a positive review. Ordered General Tso's lunch. Service was good otherwise. I wish I could say I could give this place another try but usually when I'm craving chinese takeout it is a General's Tso's chicken entree that brings me in. The chicken was very salty, but no flavor. Maybe not marinated long enough in the sauce I don't know. Gave me an instant stomach ache. Lesson learned 2 stars for service and friendliness. read more

The prices here are avg for Chinese food, the beef was cooked really well but everything else was just ok. After ordering take out twice near my home from Chin Chin and being totally disappointed in not only quality but quantity. Last time cost was 14 dollars for about 10 ounces of almost inedible food, I decided to give Happy China a shot. I ordered General Taos chicken, 10 wings and a small hot and sour soup. Cost just under 22 dollars. I was not disappointed. It was enough to easily feed 4 people. I wouldn't say it was the best Chinese I have ever had by a long shot but not bad at all and the 10 wings for 6.50 were a great deal as they were good sized wings. It was obviously a family run business and standing at the register you could see in the kitchen which was really clean as the whole restaurant was. I will be ordering from them again... read more

This was the absolute worst Chinese food I ever had. My order came to $35. The fried rice was horrible it had no flavor. I thought to myself how in the world could you mess up rice. The general Taos shrimp were soggy shrimp won tons. The general Taos chicken was dark meat when they told me it was going to be white meat it was pitiful and flavorless. I don't know where they found the chicken for the plain fried chicken wings I ordered but it was also lackluster. If you go to Happy China you will spend your evening in the BATHROOM!!! Don't do it!! We have been getting Happy China take- out for quite a long time. The food is OK, nothing to brag about. The cook is a very nice lady who made a bad decision in marrying a very rude person. When it comes to paying, he always gives me a hard time for using a credit card. He is always nasty or rude. For this reason, the restaurant gets a generous 2 . I frequent this restaurant often. I usually order the spring roll with my order because I don't eat meat. On this night I forgot, so I asked if I could switch my egg roll for a spring roll. The lady who works there told me it would be $.25 (as to discourage me from switching) which is not a problem. As she walked away, in a disrespectful tone, she stated that I should have told her that information when I ordered. I was a little shocked. So as she was getting ready to start cooking, I told her not to worry about it since it was such an inconvenience for her. Instead of stating that it was fine she brought the egg roll back to me. I told the young man that since she has a problem she doesn't have to worry with me coming back. Happy China isn't so HAPPY! read more

Funny, didn't remember going here before, but guess so since I wrote about it. What stood out about this visit..... ordered and prepared fresh so that was good. Had to wait a few minutes. But still, the lomein was dry and did not seem to have much chicken or veggies in it at all, maybe because we got the individual order that just came in the little white box instead of a plastic dish. The Happy Family, or Chef's special... forget which, but the one with shrimp, chicken, and beef was good in that the veggies were fresh and the shrimps large and multiple of them, but it was just kind of bland. I ordered it because it was one that had a pepper next to it indicating a little spice and it had none. The Kung Pao Chicken also just had a little kick, not what I was hoping for. I'm always afraid to say, make it medium spicy because I that varies so much from one asian place to another. To me a big measure of the chinese place is how much you look forward to eating the leftovers the next day. Not so much on this order. read more

My family gets takeout from here once a week, typically on Saturday nights. No, it isn't gourmet Chinese food, but it is consistently tasty with fresh ingredients. We've been eating it weekly for a year or so and have never had a bad meal. Our typical takeout order includes lo mein (one chicken, one vegetable) and sweet and sour chicken for our two grade school children. We've also had various tofu dishes--which I found less consistent than other items, but I'm admittedly particular about the texture of my tofu--beef with broccoli, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, & General Tsao's chicken. Each were enjoyed. After trying various area Chinese restaurants for our weekly takeout fix, Happy China is the first to offer reliably good Chinese food. Others might be amazing one order and abysmal the next. For strip mall takeout Chinese, Happy China hits all the marks. read more

I felt the need to write this review because I have been a fan of Happy China for years and I was very surprised to see these negative reviews. No, it's not gourmet Chinese food. However, I have always had consistently good food from here, always large portions, and they're always friendly. Also, I don't know what happened to the person who got dry lo mein, but I always order lo mein with my meal and it's never been dry before, and this is with me ordering it multiple times over a matter of a few years. All in all, I don't think you should be deterred by these other bad reviews, because my friends and I have always really enjoyed Happy China.
