We have been with Happy Dog since 2006! I first heard of Mike McRae when I was out in the neighborhood walking our dog, Porter, and a complete stranger recommended him to me. A few weeks later, our vet recommended him. Our dog was about 6 months old at the time, so Porter has "grown up" with him. When Porter was a puppy, Mike was instrumental in guiding us through the training process and putting us in touch with a great trainer. He even came over for some of that training, so that he and I were on the same page with respect to setting boundaries, etc. We've even boarded Porter with Mike when we've gone on vacation or away for weekends. Right before we left for vacation a couple of years ago, Porter had to have emergency surgery. Mike took care of him while he was recovering, which included taking him to the vet to have his staples removed. We stayed with Happy Dog when Joy took over the business. She continued running the business with all the love, trust, and professionalism that we had come to expect from Mike McRae. Though we were sad to say goodbye to her, we were thrilled when Mike returned. Mike McRae is wonderful and we feel that he is part of our family. And, Porter loves him too. read more

We have been using Happy Dog since our 3 year old dog was a puppy! She loved Joy and was very well taken care of. Joy and Mike made sure her transition to Mike was seamless. Mike started walking our dog, Pepper, a few months ago. I saw his Yelp and Facebook reviews, reached out, and he responded within the hour. We were able to schedule a meet and greet very quickly after I reached out, and we've been working with him regularly since then. Pepper is an 80lb "Velcro dog" who generally doesn't want to go anywhere without my husband or me, but she will go for walks with Mike and gets excited to see him. We couldn't be happier with our choice to try play group for our 1 year old dog at Happy Dog. Michael is wonderful and truly cares about all the animals he takes care of. He is responsive to any questions we have and our dog absolutely adores him. Michael is AMAZING. He watched our cat Gizmo for two weeks while we went on vacation. We were a bit nervous as we had never used a pet sitter before, but Michael put us at ease instantly! He came over to meet Gizmo and talk through our needs while we were gone. He was very easy to coordinate key drop-off and pick-up with as well. During our trip, he sent pictures and updates every day and we could tell he took the time to play with Gizmo. He also watered our plants, which was amazing!! When we came back, the house was spotless - maybe even cleaner than we left it, and our cat was happy as can be. Overall, highly recommend and we will definitely be back! read more

I've had my 7 year old chocolate lab, Riggins with Happy Dog since day one & I can honestly say that the positive social interaction he receives with others dogs as well as with Mike is awesome! Absolutely nothing but the utmost praise for Joy and Happy Dog daycare. As a protective mommy of a four month old puppy, I was very nervous about sending my boy to any doggy day care. However, Joy has my complete trust and it's very clear that her first priority is the well-being of each and every dog. She has sent me emails and text messages if she's noticed even the most minor concern (i.e., excess scratching or a tiny cut) which I appreciate tremendously. She also posts videos and pictures on her blog and facebook page so I can see my pup and all his new friends playing and having blast. My puppy greets her every morning with the same level of excitement as he greets his own mommy (and no one else!) and he can barely keep himself from sprinting out of my house! All in all, I don't have single hesitation on recommending Happy Dog to anyone. You'll feel great knowing that your pup is in the best hands- and he or she will have an absolute blast. Mike has been walking our two dogs for ten years. I would never trust any other person with my two spoiled rotten labradors. One of the services Mike offers is to stay at our house when we are on vacation. Because one of my dogs does not play well with others and cannot be included in the playgroups, this is a fantastic accomodation. Mike cares so deeply for all dogs that he accompanied my family to the hospital when one of ours fell ill and continued to make daily visits. He is expremely dependable and responsible with our dogs. I used Happy Dog years ago with my Great Dane. She was too big to board at a kennel, and Happy Dog didn't use crates, so it was perfect! She loved it there. I haven't lived close enough in the past few years, but I will soon and am so excited that I will be able to use them again! read more
