There were many orders before mine and that was OK. The gyro was worth waiting for today. I ordered the Mediterranean Gyro with chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, Taziki sauce, onions, and some yummy seasonings. I ate half of it and will enjoy the rest later. The restaurant is kind of small but has a lot of space. It is very narrow and located on the Highland Strip close to the University of Memphis. It is authentic Greek food and the owners are very nice and friendly. I asked about which gyro they would choose. I appreciated the recommendations. We would rate The Happy Greek 4.5 stars. We have eaten there happily recurrently. We always order a gyro with lamb and beef. Since COVID many restaurants have outrageous lunch time prices but we frequent The Happy Greek because we beieve their prices have remained fair for how generous the size of the gyro is. It comes with a choice of sauce, and they have so many to choose from! I got two. I decided on the hot sauce and the Tzatziki sauce. The bowl comes with rice and fresh toppings, as can be seen from the picture I provided from their toppings bar. It also included pita bread. The price was a little steep but so worth it! I thought I would eat half and save the other half, since the portion was so generous. But, it was so good I ate all of it! They made the chicken fresh, and this is the best part. BUT the food is so flavorful. They have a fresh slab of beef/lamb meat turning ready to cut off fresh. We spent about $90 on everything. 3 bowls, two appetizer's, and 3 spanakopita. Not bad! My favorite is the pita bread. It is so soft and warm. Perfect for dipping. I also want to give a shout out to the employees! The food had a good taste to it, but I cannot say that this is my fave spot for a good gyro. I definitely don't mind coming back though. The cashier that took my order was very kinda and my order was up quicker than what I expected. But I'm guessing there's a lot of foot traffic & Carry Out, so the location is perfect for a Mom 'n Pop business. I enjoyed the Dolmades Appetizer ($4.99). Spanakopeta ~ Greek Spinach Pie ~ ($4.99) was barely warmed up. Beef & Lamb Gyro ($7.25) was stuffed with thick slices, could have used more sauce. Likewise the Philly Cheesesteak, which was actually more tasty than the Gyro. They were barely warmed. I didn't see a bottle of Hand Sanitizer. read more
