it is a very good eatery for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern ttype foods. I got the Kifta and wife got the gyro both of which are served in pit's bread. You can order them in plates or platters also. See the menu pictures. The meat was very flavorful and the pita bread good. Also got some hummus and it was very good and was generous in portion and came with pita chips. At another visit I had the falafel and found it to be very good. Service was good. You order at the counter and then find a table to dine in. The place is pretty clean. They also seem to have an open spit for roasting the meat and they carve some of the meat for platter dishes from that. The fountain drinks are self serve. read more

Great food that should keep you coming back for more. Good to see that they have refreshed their menu and now are offering some additional items, such as the Kefta Burger (for kids), bowls and other nontraditional items. Fountain drink dispenser seems to be permanently Out Of Service with the other alternative being a $2.43 can of soda, ouch. Prices are in high side, but you do get what you pay for. The tipping point for me was when I was up charged for additional Tzatziki sauce on a $12 pita gyro. It's good, but I don't know if it is "that good." Everything I've eaten has been delicious - no exceptions. Everything is prepared in house - even the fries! (One of my kids ordered them and I tried one - doughy on the inside, lightly crispy on the outside, and seasoned lightly with salt. When I walked in the atmosphere was amazing it was all women and plenty of them were eating alone while watching a show on their laptops!! The environment was super clean and put together. The food was incredibly fresh even the vegetables in the chopped salad, my food came out in less than 10 minutes, the guy who took my order was super nice and patient and even recommended me some things since it was my first time! We were in the area today and decided to try something new and so glad we did. We don't have very many Greek/Mediterranean options where we live so we were excited to try it. The menu was a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to ordering like that but in a good way. My husband and I just picked the bowls with rice, the chicken and each picked our 6 sides and sauce. The young man at the register taking our order was very helpful with recommendations. The food only took a couple minutes simply because it is made fresh as you order. The chicken was so tender and juicy, the sides were all fresh and the portion size was huge. I had been staring at the menu off and on as we ate trying to see what all they had so when I walked up to ask for a lid to take my leftover food to go the guy stopped me to give me a sample of the spicy chicken and shawarma and let me tell you it was AMAZING!! The shawarma was our favorite and will definitely be what we try next but you really can't go wrong with any of the meats. The restaurant was very clean which is appreciated nowadays for sure. This is without a doubt the best Mediterranean food in the Midsouth. The humus is always so fresh, creamy...it is simply amazing. I think I've have tried almost every Mediterranean restaurant in the entire Memphis area, and I make a habit of tasting their humus. None compare to ZamZamz's. In fact, the only restaurant whose humus came close to comparing to ZamZamz's was an authentic Greek restaurant in Longwood, FL. Note that Greek humus is a different style than Mediterranean humus. Perhaps that is why one reviewer said the humas was "pretty plain." The humas and pita bread is fresh-made everyday! Oh! The falafel is wonderful also. While my favorite entree is the gyro pita sandwich. My wife gets the Mediterranean salad with chicken. She raves about how the salad is always fresh and crisp. The portions are generous, making it well worth the money. The service is great! Mo, the owner, is a friendly family man. He entertains my silly questions with a smile. We chose to eat lunch here on a Saturday after seeing all the positive reviews. My first comment is the inside is smaller than I though. The ambiance is quick service and fryer grease. It is clean inside but don't wear your good Sunday clothes in there. The service is absolutely great! They were friendly taking our order and the guy who took our order brought me out a free ground lamb/beef since I ordered the lamb kabob and he said they dropped a piece of lamb and wanted to make it right. I went during lunch with some coworkers around 11:30 and there were just a couple of people inside. After ordering at the kiosk we got our food in a timely manner. I ordered the gyro pita, and a side of hummus with pita. The gyro was great, very flavorful and filling. But, the hummus, for me, was pretty plain. Food is good and proportions are very good for the money. This is a solid 3.75 stars for the food, its freshness (made each morning) but I can't rate much higher because of a few little issues. First, tiny napkins are a real annoyance. Second, the soft drink machine is consistently not working properly, syrup is out and / or, when the machine is functioning and syrup connected - the ratios of water, syrup and CO2 are so off the beverage is hard to drink. It seems the concentrations are intentional off so you get the color but very little flavor; a diabetic has few worries about sugar overload even with regular Mt Dew and Strawberry Fanta. (That statement has not been reviewed by the FDA or anyone who has run laboratory tests regarding the presence or quantity of sugar from ZZ's soda fountain) I frequent ZamZams when in the area because it's a safe and tasty place - but hydrate up before you go. read more

I don't feel terrible after eating the food here so that's a plus for me. They have great salads, hummus, kebabs, hand cut fries, and corn salad. The price ranges so some plates and platters can be fairly inexpensive at $8.99 and some can be a little pricey for $16.99. We tried ZamZamz last night for dinner. Located in a strip mall next to a froyo place, we found the restaurant very clean and neatly organized. ZamZamz offers shawarma, gyros, hummus, and other Mediterranean and Middle Eastern favorites. We both had plates -- I had the chicken shawarma and my boyfriend had the gyro plate. Both consisted of our chosen meats on a bed of rice and two sides. We both went with hummus and fries. A large pita was given to us to dip in our hummus. The rice on both plates was really good -- super flavorful and soft. As weird as it may sound, that was probably the best part. The gyro meat (beef and lamb) was better than the chicken shawarma; it was moist and the serving was generous. The chicken shawarma was pretty dry but tasted okay otherwise, though I wish it had been served hotter. The fries were solid enough, though a couple were a little close to being undercooked. The hummus was too smooth and lemony for our preference, and the pita was sadly served cold. Overall, I would say the food was okay to decent/good. The service wasn't particularly friendly; instead of being welcomed in, they just announced they weren't serving gyros in pita because they'd run out (even though we still got a pita with our hummus, which was confusing). Then they just sort of pointed at our food when it was ready and they caught us looking at it on the counter, rather than calling our name or bringing the food to us. They weren't rude, just not particularly welcoming. Our experience was alright, but there are many more places in Memphis worth a try! read more
