We have been extremely pleased with instruction at Happy Hooves these past two years. Crystal is very knowledgable, experienced, and just a kind and respectful person. She is also safety-conscious and attentive, which makes Happy Hooves the best choice for new &/or young riders. We were new to the world of horseback riding when our daughter expressed interest. We started at another facility that had a young rider program (Wildwind) that packed several young children into one lesson. Lack of safety and attentiveness to individual riders were huge, ongoing issues... For about the same cost, Crystal provides one-on-one attention and makes sure your child is safe and feels respected. My daughter and I have been riding with Crystal for over 4 years. She has always been professional and knowledgeable. As a older rider, with no previous riding experience, she has been patient and never pushed me beyond my limits. She helped me build confidence and trust and has always worked at my pace. My daughter has had a great experience, and has learned so much. The thing that I appreciate more then anything else is the environment that she has created at the barn. This is an outstanding horse facility. My daughter has taken lessons there for almost a year and has learned a great deal. The barns are clean and horses well cared for. Crystal gives the riders individual attention and my 9 year old has thrived in this setting. She puts safety first and is an excellent teacher, with the right amount of firmness and caring. We came from another area barn that was offered through the school system. I am constantly amazed at how different they are. I knew more about the facility, the lessons, and the horses within the first lesson with Crystal compared to a year we spent at the other center. Highly highly recommend! read more

AMAZING PLACE friendly horses and people

I rode with Crystal for over two years. It seemed like I was progressing up until I began to canter, and then it all went backwards. Ive spoken to at least 5 other riders, all different ages, who feel they have experienced the same. When I decided I wanted to progress further, I switched barns, and realized that almost everything she had been teaching me had been wrong. I had to start from the ground up with a lot of very important basic things. I realized that the way she would yell at me and other riders wasn't productive at all, and did not provide a healthy learning environment. read more

What stands out to me is the attention to safety first and attention to teaching compassionate and natural horsemanship. This is a great start for kids but adults too. I am impressed with the quality of the lesson horses as I started riding in a couple lesson programs at other facilities where the horses were extremely difficult to handle for a beginner. So I am EXTREMELY picky with the care and environment for my horses! Being active in the equestrian competitions, I love my mare to have a facility to come home that is quiet and laid back. Since bringing her here she has blossomed with no reoccurrence of ulcers. The care goes about and beyond what is normally expected from a typical boarding barn! They take notice if there are any issues, and it is extremely peaceful! Large clean indoor, nice outdoor, plethora of trails, ample feed, outstanding hay, clean paddocks (literally no mud), and no silly drama of any sorts! For lessons geared towards youngsters their instruction is thorough, and school horses are well taken care off! There is a solid education base for safety, and every rider I have observed has been matched to a specific horse. They know how to cater to each individual horse and rider, and will have to agree this is the best barn for low key and professionalism I have ever been too! read more
