The pastures, which were never big, have been chopped down smaller. For anything extra they charge, not unfair. But , the owners are so greedy and cheap, they do not pay any of the extra to the barn help!! The place looks nice, and the barn part is ok, it's the rest they fell down on. As for caring? Hah! Ask the boarder/worker who let them borrow her horse for a camping trip to IL or WI, a few years ago. They came home, but the horse died on the trip. She talked to them while they were gone, and they always sounded drunk! They disavowed any responsibility and did not want to pay any of the vet expenses. The poor owner, a super nice, hard working college kid, was devastated. I have rarely heard of such callous unconcern and lack of accountability!! If you venture your horse at this barn, watch your, and your horse's, backs. Michelle and Trista will not. All they want is your money and to drink.

Many of the horses are rescues, and the owner has done a lovely job training them to be wonderful, mild-mannered trail ride horses. There was a 6-year-old child in our group who never once held onto the reins, and she never had a problem because the lead wrangler was leading her horse with a rope. There are wranglers at the front and back of the group as you travel single file down the road with cars driving by periodically. Our wranglers frequently yelled directions (that nobody in the middle of the group could hear), and that aspect really annoyed my daughter. It was not a peaceful ride. I have been to the Waterloo location and was expecting a walk through a beautiful wooded area like it is there, so our route was a disappointment to me as was the slow pace. The web site mentioned both walking and trotting. We were at a slow walk for the entire ride. Since my daughter and I both ride frequently, this was not at all what we were looking for. That being said, this would be perfect for people who have never ridden or for families with small children.

They keep way too many horses in close proximity. The living environment looked unbearable, the horses were filthy, they had zero grass and they were stewing in a bunch of sh*t. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1998 (which is when they bought the "farm"). Additionally, on what was supposed to be a relaxing horse ride, she screamed at the cars driving past us multiple times. We were on a secluded dirt road, people were already halfway off the other side of the road driving probably 25mph, there was no need for her irrational reaction. Overall, horrible experience. Go somewhere else.

The facilities are spacious, clean well ventilated. There are several tacking areas with cross ties and an indoor wash rack. The indoor arena is large and usually empty. There is also a lot of outdoor space to ride (I joined recently in bad wether so I have not experienced these spaces myself.) The tack lockers are plenty big for 2 saddle plus other supplies. The pastures are spacious and the horses are grouped compatibly. They feed really great grain too! The best part about the barn is that everyone is really nice and I feel confident that my horse is in good hands when I go home every day.

The eight miles of smoothly paved bike trail between the towns of Hamburg and Pinckney has become…read moreone of my favorite rides in southeastern Michigan. The trail was built 25 years ago on a defunct part of the Grand Trunk Railway bed. An point of trivia that you may find interesting is that Michigan's own 1970s rock band Grand Funk Railroad was named after this very same Grand Trunk Railway! Trivia aside, the Lakelands Trail runs westward from the Hamburg trailhead through some beautifully wooded wetlands past Zukey Lake, one of eight lakes on a connected chain of lakes. On this trail, you'll find the hugely popular 90-year old Zukey Lake Tavern perched on the lake's scenic waterfront. The well maintained trail continues on through mature woodlands until arriving at the historic railroad depot in Pinckney, Michigan, with a modest population of 2,412. This 17 mile round trip between two small Michigan towns fueled by sunshine and fresh air is a real pleasure of a ride...5-stars.
