It is somewhat an institution with locals, given that noodles are hand-made right in the vitrine, to the point where there is a line of people waiting to be seated in the evenings and you might need to wait for 15-30 minutes before getting a spot, even as a small group. Big bottles of Tsingtao vouch for authenticity, but unfortunately the taste of the soup with noodles I got was a tad underwhelming. Handmade Asian noodles and you could definitely taste how fresh it was. The soup had the perfect amount of flavor and there offer a variety of noodle and wonton dishes. I would not recommend getting anything that isn't soup based because I did see them using the microwave to heat up rice and hot items before serving them to the customers which was weird to me. One of my better decisions for trying to find some authentic Chinese food in Paris! I highly recommend ordering their beef noodle soup with the hand pulled noodles. Oo! This is an awesome noodle place! I've been here three times and when I was back in the states, I was still thinking about Happy Nouilles! The dishes are about 10 Euros or under, so it's easy on the wallet. The noodles are hand pulled and taste amazing. The first time we came, we shared the duck noodle soup which was excellent. The broth was very tasty and the noodles were perfect, with great springiness and chew. The meat was served on the bone though which I didn't care for, but it did taste good. My favorite dish is the Fillament Porc dish with the thick cut noodles; I'm not sure of the exact name. It's the middle dish of the last row of noodle items. It's outstanding! I love the crispy pork belly in it and the noodles are oh so good! The noodles are thick and chewy, and aren't uniform in shape. This is the dish I have ordered three times now! About half way through the dish, I do like to use the condiments on the side for a little extra punch as the taste is a little on the mild side. There was a VERY strong flavor like cumin so that kind of ruined it for me but the noodles were so damn good I ate it anyway. It cleared my sinuses. Be warned tho, the restaurant is tiny, a hole in the wall. It is not set up for the amount of customers it gets. Their system is very confusing and chaotic. There was a line to order but then there was people just sitting down and ordering and there was another line for people trying to pay. Only one lady handles both lines and the phone. If you want a bowl of spicy beef noodle soup to warm you up from the cold, this is a really great place to come. It was inexpensive, the food was super fast, the noodles were fresh and handmade right in the front, and the food was delicious. I'd highly recommend this place if you want a break from French food and craving some Asian food / noodles. The place is small, so you may have to wait. We got lucky and didn't have to wait on a Sunday night for dinner around 8:00/8:30 pm, but the tables turnover rather quickly. This is best if you have 2-4 people in your party as the place is not very large and there is not a lot of room or big tables. For comparison of other Asian food in Paris, we had also eaten at Pates Vivantes and Kunitoraya - Bistro Udon for other noodle soups, and this one at Happy Nouilles was our favorite of the 3. All 3 places make their own fresh noodles right there, but this one was our favorite in terms of the dishes, quality, and price. The spicy beef noodle soup is one of their most popular dishes and for good reason - the broth is great, spicy, but not overly spicy where your tastebuds will burn off and you can't taste anything else, and not salty. The noodles were chewy and al dente, and the beef was well marinated, the texture was good, and had lots of flavor and spices. This is a traditional Taiwanese beef soup. We also got a stirfry dish of noodles and beef, which was also good. Not too many vegetables, but the sauce was good and the right amount, and we finished every little bit. We got the gyozas which I could go either way on. They were being made in the back and then brought out on a tray, and then warmed up in the microwave when you ordered them. The skin was a bit on the thicker side, but the gyozas were a decent size and not super small. They were good, but not sure I would necessarily get them again. Its embarrassing but I've been here 5 times since discovering this place just 3 weeks ago. It's a small Chinese restaurant and if I hadn't read the reviews online, I probably just would've walked right past it like I do for most of the other Asian restaurants in the area. They hand-make their noodles and they are seriously so delicious! At only 6.90€ for a bowl of noodles..it is such a satisfying dinner! I've tried the "Sichuan", the lamb, beef, and the porc haché. Sichuan is a spicy broth and it comes with beef brisket but sometimes they give more tendon then meat which I dont like at all. The broths for lamb and beef are the same but I always ask them to make it spicy and its always the perfect balance! The only thing is, for the porc haché, the broth is a spicy miso broth and its so delicious but extremely salty so be prepared to add water to it yourself in order to dilute it. My favorite pairing with the noodles is by far the lamb. They also have really cheap beer and delicious looking stir fried noodles with their homemade noodles which I need to try at some point. Their nems (egg rolls) are average but they also under-fry it and so you get a bit of the dough-y wrapping that isn't completely cooked all the way through. So glad I found this place, its so close to wear I live! My boyfriend and I have been a bit disappointed with the availability of really good Chinese places in London. I had my boyfriend order everything in Mandarin and the menu is only in French or Mandarin so I'm not sure how English-speaking friendly this place is but I would still recommend it. There is a huge Chinese population in Paris, making these noodles comparable with what you would get in other big cities with Chinese influence like New York. I personally think they are as good as the noodle spots I frequent in NYC. In we went and ordered an appetizer of marinated kelp salad and mains of spicy beef noodles soup and shrimp dumplings soup. Kelp salad was average, slightly sourish, a little bit of spice, but manageable to most I believe. €5. The noodles took a while to arrive given it was all done by 1 man to make the noodles and another lady to cook them. Portions in general was generous. The beef noodles weren't that spicy after all. Soup lacked depth but could be fixed up with the additional vinegar and chilli paste on the side. Beef was a little tough. €6.90 Shrimp dumplings (7 big ones) were big but had a lot of excess dumpling skin. Anyway they were pretty tasty, with chopped bamboo shoots within to add texture. The soup was light and had lots of bok choy for added healthy benefits. €7.90 overall, comfort food for the Chinese! Came here for lunch with the mother on Easter Monday having enjoyed the noodles here last summer. It seems quite popular with the locals and Chinese students and it's easy to see why--their hand pulled noodles is excellent and from €6.90 for a massive bowl, really affordable too. I like that you can pick your type of noodles and that they have (nian gao, a sort of glutinous rice cake), a very Shanghainese 'noodle' that you can't find at many other places! We ordered the (Bagu--pork rib hand pulled noodles) and (Louvé--five spice beef hand cut noodles). Both were pretty good. I think they use the same broth but the soup that came with the pork ribs somehow tasted meatier. It's not the most flavoursome soup, but still good enough to come back for especially with the noodles! The texture of the hand pulled noodles was great and the ribs were tender. Would definitely order this again! The beef noodles comes with thinly sliced beef that has tendony bits (not everyone's cup of tea) & it's not as well seasoned as the pork ribs imo. The cut noodles was nice and chewy but sometimes too thick so you could taste the doughiness :( And the serving was wayyy too much! After eating my fill it looked like I still had a whole bowl of noodles left (and I ate lots), good or bad thing I guess. We also got the fried dumplings, but really should've passed on them. They were pretty bad--the skin was too thick, the meat inside was not seasoned, it had the texture of dense Chinese meatballs and worst of all, they were soggy. No one likes soggy fried food. This was our first meal at Paris. A bowl of noodle after a long flight, it really hit the spot. The reason why I didn't give it a 5 star was the ridiculous wait time. Form the time we sat down to when we each got our noodles, we waited for 45 minutes. For 4 hungry souls, it was painful... once we did get the noodles though, it was very good. Not so good that it made the wait worth it, but good enough to not disappoint us. The noodles were entirely handmade there in the restaurant, it's kinda fun to watch. We walked in off the cold sidewalk and inside was a hot steamy mess of people, noodles being flung around, bowls of soup being carried past the massive line of folks waiting for a table, and not a single person working there who seemed to speak more than a few words of English. The broth itself was merely okay, and the beef had a slight burnt taste as if the braising liquid was running dangerously low. Food here is fantastic, service is fast and accommodating, and the value is pretty unbeatable. I went here twice during my trip to Paris, and ordered their 拉面，红烧茄子，糖醋排骨，炒拉面. (Pull noodle soup, eggplant, sweet sour pork, and stir fry noodles). All of them are great, but the lamian/lull noodle Szechuan soup are definitely standouts. They have ample seating area and are attentive in bringing more water. If you're around Pompidou this is a fantastic place to grab lunch or dinner! French food is great, but since I grew up eating Chinese food and I'm from San Francisco, not having a steady stable of Chinese restaurants really made my tastebuds homesick and was the only negative of my study abroad experience. Also this place was cheap compared to other places. I mean I do like steak and frites but I don't want to shell out $25 dollars for a meal every time I eat out. We kept passing by the aptly named Happy Nouilles on the way to the Arts et Métiers metro. It certainly looked happy, what with a small Asian woman constantly making freshly made noodles in the window every time we strolled past. We finally gave into temptation, making it a late night second dinner. And we were right to stop by. On the spectrum of noodle soups, Asian people tend to fall into one of two groups: either the soup is paramount, or the noodle is. Personally, I fall into the latter. Whether pho, ramen, laksa--you name it--the best broth in the world can't mask a limp noodle. Of course, it always helps to be great at both, and my bowl of beef noodle soup (niu rou mien) was just that. This place is a mouthgasm for avid noodle soup lovers. I ordered the #4 which is basically spicy ground pork served upon a flavorful broth and with the famous Happy Nouilles. You get a choice of four noodles as I can remember from the menu, but the one to get is the (Filay mon du bley) excuse my phonetic spelling of the french word, but these noodles are simply shredded by hand into the soup. The noodles are thick and chewy...think of a thicker chowfun/pad see eww noodle. The #4 was spicy and goes nice with a tall bottle of tsingtao. I also tried the dumplings which only set you back about 4 euros and are a meal in itself. They stuff these things with a hefty amount of meat! To continue on to explain about the #4....it is mind blowing. It was spicy, chewy, and delicious. I cannot find any other words to explain what it is and this was my first time having noodle soup like this. The restuarant is definitely a fusion of other Asian cuisines and I will be back for more.
