First and foremost wear long sleeves or a sweater because it's chilly in here. I came on a Sunday because I was intrigued by the menu board they placed outside; they serve brunch and bottomless mimosas however, I was here to try an Irish cuisine. I ordered the "I got your Six" cheese curds which comes with marinara sauce. They were tasty however they weren't hot which was a bummer. For a main course I order the corned beef hash which comes with a mound of potatoes, sliced corned beef and two eggs; I asked for the eggs to be over medium. The food was pipping hot and serve on a cast iron plate. Unfortunately my eggs were over cooked so I didn't get to enjoy the warm yolk pour over the potatoes. The servers were friendly and attentive, they had every Sunday game on but they only have a speaker to play one, they have outside seating, I was able to sit near an outlet to charge my phone and noticed that they have outlets on the bar (right where your knee would be if you're seated on a stool). I docked a star for the following reasons: My eggs were over cooked, the potatoes are NOT homemade, and the appetizer wasn't pipping hot like the main entree. This once shamefully mediocre excuse for an Irish pub has now since been through an earth shattering makeover and redemption. One could even claim it's as epic as Robert Downey Jr. making his comeback as Tony Stark...but perhaps that's a bit hyperbolic of me to say. I mean, it's just A-OK for now. And that's only based on the one dish I had a chance to try so far. Let's review. The decor and interior have both been modernized to an updated, contemporary feel. I still recall the previous interior setup, which featured more tables and less bar. It was not impressive AT ALL. Now? The bar takes up half the restaurant, but this look actually works, considering the Irish Pub is a bar first and a kitchen second. This much is made obvious once you take a look at their menu. Yes, it's small. But that only means it's easier to execute, right? Weeelll...'bout that.. Now, I admit I'm a harsh judge of character when it comes to fish n' chips. I'm a damn Yankee after all. The Irish rendition was....actually pretty okay. It didn't blow me away...especially when half the batter came off of one piece of fish in particular, only to reveal the fish itself didn't even fill half the batter (what even IS this sorcery?). But the flavor was fine and at least the batter didn't overwhelm said fish to the point of resembling the texture of a breaded condom. But, I digress. Here's the bottom line. It's fine for what it is and where it's coming from. I'd give the fish a 6 out of 10, as some pieces tasted a bit more rubbery than others. I do love the presentation of the dish, plus the way they do their fries. Well....they're basically chips. In fry form. As in...you have steak fries that are flatter than the plate and about the thickness of kettle cooked chips. I'd honestly never seen anything like it before and they weren't half bad. This version of fish n' chips also came with a Chipotle Aioli. Up until now, I had no idea what the hell that was. All I know is it tastes good as f*ck on the fries and yes...even the fish (though this New Englander still prefers tartar sauce). Now, of course, they use cod for the fish. Not my particular favorite, as this is a rather cheap fish, actually. But I understand why they chose it; so, this isn't a deal breaker for me. You have to wonder if the waitresses here like wearing the uniforms this place gives them. I didn't take any pictures out of modesty for the ladies, but uhm....let me put it this way: it's like the Irish tailored edition of Hooter's uniforms. With skirts. It's just a good thing all the ladies were clearly taught never to bend over too far. Or else they'd inexorably be revealing what color undies they were wearing. Anyways, moving on.. Not a bad place to revisit post makeover if you're in town for lunch. This is only an initial review for me, as there are at least two other items I'd like to try before maybe updating this rating. This place is fun! Definitely made us smile and laugh. I docked it a star for the service. I went with my husband and our friend before hitting up a movie. I was pregnant so no alcohol for me. The guys, however, ordered two beers... and after 30 minutes, no drinks. They were sat on the counter and left there, but no waitress to bring them over as they were too busy standing there watching the peeps preforming karaoke. Well, to be honest, Happy's didn't make me too happy. Perhaps it was off day for the chef when I tried their $5 chicken wrap lunch special. I ordered grilled over fried as it is my usual preference. I'm afraid it was a mistake on my part since I ended up getting a fried one later. Here's my story.... The grilled chicken had a very strange texture IMHO. It almost sounded like it was raw (it sounded crunchy) as I chewed. It didn't taste cold, so it wasn't frozen, but chicken shouldn't have a texture like that. Upon further investigation, it didn't look pink in the middle, but it was more like transparent--raw. When I did complain this to the server, she was only concerned about replacing it and said she was going to get me another one--so I tried the fried chicken wrap instead not taking any chance again. This time chicken tasted normal, and it had a normal texture like what cooked chicken should have. Anyway, I was afraid that grilled chicken wasn't cooked enough--definitely not 160 F, and I had a bite or two of under-cooked/raw chicken. Thank goodness I didn't get sick from it. They have nice potato chips. It had nice flavor and crunchiness. That probably was the best part of my lunch. Came here on a Thursday night they had karaoke going on, inside was a little loud so my husband and I chose to sit on the patio which was really nice especially beings the weather was perfect. It took a few minutes to be greeted and noticed. Once we were approached we were offered drinks but no menus, we then asked for menus and ordered the curds as an appetizer and the chicken tenders as the meal. All the food came out at the same time, both curds and tenders were delicious, but no napkins given. After I finished my drink I asked for another, it never came so I ended up asking for the check. It's okay food, amazing service considering how informal it is. I got cheese curds as an appetizer, it was alright, properly made, not too sure on the type of cheese they used but all in all I like them. They came with a marinara sauce that was refrigerated and cold. I asked if they could warm it up but they said they couldn't. I also had the cod, pretty good all things considered. The prices are sooo good first of all, and secondly I've been multiple times and it's delicious every single time. I've had their cheese curds, their pretzel, the rueban sandwich, the wings; it's all good. Everything is always fresh and hot. Seriously my favorite spot on Fort Bliss because it's real food and not chain! It's fun to hang with your friends and it's a very welcoming friendly fun place to go. First off, I've given this place not 1, not 2, but 3 chances! 3! The 1st time I went, my waitress - AMAZING! HILARIOUS! ATTENTIVE! As well as a few of the other girls I made friends with. The last 1 times, I've been nothing but disappointed. 1. I was really upset when I found out some of the girls I loved were no longer working there for STUPID reasons. 2. Got even more upset when I saw that the girls who shouldn't be working there still were. And 3. I got POOR service. My waitress my 2nd time going was a girl named McKenzie (if that's how it's spelled), she was one of the rudest waitesses ever. She rarely paid attention to my husband and I, I had to ask another waitress for refills because she was to busy sitting down and talking to a guy inside, and she had attitude the whole time. Carly, same way. As well as some of their other servers! 3rd time going, our food took almost an hour to come out, wasn't lukewarm when received, waited over 15 minutes for 2 draft beers - 2! Some of those bartenders are to busy flirting with customers, talking to each other, and only pay attention to their customers at the bar. A bartender they call "Mama" has no clue what she's really doing, another bartender Jasmine - rude! Another big thing, some of their patrons look underage and don't see them checking ID's so big red flag! All I can say is that I give this place at most a year. They need to bring back some of their old servers, get rid of some of the ones they have now, as well as bartenders. Their manager is running this place in the ground!
