A few weeks ago my parents sat me down and explained that I was now an adult. Apparently once you are a home owner everything changes. They informed me that I would need to get my finances figured out, start making sense of my tax information and get my life in order. I was not ready. One of the first things on my to do list was to talk to an accountant. Before I went to Hara Yoshida, I couldn't even spell the word accountant much less understand what they do and how they would help me. I found this place through a friend of a friend of a friend's sister. (Didn't see that one coming now did you?) Fast forward: I made an appointment for a 30 minute consultation with Mr. Yoshida for $75 and instantly I'm terrified. I'm not going to understand a word this guy is saying. Should I bring a dictionary? His name sounds really serious and what if he thinks I'm insane. How do I even dress for this? Is a ball gown too much or not enough? I take some deep breaths and proceed. I made sure to jot down a lot of notes as my parents were talking and I write down exactly 438 questions about my personal taxes and tax questions in general hoping that Mr. Yoshida and I can get through at least 1 of them. Just a few include: *What is a 10/99 and a W-2? *As a contracted employee which do I need? *As a teacher How do I claim private services with families I work with? *How does gift tax work? *Whats the difference between a standard deduction and an itemized deduction. *Can I reduce my home owner taxes? How? Now that I'm even more confused than when I began, I step into the wework building where the accounting office resides and immediately feel calm. Mr. Yoshida, whose first name is Narumi welcomes me in with a warm smile and gentle handshake. There's a sophisticated and professional quality to his tone and mannerisms, but I also feel like I could tell this man my deepest fears without feeling the least bit judged. One day... I'm going to pause on the accounting stuff for a second and just say that this wework place is really cool. The space feels more like a cool hipster hangout than an actual office space. I mean yea, there are countless spaces with meeting rooms, small offices, medium offices, large offices, mini phone both offices and a lot of water cooler stations, but you gotta stop by and check out the rest of it. There's a snack bar, pinball and other random arcade games, tons of board games and card sets, shuffleboard, puzzles, comfy couches and beer on tap at ALL HOURS, EVERY DAY of the week! How does anyone get any work done here? Ok, back to the serious stuff. So, after my mini tour, Narumi (I'm on a first name basis at this point) eased my worries by answering all of my questions. This guy is efficient! Not only that, he explained everything until he was certain I understood. No dictionary necessary. I couldn't believe that in 30 minutes I was able to get a full understanding of all of my accounting needs. Thank you Hara Yoshida Accounting!! I consulted a tax issue I was not aware of. Initially, I had a lawyer for this issue as he used the scare tactics to made me hire him by lying about his accounting experience and he didn't solve the issue intentionally for over 4 months so that he could collect fees. YOSHIDA, DO NOT ERASE YOUR BAD REVIEWS ON PURPOSE! You should know such a shame of yours as a businessman. You should do your work only with honest & fair heart. NO CHEATING !! Actually, Hara and Yoshida CPA are very dishonest and disorganized guys. They made many easy mistakes on total net & gross $income, and even made mistakes of easy additions on our business tax file, and our business tax file became totally mess and disaster. To make matters worse, Hara just made us to send him only our signature page without letting us to review neither our file nor our permission before deadline. When their mistakes became visible, they required us some more charge to resolve. Yoshida CPA also told us some lies to cheat us on Hara's mistake. They don't pay good attention on small biz costumers, but just charge additional money saying "we used more hours to prepare for you". Our overpayment $2469.72 to IRS took 19 months (!) to return back to us thanks to Hara. They did not work for this refund, but we did by ourselves spending 19months. They are such liars, and late for deadline. We also paid more penalties because of Hara's lazy work which was later than deadline. Another CPA found out Hara's more mistakes on our past files. Hara & Yoshida are extremely low level CPAs without worth asking. read more

I received a response to my Yelp inquiry for a quote within 24 hours, and was able to see Mr. Yoshida an additional 24 hours later, which was much quicker than I expected. Mr. Yoshida sees people in his WeWork office, which is spacious and private. He patiently answered my questions about how to prepare my taxes (including questions about filing in multiple states, and FBAR).
