Five of us went here and my mission: find a tea towel that can be used (and not just looked at) for my new vanity bathroom. The price tag was steep: $38... there was no way i was paying that kind of money. This is important. Why? Because of what happened next...the owner was kind enough to walk me through the walkway (tons of great items) to the downstairs (more?) where I was shown some other tea towels. Didn't find what I was looking for though. So what did i purchase? $1700 worth of John Robshaw bedding. Yes. I turned around and saw THE MOST beautiful bedding ever. I just said "that's it. That is my spare bedroom". I ordered every piece except for a small pillow. Service is amazing. They had some free cookies at the front and although someone was guarding over it, i took four of them. However, I decided to drive by one last time at noon today on my way back to Boston and THERE WAS A HINT OF LIGHT. I parked, I ran-walked-skipped, and I barged right through those doors thinking to run into either Loren or Shawn. But nay, I was instead greeted by a sweet elderly lady with bright eyes surprised by the sudden intrusion of some random excited Asian dude. "Oh sorry, I'm not really open yet. I hope you don't mind the mess." "ME DON'T CARE." Sasquatch-wannabe-tourist gleefully responds. I came to find out shortly that it was Loren's mom, Grace, and she was definitely a delightful way to end my trip this year. You see, I came to really like this shop last year when I got to extensively talk to both Loren and Shawn during several visits to the shop because they were so fun to banter with. Not only did I receive local tips to the area, I came to really appreciate what they have done here over time through their little business. Their gift bags are printed with Loren's photography and Shawn's paintings! Truly beautiful and different from the other stores in the area. I found a few items for myself, my mom, and my daughter inside and the staff were very friendly. We stopped in here a few times and I saw a few different people working behind the counter and all greeted us immediately and were friendly. Make sure to stop in here while in town - it's got more than most of the other shops when you take it all in.

The Acadia Corporation owns and runs eight different individual stores in the Bar Harbor area that collectively are referred to as "Acadia Shops." This specific review is for the two story "Acadia Shop" located at 85 Main Street. Because the Acadia Corporation is running many stores in Bar Harbor stuff really starts to look the same from store to store but the Acadia Shop stood out to me because upstairs they had some local art and quality LL Bean gear. I enjoyed looking at the prints and notecards from local artists. Also, on a cold and rainy day it was nice to peruse lots of warm and cozy jackets and zip-ups from LL Bean. Downstairs was more souvenir-y like t-shirts, magnets, signs, candy, etc.
