Worst Retail Experience I've Ever Had - Coeur d'Alene Harbor Freight Completely Failed I purchased this hutch from the Harbor Freight store in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. My credit card was charged immediately, yet I waited nearly six weeks for the item to arrive. During that time, I visited the store multiple times to check on my order because no one ever contacted me with updates. Eventually, I received an email stating the hutch had arrived. I drove to the store to pick it up. An assistant manager confirmed my order, personally escorted me behind the chained employee area, and showed me the hutch to verify it was the correct one. After confirming it, I started walking back to the front of the store to complete the pickup. Without warning, another employee aggressively confronted me, demanding to know why I was in the back. Even after I immediately pointed to the assistant manager who had personally escorted me there, the employee continued arguing with me and treated me as though I had done something wrong. I was simply following the assistant manager's instructions. The situation only became worse when I expressed my concerns. Instead of receiving an apology or any attempt to de-escalate the situation, I was met with defensiveness and what felt like retaliation for speaking up. Rather than acknowledging the poor treatment, the staff acted as though I was the problem. After waiting a month and a half, being ignored throughout the ordering process, and then being treated disrespectfully in the store, I decided I no longer wanted the product. I requested a refund so I could take my business elsewhere. The assistant manager then appeared frustrated that I wanted to cancel the purchase and essentially told me I could handle the refund myself instead of assisting me. That was the final straw. From beginning to end, this was one of the worst retail experiences I have ever had. The communication was terrible. The customer service was worse. The professionalism was nonexistent. No customer should have to wait six weeks without updates, only to be treated with hostility while picking up an order they already paid for. The Coeur d'Alene Harbor Freight location desperately needs better management, significantly improved employee training, and a complete overhaul of its customer service culture. I have spent thousands of dollars with Harbor Freight over the years, but because of this experience, I have no intention of shopping at this location again. I ultimately contacted my credit card company because dealing with the store had become more frustrating than it was worth. If Harbor Freight values its reputation, I hope corporate takes a serious look at what is happening at the Coeur d'Alene store. No customer should be treated this way. read more

I bought a Bauer Sander for $108. After driving home (50 miles) I assembled it and it didn't run. I got up the next morning looking at a 100 mile round trip, but I decided I'd see why the motor didn't run. I took off the bottom cover and followed the wiring to the motor. I found the wire to the starter cap hanging loose. Once I connected it the motor started fine. I wonder why Bauer doesn't test their machines before they sell them to Harbor Freight. Had I taken it back, who would have been responsible? If anyone? read more

Had a grinder and a more expensive polisher both stop working. After a medium use job. Went to harbor freight They no longer stand behind tools that stop working period. Dont Buy any electric grinders or polishers. They have cheap bearings and harbor fright used to stand behind their stuff if it blew up, not anymore. No more harbor freight. read more

I get what seems to be multiple daily or almost daily coupons via email. Finally, I print out the 20% off Father's Day coupon and head down there to buy a Bauer Sander. At checkout, I'm told Bauer Power Tools are not included. She points to the fine print. I wasn't happy but move on. Next she says my coupon also does not count for the Bauer Sandpaper. Sandpaper ! Next she tells me it does not count a blue tarp I was buying! The Tarp was not on sale. I will NEVER look at another coupon. Then the senior cashier at the other register instead of directing her comments to me she tells my cashier "if he doesn't want the items he doesn't have to buy it." When I turned my head, her and her customer were mocking me out. I was smiling and simply acting in disbelief. I did not say anything nasty, just "I can't believe it" as I smiled and shook my head in disbelief. Other than that the store is fine, a regular Harbor Freight. read more

We all know we're getting what we pay for, I was at home dump looking at metric wench when this guy comes up and says if ur not buying to use every day u should try harbor tools, well dropped what I had some $60 worth and headed over, got what I needed at half the price, they seem to work, also bought a floor jack and vacuum, if it breaks I'll take it back! I just watched the manager overcharge a man $7. I was in the next aisle. He noticed when he looked at his receipt. He asked for his $7 back. The manager then rudely asked for his ID. He protested, because he didn't have his ID on him. She said it's their store policy for refunds. He tried to explain that it wasn't a refund and she didn't care. He mumbled under his breath when he went to his truck and when he came back with his ID, she banned him from the store and told him to leave without his $7 back. Unbelievable. read more

So there I was. I needed a dwell meter to check points on my VW bus and saw online that Harbor Freight had one for around 38 bucks. After picking it up and getting back to check dwell I discovered that the meter would not work properly leaving me to guess on the point gap I had just set. After getting everything going I decided to take the bus back to HF to return the defective item. Unfortunately, I binned my receipt. I figured that shouldn't be an issue as the item was still in the box minus the plastic wrap. Turned out this was an issue. The clerk refused to help and when I asked to speak to the manager the attitude was disdainful. I should have guessed why. The manager spent about three seconds with me and proclaimed once again the store policy that they would not help in any way without a receipt. Now after walking out of the store, it turned out the old bus was still having issues. So there I was sitting in front of HF trying to get the engine going. I eventually called for roadside assistance and later determined it need a new starter, but while I was busy working on the bus, guess who walked out? The manager. He didn't even ask if he could help. Didn't even ask if there was a problem, even though I was in the parking spot closest to his front door. In fact I would characterize his attitude as one of studious avoidance. So much for customer service. In summary, if you want cheap Chinese tools, go there. If you want good customer service avoid the place like the plague. read more

Worst manager I've EVER experienced.I was checking out at cashier 4 and when I grabbed my coupon he told the cashier to help the next customer and sent me over to cashier 1. I was kinda confused at first looking at the cashier holding my items as I'm kinda not believing he just had said that. He ran in his office because all the customers were talking about how terrible that was. I go to the cashier at stand 1 and completed my order, it was kind of an embarrassing experience to have my order canceled like that for the benefit of having someone else check out while I'm standing there ready to check out WITH my items already scanned and my total ready mind you. I'll be going back ONLY to confront this store manager for his absurd attitude to his customers. read more

Purchased CEN-TECH digital multimeter # 37772, Installed battery and turned on, Meter reads 1.6.0.8 no matter what you change the dial to. Rather disappointing as it was a minor emergency that I needed it for! Guess I'm off to buy a real meter! read more

My wife and I went in looking for a bunch of things including four bar height shop stools. They only had one on the shelf and when my wife asked an associate named Bryan, he rudely said without even checking the computer that they didn't have any more. After doing some more shopping, we spoke with the supervisor named Kyle who right away offered to check inventory on the computer and look in the back. He promptly came out with two more stools as well as retrieved the one off the shelf. During checkout we ended up in Bryan's line who was extremely rude to my wife. The only reason I'm not leaving a one star review is for to Kyle's excellent customer service. read more

Great prices and lots of tools. It can be hard at times to find help however. But once you find someone they are very helpful.
