Welcome to Harbor Gateway Transit Center. Located in that city I was born in, Gardena. Truly was not sure where I was, but it's a across from a Home Depot, no lights or real intersection, but a super hub for the LA Metro bus system, including the J Line (aka Silver). Just off the 110 Freeway, by the 91 and nearby the 405 on 182nd Street. I was pleasantly surprised to see they layout here. Easy to navigate, plenty of signs and like a lot of others have mentioned efficient. Times for frequency on weekends are the worst. It was giving, " All he cares about is school and his mom and his friends (and work)." Does the LA Metro not realize people like to enjoy the weekend also after a long hard week? Thankfully I wasn't going to much further from here and caught a ride over to Redondo Beach. The area is a little rough around the edges, but pretty updated and cleaned up where it counts. Definitely should be some safer walking and crossing areas, outside the Transit Center. Public restrooms are available. Parking is also available if commuting with roughly 1,000 spots. LA Metro workers often around and visible. Great way to get to events, work and functions. Hope times, frequencies and connections improve in the future. You can't predict traffic, incidents or human circumstances, but you (LA Metro) can plan better for transfers and smoother rides from point A to B on their end. read more

I attend 10 to 15 LA Kings games every hockey season. I take the Silver, J Line, bus from the transit center to Crypto Arena downtown. It is easy, safe, and convenient. On weekday afternoons, there is a bus every 5 minutes. On weekends, they run every 15. We arrive back to the transit center after 10 pm at times and I never feel unsafe. A ride home if I have had a couple drinks is way cheaper than parking Downtown. It is also a quick bus ride to BMO Stadium and the Coliseum. read more

It is easily accessed either from 182nd or on Vermont. There are hundreds of parking spots available, so that's never an issue. The bus runs pretty much on time and if you missed one, another will come along shortly. There are days when parking is free, otherwise, it's $3/day. And for those Dodger fans: the ride is a straight shot to the stadium and I was told it might even be FREE! (Hubbers and I plan on trying this out some time!) Over the past year, I've used the Harbor Gateway transit terminal a few times for bus transportation. With the upcoming Olympics and Los Angeles traffic as congested as ever, I wanted to familiarize myself with the process. I've traveled to both Dodger Stadium and Lakers games at Crypto, all using this terminal. I've been impressed by how easy it is to navigate and the overall cleanliness of the facility. Parking at Harbor Gateway has been plentiful and feels safe, I've never returned to find any issues with my car. That said, I recommend not leaving any valuables or items that might attract unwanted attention inside your vehicle. One of my favorite features is the Dodger Stadium Express route, which is free. Kudos to our city officials for their efforts to streamline and improve our bus system. read more

I Love the Harbor Gateway Bus terminal. It's always clean, they have Restrooms, there's always Security gaurds walking around to ensure people's safety & you can buy your Tap cards there (for people who don't know). To buy your Tap cards, it's a vending machine but if there's a problem I think they have a help desk with actual people who can help you if you ask. I love it when there's a baseball game or something because you see lots of clean people with jobs all standing around wearing their Dodger's shirts & it feels that much safer. I was just wondering if Parking was really free for the Park n' ride program. Thanks! Have you ever taken the Hollywood Bowl shuttle bus? Very similar, but let me explain to those that aren't in the know. It's well known that parking spots are few at the Hollywood Bowl and, with stacked parking, it takes forever to get back on the freeway. They set up shuttle bus pickup spots around L.A. where, for $6, they bring you to and from the bowl, saving both time and money. For events at Sofi Stadium and Dodgers Stadium, they offer a similar service. The Harbor Gateway Transit Center is a single location in Gardena. I'm not sure how many other locations offer a similar service but we did see another set of busses on our way out of the stadium. We arrived at the HGTC station at 4:30 for a 7:10 game. Since this was our first time, we wanted to leave nothing to chance. We boarded the bus at 4:45 and arrived at Dodger Stadium at 5:35. The bus was 100% baseball fans, as opposed to normal bus travelers. We drank a couple of beers on the way knowing we could not bring anything other than a clear bag and not booze into the stadium. Parking at the HGTC was free and so was the bus ride. They do fill the bus and some did have to stand on the way up. I'm not sure how many busses they have or how long the wait is for those but I was told they leave every 30 minutes. Getting there early just means you get to party more before the game. They start filling the busses back up in the 8th inning. Again, not knowing about the lines and, since the Dodgers we're getting crushed by the Cubs, we left our seats after the 7th inning and made the very short walk to the same spot where they dropped us off. We got right on the bus but had to wait for it to get filled. We stood in the aisle but had the option of waiting for a seat on the following bus. We chose to stand and it took only 25 minutes to arrive back at the station. Much quicker getting home. We felt safe in both the HGTC lot and bus station since we were surrounded by so many baseball fans, and it was clean. No bathroom on the bus and I did hear the restrooms at the station are a bit sketchy. The busses had air conditioning and we enjoyed "pre-gaming" on the bus. That saved us money. We also appreciated the free parking and free shuttle. Best of all, we didn't have to pay that sleaze-ball, Frank McCourt, $35 or $60 to park in his horribly crowded Dodger Stadium parking lot. read more

Located off 182nd & Hoover St. in Harbor Gateway. Parking is free with the exception of listed dates for football games at $3.00. Came here to catch the bus to Dodgers Stadium it was free if you have a ticket to the game. It was an efficient process. I would definitely do this again for Dodgers games. read more

Headed to a game at Sofi? Make life easy on yourself and be nice to your wallet and park your car here then take the bus over to Sofi. Easy peasy and super cheap! I took my Dad to see our beloved Eagles play the Rams at Sofi and heard nightmares about the cost of and inconvenience of parking onsite with friends complaining they paid $100+ and had to wait in gridlock for 2+ hours to get out of the parking lot. Luckily a friend recommended that we park at Harbor Gateway and take the bus over. Easy in and out of the transit center and it only cost me $4 round-trip and only $1.40 for my Dad (over 60yo pay $1.40). They had plenty of friendly stuff to help you buy your tickets and figure out which ticket you have to buy. They even offer free clear bags in case you forget one since that is the security for so far. The drivers were friendly and even getting back on the correct bus at the end of the game was clearly marked with good signage and other staff members to help you get on the right bus. read more

Going to the Chargers football game today, so decided to use the shuttle run by Gardena Transit, the 7X. Parking was $3. and the shuttle $4 for the round trip. The ride took about 30 minutes and dropped us off in the SoFi parking lot steps from the stadium. This is a great value since you don't have to hassle the traffic or pay the high parking costs of the stadium read more

Harbor Gateway Transit Center - Public Transportation Near Me - Gardena, California

I first came to this Transit Center to pick up a friend who came here by bus from Downtown Los Angeles. She would arrive without any delays. I would often think about how nice it would be to not have to worry about parking and how I should try the public transit system! While there are two public restrooms at the platform where the buses load and unload, I haven't needed to use them. Hopefully, I can keep it that way, but it is good to know they are here. Before my first bus ride, I acquired a TAP Card. It's so nice to not have to worry about the correct fare (to the penny) or lose money because they do not give back change. I don't even know how much it's going to cost me to get around. Just TAP and I'm good to go! There are two machines where you can reload your TAP Card and check your balance. If you need information about TAP cards, go to www.taptogo.net. Nowadays, I have actually taken the bus quite a few times from here to downtown. I like not driving and not fighting to find parking! I also like saving miles on my car, saving on gas, and being able to do stuff on my phone (not talking on it). It isn't always the fastest way to get from point A to B, but I don't mind it. Riding public transportation has been interesting, to say the least! You never know what you are going to hear or see! Mostly, I've heard lots of people's business which should be kept private! Metro often provides WiFi, at least that is what I have seen posted. Who wants to pay for parking at a Dodgers game or drive through all that traffic? You can board the Dodger Stadium Express here and it will drop you off behind Right Field. That is where you will catch the bus to return. It's free if you have your Dodgers game ticket. I always leave from this location whether I have to transfer to another bus or the train. At the end of my return trip, I come back here because this is where my car is left. I am glad that the parking here is plentiful and free! There are 2 entrances and 3 exits. You are not allowed to turn right (into the parking lot) from the onramp to the 110 Freeway, Express Lanes. There is a posted sign, so beware! Will I use the Harbor Gateway Transit Center again? Yes, as a matter of fact, I will be headed there shortly to catch the Silver Line downtown shortly! read more

But Finally getting to Park my car here and the reviews saying cars were stolen here but worry no further !! I do suggest you Park here if your heading to SoFi Stadium !! Public transportation in Los Angeles is really organized, efficient, and AMAZING! On several occasions, I rode the Metro from Downtown LA to the Harbor Gateway Transit Center so I could meet Alana and romp around the Torrance and Anaheim areas. I had no problems whatsoever... except... The Self-cleaning Restroom... Warning - this may be TMI (too much information) - so don't go any further if you are "sensitive"... LOL! Sometimes, Mother Nature calls at the most unusual times... especially if a person drinks coffee or ingests a large quantity of liquids... That's just life and normal bodily functions... Thank goodness for public restrooms! I really appreciate the fact that I don't need to pay to use the facilities at this Transit Center. So far, I only came across two restrooms in LA that required a quarter to open the door... Here, at this Transit Center, there are two "free" restrooms and they are both "automated". I had read about these high-tech units... There are sensors that can regulate the soap dispenser and lasers that activate the dryer for your hands! Just push the button and the bathroom tissue will unroll about 5 squares at a time! Too bad the tissue wasn't replaced once when I was there. Luckily, I had some napkins in my purse! LOL! Another time, the water function didn't work, so I had to use the sink in the next unit... my hands were full of soap! It's surprising that I gave this restroom another chance since the first time was traumatizing... I didn't know that there was a time limit. I was literally caught at an inopportune time. The door swung open and I wasn't prepared. Luckily, my purse was on my lap. I had to stand up and push the button to close the door! Thank goodness no one was outside the unit nor in my line of sight!!! ARGGG! I'll probably be back soon. It's a convenient meeting place with many parking spaces! If you need to catch the Metro to another destination, each Bay is clearly marked. There's even a route that goes straight to Dodger Stadium! It only took me about half an hour and $2.50 (exact change only) to get here from Downtown! We fly past the traffic on the freeway since we get to use the Express Lane and there aren't too many stops in between points! It's great! I think I should invest in a Tap Card next... read more

The idea of having free bus service to the Dodger stadium is amazing and greatly appreciated, the staff that are tasked with loading the busses are HORRIBLE! They are rude!! One young female threatened those of us that could not stand stating "It doesn't matter, the bus ain't leaving until it's full". She made no attempt to walk the line and ask for riders willing to stand. She had no regard to people actually being unable to stand for the 20 minute ride back to Harbor Gateway. Her and her counterpart (male) then watch 15 people cut the line and when I stated you all should maybe do a better job at watching people who cut the line instead of threatening us, she shrugged her shoulders! If you are attending a Chargers game I would def recommend parking here. There are Tons of parking and it's free. They have cameras around and a few cop cars patrolling he area. The bus ride to he stadium takes about 10 minutes and they rotate every 10 minutes. Going back from the game was a breeze as well. No huge lines and a ton of buses come. Beat the prices parking at the stadium and save your 40 - 100 bucks and park here. read more

This metro station has a huge parking lot that is actually safe to park your car in. It's nothing like the acacia (blue line) station in Compton. *They don't have a reloading station here, which actually helps because there aren't any transients asking for money. So, the absence of a reloading station prevents pan handling. *I highly suggest going to www.taptogo.net and reload there,and you can also check your balance on there ;) read more

Harbor Gateway Transit Center - The corner stop - Public Transportation Near Me - Gardena, California

Public transportation, homelessness, a bite to eat, same questions asked, beer, restrooms, horrible trained service pets.. As a bus operator for Los Angeles county this is the way to go to ditch the heavy traffic and let us handle the stress. Awesome way to travel for many riders. Harbor Gateway is a main station for connecting routes to Gardena, San Pedro, Long Beach, Torrance.. etc.. but lack the restroom capabilities because sometimes they're not in service. You'll have riders who drink beer on the service route.. the cans left behind are proof. While on route on the Harbor Gateway freeway you'll get the occasional "service pet" but when you see a Rottweiler or Great Dane they seem intimidating and cause a distraction to us all. Not your normal service animal but with the right paperwork they are able to ride. Restrooms for the pets are not available so pee pee time is when they want to go.. that's when I go out of service. Lol Harbor Gateway transit is a great location to transfer to other neighborhoods. Great spot to get a bite to eat once you've caught your connecting line to the connecting cities. Carry hand sanitizer always! Parking on location. Security is always vigilant. A cool Pokemon spot too. The best part.. you don't have to drive! Great place to hope on several bus lines, park and ride, and even meet a ride share going into the south bay. This location is also large enough to teach your teen driving skills without being in the way of other vehicles. Several bus companies use this area also. read more

Plenty of well-lit up free parking here! My friend and I decided to use the Metro transportation for the first time to get to LA for a NYE party. It was confusing to figure out which line to use with the special NYE changes and fine print notations. All it took was a simple phone call with practically no wait time!! Just give them the address to both points and the approximate time of destination for which ever date you decide to go and they'll tell you everything you need to know!! We took the Silverline both ways. The bus was well-lit and fairly clean, at least the ones we got on. They had a special NYE deal, free ride between 9pm to 2am. It's $2.45 one way to ride the Silverline. I believe it's only $1.50 to ride the other buses. You don't need a tap card for the bus. When we got to the transit center, there was a large map that told us which number to stand at for the Silverline (6). It was such an easy ride, no stress of bumper to bumper traffic, I'm considering using the public transportation more often! I believe they run every 6 to 10 mins during certain hours, then every 20 to 25 mins, then every 30 mins to one hour as it gets later in the evening. This is a great concept that should have been expanded on. I don't think it gets used enough. They never made it attractive enough where joe public would want to use it. But it works and works well. This location isn't that bad. Not sure about the person who had their car broken into, but there are worse places you could leave your car. If you look at this place on a map, you'll see, it's not really somewhere that will get a lot of foot traffic. Meaning, there aren't going to be people walking by looking for cars to break into. But that can happen anywhere. read more

This facility is not a safe place to leave your vehicle. I parked here and rode the Super Bowl shuttle to SoFi Stadium. I returned to discover that my car had been stolen. I walked over to where one of the numerous on-site security vehicles was parked (50 feet from where my car used to be) and reported the theft. Multiple other people had walked up while I was speaking to the security officer, all there to also report their cars stolen. The officer responded with a chuckle, "Wow, all your cars were stolen, huh? That's odd. Must've been some real pros cuz we didn't see nothin." So with multiple security vehicles patrolling on-site, well lit areas all around, and security cameras in place, this is in no way a safe place to park any vehicle. read more

Plenty of parking spaces when you don't want to drive. You don't have to worry about a lot of traffic or people loitering either. The lot is clean and has 2 entrances/exits. One leads you directly to the freeway. This is also right off of the 91/405/110 freeway split. Perfect for a quick drop off and pick up. read more

FYSA!!! All vanpoolers who use park-n-ride enterprise vehicles and leave the vehicle parked over night at this location. Unfortunately, they are people who are cutting the gasoline line to have the fuel syphoned. There should be more Law enforcement vigilance and CCTV displayed throughout the parking to deter such criminal activity. This centralized location is great as a meeting place, but be aware of dealing with the unwarranted attention. read more

If you don't have a hybrid and/or didn't get it in time to get those special carpool access stickers, don't feel so bad, you can easily take advantage of the carpool lane by meeting up with other people from the South Bay who work in/around downtown at the Artesia Transit Center. There is ample free safe parking and numerous city/commuter bus stops. It is open around-the-clock. On occasion when I pick up my car at midnight or 1 am, my car is the only one in the ginormous parking lot. It's no frills park and ride but serves its purpose well. Once you meet your carpool buddy, you can hop onto the carpool lane without cutting through lanes of traffic. If you are headed downtown, the easiest way to avoid a lot of the traffic at Adams Blvd. is just to exit 39th Street and take Figueroa all the way to the financial district. I used to sit in traffic for about an hour, sometimes up to an hour and a half door to door, but by carpooling with co-workers, I've been able to shave off about half the time. In fact, on many occasions, we spend 15 minutes driving in the carpool lane to downtown, and another 15 minutes to go local from 39th street to the heart of the financial district. read more

As a sports writer living in San Pedro, I cover a lot of games and events in Downtown LA and beyond. Now that I'm in my 30's, the joy that I used to have driving has been stripped into a curmudgeonly impatience and dreams of moving to a place with real public transit. Since humidity and cold weather rule out any moves, here I am. This isn't the prettiest place in the world. Gentrifying granola hippie airheads will probably bemoan the cold utilitarian bleakness of the Center. But it works. Yes I drive and park to use public transportation, but it's simple and quick way for me to take the Silver Line to STAPLES Center, or to Union Station to connect to other places in Southern California. It could use more lights. The parking lot could be more inviting. But, like most things utilitarian, it serves its purpose. One thing would be helpful though: restrooms. I understand that people all of the sudden don't want to pay taxes so there will probably be no money to hire people to maintain them. read more

I love this idea of the Dodger Express. You go to bay 9. The bus is a metro bus but on the side it says Dodger Express. It is a free ride all the way to the stadium. Just show your ticket and jump on. It does not get any better than that. You dont have to fight the traffic. read more

Good idea but poorly executed. This transit center is so uninviting and bleak. Very little thought was put into encouraging ridership at this station. My cement driveway is cozier than this place. It's a shame because the Silver Line to DTLA is very efficient with strong ridership. Torrance, Gardena & Carson buses connect here. Bus drivers are helpful and patient. The drivers get asked a thousand questions per day and are expected to know every single bus line & schedule coming into the station. Wouldn't it be better to have a concierge/info booth to answer questions and sell TAP cards? Now that Metro has transitioned to TAP Card system - Where are the TAP Vending Machines at this station? Need to reload your TAP card? Sorry, you're out of luck. Green landscaping, TAP Vending Machines and a Coffee Cart would go a long way to make this place hospitable. read more

This review is for the Dodger Stadium Express out of the Harbor Gateway Transit Center. I've used this service a good 10 times and always had a great experience. They're using their older fleet of buses for this service. AC is a hit or miss, seats are uncomfortable, and sometimes it can be standing room only. They have multiple buses that start 2-hrs before game time all the way to game time departure. Return buses start at the 7th inning, and the last one after the game (or after fireworks, movie, etc.). I'm giving them 4-stars because it takes the hassle out of driving to the stadium and save on parking fees. And for games during the week, you don't have to deal with all that LA traffic. read more

This is strictly a bus depot so TAP machines will not be found here (learned that the hard way) although sporadically Metro will have a TAP can that parks here to allow you to purchase cards and refill them. Plenty of parking and sheriffs are always there in the mornings and police patrol the parking lot. You can catch just about any bus here and if you use the Metro app on your phone you can get real time updates on arrivals. read more

Super location, makes taking the Silver Line very easy. Just make sure you check up the schedule. And WHY OH WHY, Metro would you not have a TAP card refill center here? In other words, make sure you have exact change if you're taking the Silver Line and don't have a TAP card with money on it. The parking lot is huge and feels safe (especially if you park with everyone else, and near one of those cameras). I've used this lot as a meet up point, so that we can all carpool up together. Was here recently as a meeting point for my company's holiday party. Lots of parking and very centrally located. It's very close to the 110 and the 405. Since this is the second year, I guess on Saturdays they have R/C car races in the parking lot. Not sure how you can participate, but there is quite a turnout. This is no longer a safe place to park your car for the day. I only use this transit center a few times a year, and yet had my car battery stolen here recently. I got here midday and waited in my car for a friend to arrive. During that hour I noticed two suspicious cars with tinted windows near me. One was double parked over two parking spaces. When I got there and they realized I wasn't leaving right away, they both left. There was also another car repeatedly zipping back and forth across the parking lot very fast (in my opinion, too fast to be a security car). Unfortunately I ignored all these signs and eventually left my car here for the day. When I got back in the evening, a police officer informed me that my car battery got stolen, and that it happened to several other cars around me as well. I tried to tell him about the suspicious things I saw earlier, but he said there was nothing they could do about it. A few weeks later, someone I know also had their car battery stolen in this very same transit center. Honestly, if these incidents are a frequent occurrence and the transit center is unwilling to do anything to prevent them, they should put up signs everywhere warning people about these thefts... Unless I hear of convincing initiatives to prevent car-related thefts, I will no longer be using this transit center going forward. read more

Where to start: I'm sitting at home right now (instead of in my seat at the game)because of my experience at Harbor Gateway. transit station. I got there, in line for bus service at 5:55 pm. The first bus got there at 6:15, we couldn't get on not enough room, okay, no big deal..... The next bus gets there at 6:30, sweet, we may still get there on time, The bus driver, a red faced man with dark hair and a goatee gets off the bus says "Sorry, I was stuck in traffic" and disappears as does the supervisor,,....figure he has to go to the bathroom......15 minutes pass, he isn't back yet...finally he comes back and gets on the bus, then he gets off the bus and disappears again...finally he re appears at 7:00 and gets on the bus..we board, people are murmuring their discontent at what's going on, the driver gets off the bus again, So I get off the bus and go to my motorcycle to come home, the bus still hasn't left, then it starts to pull away. I take the 2 locks off my bike, look up and the bus is back at the spot, he either backed up or went around the "island and stopped at bay 9 again. Finally it leaves at about 7:10....40 minutes after it got there. I'm in contact with the Dodgers to get a refund..I work 6 days a week, can't tell you how I looked forward to going to the stadium for one of the rare Monday night games. read more

Would it be too much to say this is the greatest bus stop in the world? Well as someone who has extensively seen one maybe two countries (do airports count?), I have it on poor authority to say YES. Okay so maybe "the world" is a slight exaggeration, but seriously this place is awesome if you're commuting from the South Bay up to Downtown LA. It's reduced my commute that would erratically vary between 30 minutes to upwards of an hour to a very consistent 40 minutes (that's door to door mind you). What makes this stop so special? Well for one all the northbound buses dump directly into the carpool lane on the freeway. Plus, all the buses from the South Bay to downtown come through this stop. So you miss your bus? Not a big deal, another one will be there within 15 minutes. Also, the 450 Express here is an awesome line. It only makes three stops which saves a lot of time, the majority of people who take it are professionals (not homeless bums), and the drivers are very good about being on time. So save the Earth and some time off your commute. read more
