I spent about three months working with Emily at Harbor Physical Therapy after suffering a shoulder injury (from a vaccination, of all things).

I was looking for something local with immediate availability and I was surprised by the plethora of PTs in the neighborhood. After a few calls to a number of places, I decided on ATI. (ATI has multiple locations) They are located in a plaza so there was plenty of parking. I arrived, with pre-filled paperwork and I had a preliminary assessment by Cici. Her assessment was thorough so I decided she would be my specialist. Over the next 6-8 weeks, training has been effective. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The interior is basic but all the equipment you'll need is accessible. Overall, this experience has changed my mind about physical therapy. Initially, I thought PT was a waste of time because you can work out on your own. However, my experience showed me that the workouts and exercises are targeted to your injury and your PT can guide you on activity outside of your normal sessions. If you are looking for a smaller facility that feels like a family with knowledgeable staff, I'd highly recommend ATI.

I figured I could do the exercises on my own and recover....I was wrong. I ended up going to the Fort Ave location and Rameshwar Alambayan, the on-site Physical Therapist, was Excellent! He is the consummate professional! I never thought PT could actually be fun! Ram has a wonderful sense of humor and personality! Before you realize it your time has gone by and you're feeling better. I can't thank Ram and Carly enough for the great care provided over the last 6 weeks! You're the BEST! I would highly recommend!

Which means you can park and then go to your appointment and then grab a bite to eat around the area... I think the only restriction is you have to leave Before 4 PM on game nights. The team here is awesome. I'm currently working with Emily and have been for years. She's great as are the rest of the team members. Conveniently located across the hall from the orthopedic surgeons so you can have one stop shopping if you need to see both your doctor and the therapist on the same day.

In my experience this practice lacks basic facility management. To start off, over the course of my…read morefirst few appointments, I asked one of the front desk ladies, Tiffany, four times to confirm my insurance co-payment for my physical therapy sessions; she assured no co-payment would be over $30. Finally, on my 4th therapy session, Tiffany told me that I have a $0 co-payment since I've met my insurance deductible. I made the mistake of trusting Tiffany's word and continued my sessions feeling relieved that I had no copayment which was crucial for me since as a student, I don't have a substantial source of income. Before my 12th therapy session at this practice, I received a bill for $200 for five of my sessions; I abruptly stopped my therapy sessions then. I talked to the facility manager, Mike, who told me that he would find out more details. He never followed up even after I emailed and called him multiple times. Finally, after multiple calls and emails, I was able to get a hold of him. He stated that he had talked to Tiffany and that she had told me that I had a $40 per session co-payment (that is a total of $440 that I had to pay out of pocket). He told me he would email me additional billing support, which he never did. Despite continuously being in pain, I had to stop going to this practice because I do not trust the incompetent management and lack of professionalism at this facility. I'm very unhappy with the way I was treated as a patient and never recommend anyone to go to this practice.

Nonetheless, I persist and they continue to help me with good cheer and positivity. This business is located within the Maryland Athletic Club (MAC). Their therapy rooms are well stocked with all sorts of gadgets but the tables aren't too close to each other so no one feels crowded. There are lots of mirrors on the walls so you can check your form (or, if you're kinda bored, you can look out onto the businesses on Aliceanna). I've generally worked with Alyssa and she's professional, friendly, but tries to push me further. My favorite treatments are the massages, though.

Caroline spent 1.5 hours with him due to a complex medical history. She was the most thorough physical therapist he had ever visited (and there have been many over the years). She spent that time to properly diagnose his PT needs and to understand his personal and support his approach to exercise. She and her colleagues prepared a PT plan and helped him execute it terrifically. The hands on treatment that took up the initial half hour of each session was expertly delivered and the exercise program was designed to meet both short and long term needs. Over the past two years Caroline, Allison and Kelli have provided great support and treatment for a range of problems ranging from shoulders to back to knees and hips. Their treatments have consistently resulted in significant improvement. I have also been a client at Elite PT on and off for the past two years and have experienced the same kind of care, insight and professionalism from all three practitioners. My profile, stemming from a compression fracture in my back that cascaded to weak muscles and attending pain, was complicated and layered. Caroline worked hard to unpack each issue (and the new ones that cropped up), tried new treatments and exercises until she got the the source of the issue. Additionally, all of the staff at Elite PT have treated us with care and support as we went through difficult medical situations. We are ever grateful and highly recommend Elite PT.

However, I encountered major issues with the ethics of how they operate as a business. And I have since come to learn that the care I received from them, while it felt good short term, may have caused long-term damage. Now, over a year later, I am writing this review, because despite all of my efforts to communicate that I want NOTHING to do with them anymore, they continue to reach out to me for more business. Hopefully this will finally make them stop. After my household lost the job our insurance was through, Health Quest proactively offered to check if I was still covered so I could continue to come in (because I explained up front if I wasn't covered by insurance, I would have to cancel my appointments, which were non-urgent for me). Health Quest checked on this immediately prior to my next three or four appts until the end of the month, which was a great convenience for me (who has time to wait on hold with an insurance company, especially when someone else is offering/willing to do it for you?), and I know they were happy to not lose a customer since I was with a new chiropractor who didn't have a long client list yet. Then, at end of the month, the receptionist called me up to explain I actually owed them HUNDREDS of dollars because, despite telling me they had a dedicated staff member for all their insurance work, "I" was misinformed of my coverage (they were careful not to claim any responsibility at this point, or even apologize) and they were now billing me retroactively, at FULL PRICE. This was infuriating to me as a patient since they were the ones who OFFERED to check my insurance coverage in the first place! Frankly it felt downright like a scam. I fought them back and forth and eventually they agreed, begrudgingly, "as a courtesy," to split the cost with me 50/50. This "favor" that they did me - first, in proactively offering to check my insurance coverage when it was in question so as to not lose me as a customer, and second, to still charge me loads of out of pocket costs when this was their mistake, or maybe lie? - was infuriating. I felt cheated and taken advantage of. I considered reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, but I figured maybe it was just one person - one of potentially a few - who was just really bad at their job, and as long as they were aware and could correct this, I would give them the benefit of the doubt and just move on. So a week or two later, I reached out and asked for the owner to give me a call back so I could "discuss some recent issues," because I believe in awareness and positive communication more than negative online reviews. Well, he never called me back. Then a few months later, I received a chipper message from Health Quest asking for referrals, then a week later, ANOTHER call asking for referrals. I ignored the first one but with the second was annoyed and told them I'd asked to speak to the owner about some issues a few months ago but never heard back. I told them if the owner was not going to call me back, I wanted to be removed from their system and never contacted again. I have since learned from doctors and other specialists that the chiropractic work Health Quest performed to resolve the issue I was having was actually quite detrimental to my condition - they NEVER should have taken me as a client in the first place. Also, you guessed it, I never got a phone call back from the owner (which is fine, as my interest in trying to help them improve their practices has long since expired). But now I'm suddenly getting texts asking to make an appointment and come back in. I very rarely write negative reviews: it's not in my nature, and I don't like to do it. But the ethics of Health Quest's business practices are questionable, repeatedly the owner has not been responsive to my outreach to communicate or discuss issues, and they don't listen to or respect their patients when someone tries to leave. I don't recommend this business.
